Chapter 335: Chapter 334: It’s Not Their Turn to Arrange
"Who is it? Can’t a person get some sleep early in the morning?" Lin Tian lay in bed without rising, answered the call, and said impatiently.
"Hehe, does little brother Lin Tian not recognize my voice?" An elderly voice came from the phone.
Who is this person? Lin Tian frowned, recognizing from the voice that it was an older person, but among the elders he knew, only Dean Miao referred to him as "little brother." Elder Zhou, on the other hand, wouldn’t call him that.
But Lin Tian was sure the person on the phone was neither Dean Miao nor Elder Zhou, so he was really at a loss as to who it could be.
"I don’t know you." Lin Tian said bluntly, unwilling to guess.
He hated this way of making phone calls, not announcing oneself and expecting others to guess. It was boring and annoying as hell.
"I am Bai Zhengchu." The person on the other end of the line simply clarified.
Bai Zhengchu was also quite annoyed, as he had something to discuss with Lin Tian and wanted to use a young person’s way of calling to close the gap and ease the atmosphere; he hadn’t expected Lin Tian to be no ordinary young man, who didn’t play along at all, leaving himself with a rebuff.
Lin Tian couldn’t for the life of him figure out why Bai Zhengchu would call him; Bai Zhengchu was the helmsman of the Bai Family, so why would he personally get involved instead of sending his son or grandson?
Moreover, Lin Tian believed his relationship with the Bai Family was rather awful, having put them in awkward positions numerous times. They were practically at loggerheads. With Bai Zhengchu seeking him out personally and being so polite, could it be that he needed a favor?
"Oh, Old Bai really has the leisure, calling us young people for a chat this early in the morning." Lin Tian didn’t want to continue guessing and responded with a rather pointless remark.
"Lin Tian, I know you don’t like beating around the bush, so I’ll get straight to the point—the Japanese want to meet with you," Bai Zhengchu said outright, revealing the reason for his call.
It’s the Japanese again, what do they want with me? Could it be about the leisure center issue? Lin Tian’s mind raced, but a hint of a smile appeared on his lips.
He had once told Zuo Hongsheng that if the Japanese came knocking, they should come to him, and it seemed these Japanese were quite swift in their actions.
"I don’t know any Japanese." Lin Tian deliberately responded.
"Lin Tian, you’re a smart man, and you must be well aware why the Japanese are looking for you. They’re interested in the leisure center, and the Zuo Family said part of the center’s assets are yours, telling them to ask for your opinion. Surely you haven’t forgotten about this," Bai Zhengchu went straight to the point, knowing any other topic would just lead to endless digressions with Lin Tian.
"Hmm, there is such a matter. Since they’re interested, let’s meet—ten o’clock at Tianfu Restaurant," Lin Tian agreed, also wanting to probe if these Japanese were from the Rizhao Group, and if they had any connections with those ninjas.
"This..." Bai Zhengchu hesitated, with a bit of difficulty, he said, "The Japanese are quite busy; their schedule is already set. They arranged to meet at eight-thirty. Meeting at ten would delay many things."
"Old Bai, I address you respectfully because, back in the day, you made a name for Huaxia people abroad and deserved that respect. But your current actions are a disappointment to me," Lin Tian said coldly, not mincing words: "This is Huaxia territory. Should we nod and bow to their arrangements? Hmph, it’s not their place to schedule me. If they want to talk, they’ll talk; if not, it’s their loss."
Lin Tian was truly annoyed. Some people treated these so-called foreign friends better than their own Huaxia compatriots, which was complete nonsense. The pride of Huaxia, built over thousands of years of neither servility nor arrogance, had been lost by these people.
To lord over one’s compatriots, and kowtow to so-called foreign friends was simply pretentious, dressed up in the guise of etiquette—what etiquette, you can’t even stand up straight, and you talk about manners? Lin Tian felt indignant about this.
After a silence, Bai Zhengchu on the other end of the phone finally said, "Alright, as you say, let’s meet at ten o’clock at Tianfu Restaurant."
Lin Tian ended the call and checked the time—it was only seven o’clock. Damn it, such a dream disturber, he cursed inwardly again.
After freshening up, he went down to the living room on the first floor, where only Zi Yan and Xiao Manxuan were present. None of the others were around.
"Second Miss, Sister Song and her apprentice, and your sister—where are they?" Lin Tian casually took a seat at the dining table and asked.
Xiao Manxuan hadn’t replied yet when Zi Yan laughed and said, "Junior Brother, aren’t you greedy? Isn’t the company of us two beauties enough for you?"
"Hehe, Sister Zi Yan is joking," Xiao Manxuan said with a slight smile. "Sister Song and her apprentice went into seclusion to study jade carving, and my sister is busy with company matters, so she went out too."
"Oh, I see." Lin Tian remembered Song Yanan had mentioned this, and the Miss was as busy as ever.
He didn’t ask any further and without hesitation started eating the breakfast laid out on the table.
"Lin Tian, do you have any plans for today?" Xiao Manxuan asked with a smile, watching him wolf down his food.
"Oh, yes, there are some matters." Lin Tian spoke between bites, telling her about his planned meeting with the Japanese.
Zi Yan glanced at him and said, "Zuo Family gave you their taekwondo gym?"
"Yeah, is there a problem?" Lin Tian asked in surprise, curious why Zi Yan seemed interested in the gym.
"I’ve long wanted to expand our beauty and wellness pavilion to that location, but unfortunately, I couldn’t get a property there," Zi Yan said with some regret, then added, "Are you really going to meet the Japanese? How about I go with you to bolster your presence?"
The sister, clearly interested in the gym and wanting to know if I would sell it to the Japanese, didn’t say it outright and instead found such a lame excuse, Lin Tian thought, as he gave her a smile.
Seeing Lin Tian’s smile, Zi Yan knew he had seen through her little scheme, but she wasn’t afraid and even said threateningly, "Junior Brother, I want to go, so you figure it out."
"I want to go too," Xiao Manxuan chimed in, raising her hand and shouting, another one who wasn’t easy to handle.
Both of them stared at Lin Tian, looking ready to start a fight if he didn’t agree. Lin Tian had no choice but to say, "If you’re going, you need a role to go as—you’ve got to have some explanation, right?"
"Secretary, of course," Xiao Manxuan said with a smile.
"Not bad, I can be your secretary too," Zi Yan added with a wink and a laugh.
"Uh, suit yourselves, but you’re in home clothes, you need to change," Lin Tian could only agree.
"Of course, we know that. We’ll go change now, just wait for us." The two of them dashed upstairs to change clothes, excited as if they were going on a trip, not even finishing their breakfast.
Lin Tian shook his head speechlessly. It was just past seven, what was the rush? But he completely underestimated the complexity of women getting ready, and by the time he finished his fifth cup of morning tea, they still hadn’t appeared.
You’ve got to be kidding me, Lin Tian was puzzled. Women only wear one more piece of underwear than men, does it really take this long? Carrying his tea cup, he went up to the third floor, about to call out and ask what was taking so long when Xiao Manxuan’s room door suddenly opened.
