Chapter 210: Chapter 209: Good Man in the New Era
"Kicked out of Xikou City High School again?" Lin Tian repeated softly.
"Brother Lin, why use ’again’? Has someone said the same to you?" Zhou Botong asked curiously.
Lin Tian thought for a moment and briefly relayed the recent events to Zhou Botong. This guy had been mingling in society longer and might know some inside information.
"Damn, what bad luck they had to run into you!" A friend being robbed would typically cause outrage, yet Zhou Botong actually sympathized with those thugs.
"Hey, hey, hey, Zhou Botong, do you understand the situation? I was the one intercepted, shouldn’t you be worried about me instead of those thugs? What kind of logic is this?" Lin Tian protested discontentedly.
"Do you need to be worried?" Zhou Botong irritatingly countered before adding, "The ones who should be praying are those thugs. They’ll probably have nightmares tonight."
Utterly defeated by Zhou Botong, Lin Tian heaved a sigh about the misfortune of befriending such a character. He said helplessly, "With my handsome features, it shouldn’t be enough to give them nightmares, right? Am I really that frightening?"
"It depends on who you ask. To enemies, you are their eternal nightmare, but to friends, you are their admired idol. For example, the charming and suave me, Zhou Botong, am your loyal fan..." Zhou Botong began another of his endless speeches, more terrifying than a machine gun.
"Brother Zhou, I call you brother, can you stop, please? I’m about to vomit. Just spill everything you know. Otherwise, I’ll show you the difference between tearing up steel plates, tearing up chickens, and tearing up Zhou Botong." Lin Tian moved his phone away from his ear, and after three minutes had passed and Zhou Botong still hadn’t stopped, he had to shout to make him stop.
"Know what? I just heard the news myself. These days I’ve been hanging out with Mengmeng everywhere, so I rarely visit bars anymore. It’s nothing but some people wanting revenge on you but being too scared to confront you directly, so they resort to underhanded tactics to push you into submission," Zhou Botong analyzed.
"That sounds about right. I wonder if it’s the Bai Family pulling strings. Never mind, help me keep an eye out. I’ll head home for now," Lin Tian concluded without any leads and hung up.
On the drive home, Lin Tian thought of the people most likely involved—it could be Bai Yuze or Bai Yufeng. Bai Zhengchu probably wouldn’t engage in such childish acts since pushing him out of school would bring no benefits to the Bai Family, which wasn’t characteristic of him.
Another suspect was Sun Decai, who had been keeping a low profile recently, but retaliation behind the scenes couldn’t be ruled out. Despite being a rich second generation, he was somewhat cunning. Then there was the Japanese, Futian Shenyi, who had faced numerous humiliations and had motives for revenge.
Of course, there was also the narrow-minded Wu Li, who probably couldn’t swallow his pride and might be plotting secretly in some corner. Given his personality, bullying students was entirely in his wheelhouse. The remaining suspects included the school’s basketball team captain and the Mr. Qi he met at a bar last time, who knew better than to confront him openly, so they had resorted to more secretive methods.
The grudges these individuals held were substantial, but who could it be? Lin Tian pondered deeply on his way back to the Xiao Mansion without any clear direction, realizing there were indeed many who envied and despised him.
"Only mediocrity escapes jealousy," Lin Tian had no regrets about offending them. If it came to it, he might fight even harder next time.
After returning to his bedroom and taking a shower, Lin Tian continued his regular nightly routine of absorbing moonlight. However, having returned too late tonight, he could not practice long as there was no moonlight.
Tonight, there was neither the female ghost nor Zhang Lingyu visiting. He wondered about the girl who sneaked into his room like a ghost, perhaps somewhere carrying out some secret task. Lying on the windowsill, Lin Tian suddenly felt curious about what kind of girl she really was—like a mysterious girl.
So, Lin Tian fell asleep on the windowsill, not waking up until he rolled over and fell to the floor. As the morning sunlight streamed in, basking in the warm sun, Lin Tian suddenly felt he was indeed a lucky zombie—not having to hide in dark corners like the lower zombies, only able to come out at night.
If he were that kind of zombie, Lin Tian would rather stand under the sun and get incinerated to ash than deal with it.
He had risen unusually early that day, and after freshening up, he came to the living room. Xiao Manxuan was still in bed, so he busily prepared breakfast. Such a simple task didn’t stump him.
"Wow, you big meanie, you can make breakfast too!" Xiao Manxuan came down and was so surprised to see the delicious breakfast on the table that she couldn’t close her mouth.
In her mind, Lin Tian had always been the cool type of guy, and she hadn’t expected him to have such a gentle side.
"Of course! A new age good man cooks, fights hooligans, and is great in bed. You’d be blissfully happy if you married me," Lin Tian joked.
"Pah, you’re so full of yourself. Who would marry you?" the little girl’s face flushed as she rolled her eyes at Lin Tian, but then she thought something was amiss and asked curiously, "I can understand the first three phrases, but why does a good man need to be ’great in bed’? I can climb into bed too."
"Pfft..." Lin Tian burst out laughing, spraying the millet porridge he had just sipped. This little girl was too innocent, not even knowing what ’great in bed’ implied.
He grabbed a napkin and wiped the table clean, then explained very seriously, "Second Miss, you don’t understand the meaning and yet you equivocate. It means..."
Lin Tian leaned over and whispered a few words into her ear. The little girl let out a loud "Ah" scream, her face turning as red as the dawn sky, and she bowed her head and hurried through her breakfast without daring to look up.
All the way to school, Xiao Manxuan ignored him until they bumped into Liu Wenxing outside the classroom. Only then did the little girl whisper, "You are a big meanie."
Then she dashed into the classroom faster than a rabbit. Lin Tian laughed out loud three times. What could be happier than teasing the spoiled Second Miss?
"Brother Tian, you’re in a good mood today," Liu Wenxing walked up and said.
"As long as a planet hasn’t collided with Earth, why wouldn’t I be?" Lin Tian laughed.
"I was feeling down about something today, but seeing you, Brother Tian, made me feel better," Liu Wenxing said, his serious face breaking into a smile.
Lin Tian patted his shoulder and said, "Feeling upset is just troubling yourself, why bother? Are you trying to tell me that someone wants to kick me out of Xikou City High School?"
"You knew, Brother Tian?" Liu Wenxing asked in surprise.
Faced with another curious kid, Lin Tian ended up telling him about last night’s events. Liu Wenxing didn’t react as humorously as Zhou Botong, mainly because he wasn’t as clued in about Lin Tian’s affairs as Zhou was.
"Don’t worry, I’ll handle it. You go to class and focus on the college entrance exam; that’s what your parents expect," Lin Tian sent him off and entered the classroom.
Just as he stepped into the classroom, Lin Tian heard Fatty Huang say, "Those guys actually wanted to beat me up..."
