Chapter 20 English Class

Chapter 20: Chapter 20 English Class

Although he had been away from school for two years, Lin Tian was still familiar with it. He carried his records and admission notice to the academic affairs office. Elder Han had arranged everything else; he just needed to report. With the Xiao Family being the school’s largest sponsor, getting Lin Tian in was not a difficult task.

The academic affairs office was on the third floor of the administrative building, and Lin Tian was looking for the director of the office. However, when he arrived, the door to the office was closed. After knocking for a long time with no response, Lin Tian simply used X-ray vision and saw that there was no one inside.

After waiting outside the door for about fifteen minutes, Lin Tian checked the time and realized that the first class was almost starting. He thought it over and decided to return during the class break. After all, it was his first day of school, and being late to class was not a flattering scenario.

Just as he was about to leave, a man in his fifties approached from the end of the hallway. Although two years had passed, Lin Tian still recognized him as the Director of Academic Affairs, Director Gao Zhengye. A middle-aged man who always had a stern face with the students, Lin Tian found him somewhat hypocritical—such people often bullied the weak and feared the strong.

"You there, class is about to start. What are you doing here?" Director Gao said in a somewhat unfriendly tone, pointing at Lin Tian.

Lin Tian was slightly annoyed. If he wanted to talk, he could just talk; there was no need for pointing and scolding. He responded expressionlessly, "I’m Lin Tian, here to report to Director Gao," as he handed over his documents.

Upon receiving the documents, Director Gao quickly glanced through them. Suddenly remembering something, his face quickly brightened into a warm smile, and he enthusiastically said, "Ah, it’s Lin Tian. Have you been waiting long? Come in, come in."

He knew that Lin Tian’s admission was personally arranged by the principal, who had even discussed it with him yesterday, instructing him to be polite to this new student. Naturally, Director Gao understood the implications; the principal’s position was secure solely due to the Xiao Family’s sponsorship, and of course, he had to be courteous to anyone from the Xiao Family.

Moreover, having been the Director of Academic Affairs for so many years, and wanting to climb even higher in the ranks before retiring, getting to know someone from the Xiao Family might just be an opportunity. Lin Tian wasn’t surprised by Director Gao’s rapid change in attitude; after all, during his time as a security guard, what kind of people hadn’t he seen?

The stamping was not difficult, and the procedures went quickly. Director Gao did not ask anything else and simply stamped the forms and documents.

"Director Gao, I really appreciate it. You’re busy, I’ll head to class now." He said, maintaining a polite facade.

"Haha, serving the students is our primary duty. There’s no need for thanks—it’s what we should do," Director Gao chuckled, though if one didn’t know better, they might think he was truly noble. Having seen Director Gao hassle other students when he was a freshman, Lin Tian found his words merely amusing.

By the time Lin Tian left the academic office, the bell for class had already rung. It was too late anyway; he would just have to explain the situation to the teacher. By this time, there were no people outside in the classroom. Following the signs, Lin Tian arrived at Class One, Senior Year Three, recalling that the first lesson might be English.

The classroom door was open, and a young male teacher stood at the podium. After knocking on the classroom door, Lin Tian shouted, "Report, teacher!"

Perhaps the English teacher was new, as Lin Tian hadn’t seen him when he was a freshman. Although the teacher clearly heard Lin Tian’s report, he continued to speak unabated, showing no intention of inviting him in.

"Report, Teacher!" Lin Tian yelled again, preferring to walk away rather than stand outside like a fool if it continued.

Now the young male teacher had no choice but to respond, as the whole class had noticed Lin Tian at the door, all craning their necks to see.

"Who are you? What is this shouting in the classroom about?" the young teacher asked, frowning severely, clearly displeased.

"I’ve just enrolled and was assigned to Senior Year Three, Class One." Lin Tian constrained his temper as he explained to the teacher.

As he spoke, many classmates began to stir, clearly some had seen Lin Tian and Xiao Manxuan intimately together.

"Silence!" the young teacher shouted, pointing at Lin Tian, "Then why aren’t you wearing your uniform when you come to class? How can you attend class without a uniform!"

Damn! Lin Tian really got angry, he had said he had just registered, where would he get a uniform from. Besides, if this needed to be checked, it should be the homeroom teacher’s concern, not something an English teacher should be fussing about in the middle of a class!

Who knows if this male teacher was on some kind of stimulant, talking with such fiery temper, was it because he leveraged his youthful good looks to flirt with female students and got reported?

Later, Lin Tian found out the male teacher indeed had a questionable relationship with a female student and had been called for a talk by the administration.

But in that moment, Lin Tian couldn’t stand his baseless anger, so he coldly and sternly said, "I told you, I have just registered, there’s no way I could have a uniform. If you don’t believe me, go and ask Director Gao yourself!"

With a bang, the young teacher slapped the desk hard and roared, "What attitude is this? You’re late and still have the nerve to talk back. I’ve been overseas for so many years and have never seen a student like you. The quality of nationals is poor because of people like you!"

His shout attracted teachers from the neighboring classes, who all came out to see what the fuss was about. The majority of Senior Three Class 1 students were girls; silenced by the teacher’s outburst, none dared to speak. From the young teacher’s words, Lin Tian understood that this man was a so-called overseas returnee, likely possessing an attitude of worshipping anything foreign.

He was quick to criticize how things were done in his own country, which Lin Tian found revolting, a complete betrayal of his roots. Reasoning with such a person was futile. Lin Tian’s eyes chilled as he strode forward, stepping gradually closer to the podium.

"Teacher Wu Li, how can you speak about your own students like that, especially when you’ve never given Lin Tian a chance to explain?" A girl in the class stood up, seriously rebuking the teacher’s words.

Lin Tian looked, speaking was none other than Xiao Manxuan, this fearless little girl. It wasn’t surprising she stood up to speak for him. Wu Li turned and glanced at Xiao Manxuan, his face immediately changing to a genial smile, his eyes surreptitiously sweeping over her pronounced chest, a flicker of desire passing through the depths of his pupils.

Damn it, he’s a wolf in disguise, daring to fancy the Second Miss! His covert actions didn’t escape Lin Tian’s notice. Fury surged in Lin Tian’s heart, and a menacing, bloodthirsty aura filled the classroom.

The temperature in the classroom seemed to drop several degrees. Despite the sun shining brightly outside, everyone couldn’t help but shiver. Wu Li, most of all, felt it acutely; his heart seemed to skip a beat, and his legs gave away, causing him to collapse into his chair.

"What, what do you want to do?" Wu Li stammered in fear.

"What’s going on, isn’t there a class to be taught?" shouted Gao Zhengye from outside the classroom.

It seemed he noticed that the teachers were congregated in the hallway not teaching, which greatly displeased Director Gao. No sooner had he spoken than he appeared outside Senior Three Class 1.

"Ha ha, Lin Tian, I finally found you," Director Gao entered the classroom, chuckling, "I feared you might not know where to go to collect your uniform, so I went out and couldn’t find you. I went ahead and picked it up for you; here are your books and uniform."

"Really appreciate it, Director Gao, thank you," Lin Tian took the large bag from his hands, thanked him, and seeing Director Gao’s amiable smile, it almost gave him the illusion that the director had truly advanced in his service ethos for the students.

The entire class was dumbfounded, seeing their director going out of his way to assist a student was like the sun rising from the west.
