Innate Qi referenced from Li Shizhen’s “Study of the Extraordinary Eight Meridians” where it says, “Every person has these eight meridians, which all belong to the Yin God and are closed without opening, only divinities open them with Yang Qi, therefore attaining Tao.

The Eight Meridians are the roots of Innate Qi, the ancestors of the single Qi.” Hence in the establishment of the Realm, this stage concerning the Extraordinary Eight Meridians is called “Innate Qi.”

The Extraordinary Eight Meridians are a category of the pathways of meridians in the human body.

They comprise the Governor Vessel, Conception Vessel, Thrusting Vessel, Girdle Vessel, Yang Heel Vessel, Yin Heel Vessel, Yin Link Vessel, and Yang Link Vessel.

The Extraordinary Eight Meridians differ from the Twelve Primary Channels as they are not directly affiliated to any organs nor do they have interior-exterior pair relationships and travel uniquely, thus named “Extraordinary.”
