Chapter 327: Chapter 326: Urban Village

Lin Tian opened the trunk of the car, placed the cardboard box inside, then opened the car door, and looked at Su Qingqing, gesturing for her to get in. But she stood outside the car, her head down, seemingly lost in thought, completely missing Lin Tian’s gaze.

"Su Qingqing?" Lin Tian waved his hand in front of her, puzzled.

"Ah..." Su Qingqing lightly gasped, lifting her head to look at Lin Tian, obviously not yet recovered from her previous distraction.

Lin Tian touched his forehead, feeling waves of weakness. Last time he felt she could be groomed into a business mogul, but seeing her like this now, it seemed he had to take back that thought.

No matter how you looked at it, she seemed like a little silly goose. She was far too away from being a commanding business mogul, like a million times a hundred thousand miles away—Heaven itself couldn’t see hope.

"What ’ah’? If you don’t get in the car now, I’ll carry you in," Lin Tian glared at her, pretending to be stern and mimicking a gesture to pick her up.

"No... no need, I can get in by myself," Su Qingqing stammered, like a startled rabbit, swiftly sliding into the passenger seat.

She was already shy talking to Lin Tian, and if she were carried into the car, she’d truly be so embarrassed she’d want to crawl into a hole.

Lin Tian shook his head with a smile, this little girl, not scaring her a bit she doesn’t know to move faster. He then moved to the other side, opened the door, seated himself in the driver’s seat, and buckled up. But after fastening, he noticed Su Qingqing sitting awkwardly in her seat, having forgotten to buckle up.

Sigh, might as well help her with it. God, communicating with this girl is so hard, Lin Tian shook his head again, unhitched his own seatbelt, then leaned over.

"Boss... what are you doing?" Su Qingqing shrieked, seeing Lin Tian suddenly lunging toward her, and, lost in thought, she thought he was pouncing on her, which frightened her into retreating further into the seat, her heart uncontrollably racing and her face flushing.

Su Qingqing felt a strong male presence pressing down on her, making breathing somewhat difficult. She had to breathe more deeply, her mouth slightly opened as she drew in forceful breaths.

The back space of the car seat was very limited; no matter how she might try to retreat or dodge, there was simply no way to escape, and eventually, she was so scared that she froze, not daring to move further.

All Lin Tian intended was to fasten her seatbelt, but Su Qingqing’s reaction was so bizarrely frantic, moving about in her seat as though she possibly had ADHD.

"Brother Lin, no... don’t..." Su Qingqing was too terrified to move, stuttering as she spoke. Her brain felt like it was lacking oxygen, forcing her to take deep breaths, but even so, her heart’s pounding didn’t cease.

"Little girl, ’don’t’ what? I’m just helping you with your seatbelt. What did you think I was doing?" Lin Tian pulled the seatbelt and clicked it into the buckle, then straightened up, his expression a mix of amusement.

Su Qingqing looked at the seatbelt on her and realized she had misunderstood Lin Tian, her face flushing with mortification. She glanced at Lin Tian and whispered, "Sorry, I thought... that you were going to... "

The girl’s words trailed off into silence, her head bowed down; she now felt extremely embarrassed, wanting to open the car door and run away, but also fearing that Lin Tian might actually pick her up and bring her back, so she just sat with her head down, occasionally stealing glances at Lin Tian until she ascertained he was not making fun of her, and then she relaxed a little.

"Haha, did you think I was some kind of pervert?" Lin Tian laughed heartily, claiming he had no such intentions.

"Qingqing, where do you live?" Lin Tian drove casually asking.

"Near the east gate of Xikou City Normal University," Su Qingqing, after a few minutes of calming herself, sounded less anxious as she softly responded.

Near the Normal University? Lin Tian took another look at her. That area had attached elementary and middle schools, and Xikou City First Middle School, genuinely a distinguished school district properties area favored by many parents as the first choice for purchasing homes, with prices not less than ten thousand yuan per square meter.

If Su Qingqing did live in a school district home, her family situation must be decent. But if her family was doing well, why would she work in a bar? A timid and shy girl like her wouldn’t dare to work at a bar if not for the high salary there.

After all, bars are mixed with all sorts of people, and with her being so attractive, some young masters would inevitably take notice of her, potentially leading to trouble.

However, everyone has their reasons for the things they do; Lin Tian didn’t ask further, perhaps the facts were different from what he thought.

During the drive, Su Qingqing dared not speak; Lin Tian also stopped teasing her to avoid frightening her again.

The Normal University was in the West District of Xikou City, soon out of the city center; the traffic lessened and Lin Tian sped up, reaching the east gate of the Normal University twenty minutes later.

Although it was past nine at night, the university gate was still bustling with students, especially couples in twos and threes. Many of them headed to the small hotels nearby right after coming out of the gate.

There was no need to guess; those couples were clearly going to book rooms. High school teachers always taught that studying well and getting into university was like entering Heaven—where students had everything they needed.

The teachers were right indeed; this was not just Heaven but a joyful paradise for couples. Lin Tian imagined what his university days would be like. Would he, like these couples, pair up and perhaps book a room over the weekend?

"Qingqing, the weekend nightlife around the Normal University seems quite lively," Lin Tian said casually as he drove.

Su Qingqing also clearly saw those couples diving into the hotels. She was too shy to look at Lin Tian, lowering her head and quietly murmured an "Mm" in response to his comment.

"How do we get there next?" Lin Tian no longer joked, instead turning to ask.

"Inside the urban village; cars can’t get in. Just park at the street corner outside, I can walk in myself," Su Qingqing pointed toward some low-rise buildings not far away, explaining.

Urban village? That explained it; she didn’t live in a school district home. Those residing in school district homes were mostly middle-class families. Lin Tian’s mind stirred as he followed her pointing, spotting a yet undeveloped urban village in the distance, shabby and dark compared to the brightly lit school district homes nearby.

The surrounding streets and high-rise buildings under the bright lights looked utterly modern, while that dark, shabby urban village seemed to be slowly swallowed by the modern city.

Nevertheless, given the circumstances, the urban village being so close to the school district, it wouldn’t escape eventual demolition.
