Yugioh Card Summoner -
CH.633 Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy
“Alright. Are you ready to go?” I asked the Card Venturers before we got on the already summoned B.E.S. Covered Core.
Spoiler
[collapse]
I had been warned about the next fissure by Aulis, and thankfully my Card Venturers had all reached level 99, and were ready to take it on.
The location was good enough. It was near-ish to a medium sized town, about the size of Alewatch, so it was important that we take care of the fissure and the fissure monsters with haste. But it wasn’t like in the middle of a city so I didn’t have to bring my strongest as we had some time, and more importantly space. We could keep the monster, or monsters, off of the town with relative ease by using some cards.
In some ways, it really does remind me of that first fissure in Alewatch. Not just the relative size of the town, but the distance from the town to the fissure, the grasslands turned into farmlands surrounding the town and so on. The only thing that is really missing are the semi-wild boars roaming the Alewatch grasslands.
Now I’m no fool. Yes I trust my Venturers to deal with anything, including the potential SS-ranks, but I’m still not taking any chances. I’m just giving them the chance to fight.
So in case anything goes wrong, I did take both Alice and Varuna with me. Varuna is the ‘just in case’ city defense, while Alice can basically deal with anything else. Healing, taking over the fight if needed, or even redirecting attacks of any SS-ranks back towards them. For times when I’m unsure what I need to be prepared for, her unique-racial skill allowing her to just make up new magic on the spot is a godsent.
So after getting the ready confirmations from the Venturers, and Alice, we all got onto a ship and headed for the fissure.
On the location, I let the Venturers do their final prep while Alice gave Varuna some water from Storage, and also set up the Wall of Revealing Light to protect the town. Sure Varuna might seem like a threat to the villagers, some of whom were observing us after I told the local guild master of the situation. But I’m sure Alice and Varuna can figure it out without them going into panic.
So, what was I doing? Well, I was trying something new. I was looking forward in time with Time Magic. I wanted to see the exact place the fissure would appear in, as I wanted to see if I could force one open with Space Magic. In theory I can, but I might not be there yet. It is more in the Dimensional or Reality Magics scape.
But I could use something akin to Gravity Magic before I got the skill for it, so I might be able to step into the realms of Dimensional Magic before I have the skill.
Figuring out the exact spot of the fissure, and even what monsters would come out of it, wasn’t all that difficult. Looking forward in time, even just a bit, is more challenging than recalling the recent past, but still doable.
I didn’t warn the Venturers of what was coming. This was a test for them, to see if they are worthy of the Limit Break skill. And if they are worthy of getting their Card Summoner skill orbs.
Instead, I just focused on the space where the fissure would appear in just 20 hours and used Space Magic to rip that point asunder. It caused the dimensional barrier, which was already extremely weak and just about ready to rip by itself, to tear open, forming into a dimensional fissure.
It was a bit larger than what I saw with Time Magic, so my Space Magic cut was not exactly clean, but it did the job. And it isn’t the worst fissure we’ve seen in terms of size, so it should be well within Exodia’s power to repair.
Speaking of, I summoned the giant and moved back to observe both his work, as well as the fight the Venturers were preparing for.
Maybe because of my poor job in ripping open the fissure, or just ‘my luck’, the Venturers faced a monster I didn’t see in the future I foresaw. Instead of two S-rank mega turtles, one SS-rank world turtle came out of the fissure.
It looked like … well, a giant turtle except that its shell was covered in vegetation and stuff like that. Even some trees were growing on its back. Not tall ones, just like large bushes, but still. How does a … don’t question things in a magical world. With Nature Magic, I could get vines and stuff to grow on my skin if I wanted to.
But back to my Venturers. Since most of them didn’t have Card Summoner, using cards wasn’t ideal for them. I also hadn’t given the one member who had the skill that many cards, but Kurt still had a few.
Like the card he activated. The A. Forces.
Spoiler
[collapse]
Well, the one he is using is actually a slightly modified version. The OG version only gives a Strength boost to people who have a Warrior related class race. But the modified version gives a Strength, Defense and Magic boost, and gives it to you and all of your allies. Sure the buff is only 100 per ally you have with you, but with the nine of them, that is still 900 more to each of their stats. And while that won’t be all too much once they reach even higher levels, for now, that is a decent boost to them.
He then activated a modified version of D2 Shield. I had turned the card into a Continuous Trap that would double the defense of all monsters you control. But the card would be destroyed as soon as any card goes to your GY.
Spoiler
[collapse]
With the stat boosts and their strategy, they went to work. The defense boosts made the world turtle’s attacks not do much, but at the same time, the turtle had a ton of defense so they struggled to damage it.
The turtle was also able to use the energy coming out of the fissure to spawn smaller turtle monsters. They were B-rank, and while B-rank monsters are no problem for the Card Venturers, them with the big SS-rank there caused some minor problems. Especially as all the monsters have high defense, meaning that it took more time to take each one down.
It became a war of attrition, where the side that kept going would win. Luckily things got a lot better after Exodia closed the fissure, since the world turtle could no longer spawn the B-rank turtles to help it.
But it still took over an hour after the fissure was closed for the Venturers to bring the turtle down. It was slashed, burned and pelted with attacks to the point where I was a bit worried how badly damaged the shell would be, as it could be used for some really nice equipment.
But still, I was proud of my Venturers and flew down to them to hear if all of them had gotten their Limit Breaks.
Sadly it seemed like nine was too many, even with an SS-rank opponent, as just six of them got Limit Break. Miris, who was mostly dealing with the smaller turtles and running support, Brooke, who struggled to damage the world turtle with her Water Magic, and Nikki, who was on disruption duty, all missed out on the skill.
I promised I’d take just the three of them with me next time so they could get the skill.
I then collected the turtle materials before we walked back to town. We sold a few of the B-rank turtles to the locals for cheap and we were offered a celebration meal, but the Venturers refused it saying they were just doing their job. Because of that, we soon left and headed for HomeBase.
Oh and I naturally got a new set since we dealt with a fissure. The set being Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy.
And I know what is in this set. I won’t say in case you don’t, but I’ll give you a hint. There are four of them, they are level 7, and they are all banned.1Note: Okay, they aren’t banned anymore, but they were banned when Brian got Isekaid so he wouldn’t know they were later unbanned
And since I have a new set, 10 packs.
Spoiler
LTGY 1
Xyz Block; Stream, Dragon Ruler of Droplets; Summon Breaker; Mecha Phantom Beast Stealthray; Five Brothers Explosion; Starfish; Radius, the Half-Moon Dragon; Fire King Avatar Garunix; Number 69: Heraldry Crest
[collapse]
Okay. New cards, best cards.
Xyz Block is a monster effect negate, so it is nice.
Stream, Dragon Ruler of Droplets should reveal the cards I was teasing earlier. Yeah. They are in this set. Stream itself is good enough, as it can get me a copy of Tidal in case I can’t pull it.
Summon Breaker is interesting. I wish you could activate it from the hand under some conditions, but I suppose you can’t have everything. It is still a decent go first card, as you can set up your board and then limit your opponent. But they will just destroy it before it becomes a problem, so … In short, it should have been a Continuous Trap. Though I suppose you can activate Summon Breaker with Metaverse.
Mecha Phantom Beast Stealthray is really cool. More ships is always better. If I mix it with one of the spaceships, I could have an even more stealthy spaceship. Or I could potentially make a better Blue-Eyes Jet. But I probably want to use a different Mecha Phantom Beast for that. Looking at you, Dracossack. I know you are also in this set.
Five Brothers Explosion is just meh. Gain some life and burn your opponent if they break the card. Not worth.
Starfish is just trash. It doesn’t special summon itself, you can’t use cards like Machine Dupe on it, and I just don’t know how you would flood the field with them so that you could actually use them for something.
Radius, the Half-Moon Dragon is decent in the TCG, depending on the Meta. But for me, it sucks as no one uses Xyz monsters except me.
Fire King Avatar Garunix specials Fire Kings from the deck. But they are Fire Kings and they are mediocre at best.
Last but not least, Number 69: Heraldry Crest. Sadly I didn’t get the absolutely overpowered anime version, but I can probably somehow make this thing into that. Still, even without being the anime variant, Heraldry Crest is good.
So as you just saw, Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy has some great cards. And the next pack will hopefully keep giving me the good stuff.
Spoiler
LTGY 2
Aurora Wing; Battlin' Boxer Headgeared; Starfish; Dragoncarnation; Summon Breaker; Aerial Recharge; Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles; Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi; Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Rhino
[collapse]
Aurora Wing just comes back after being destroyed by battle. Not bad.
Battlin' Boxer Headgeared is cool. He is just a boxer, but having a boxer to be a training partner might be nice.
Dragoncarnation just recovers banished dragons.
Aerial Recharge makes Mecha Phantom Beast Tokens.
Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles is like every other babyruler. Good, but it will just get me the daddyruler.
Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi is probably the last Abyss-scale armor. Maybe. I mean Kraken negates monster effects, Cetus negates traps and now Mizuchi negates spells. So I think that is all of them. And I can work on combining all three into some sort of ultimate underwater armor.
And Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Rhino is fine, but it still only gets an attack boost, and only for the damage calculation. But honestly, Fire Fist monsters don’t usually worry about their attack stats because they have all those Fire Formation spells boosting their attack.
Next pack.
Spoiler
LTGY 3
Green Duston; King of the Feral Imps; Shark Fortress; Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Leopard; Aerial Recharge; Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles; Little Fairy; Panther Shark; Gogogo Gigas
[collapse]
Green Duston is just the ‘give your opponent a terrible monster’ monster. But I do have a question. Why does it say: ‘Cannot be used as a Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz Material for a Summon’ instead of ‘Cannot be used as a material for a summoning from the Extra Deck’? That change in text would have future proofed the card more. It doesn’t really matter, I just think it should have had that line of text.
King of the Feral Imps is great. Sadly it doesn’t special summon stuff so I can’t get things I can’t target with Pack Opener, but I can still get extra copies of all Reptile monsters with ease now.
Shark Fortress redirects attacks to itself and can give a monster the ability to attack twice.
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Leopard is … kind of bad. The Fire Fists already get Fire Formation Spells with relative ease, so why would you tribute a monster just to get to set one?
Little Fairy gains levels with discards. Cool, but why wouldn’t I just summon a monster with the level I need.
Panther Shark normal summons itself without tribute, which I already can do. Or specials itself if you control an Eagle Shark.
And Gogogo Gigas specials itself from the GY if you special summon a Gogogo. Sure it costs you your battle phase, but still.
Next pack.
Spoiler
LTGY 4
Fire King Avatar Garunix; Battlin' Boxer Glassjaw; Summon Breaker; Fire Formation - Kaiyo; Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi; Dragoncarnation; Five Brothers Explosion; Risebell the Star Adjuster; Xyz Revenge
[collapse]
Battlin' Boxer Glassjaw kills itself if it gets targeted for an attack. … It is a boxer. Why does it do that? I know your name is Glassjaw, but still.
Fire Formation - Kaiyo I already got while breaking Pack Opener. Piercing is always nice.
Risebell the Star Adjuster I already had. Again, breaking Pack Opener situation.
And Xyz Revenge is fine for TCG, but for me, well, I’ll never face an Xyz monster. So the card is sadly useless.
Next pack.
Spoiler
LTGY 5
Battlin' Boxer Glassjaw; Mermail Abyssocea; Mecha Phantom Beast Blackfalcon; Little Fairy; Xyz Block; Summon Breaker; Green Duston; Parsec, the Interstellar Dragon; Altitude Knight
[collapse]
Mermail Abyssocea reminds me that I could get some Mermail monsters with card effects. Including now hers.
Mecha Phantom Beast Blackfalcon makes a token when it attacks and has the usual ‘cannot be destroyed while you control a Token’ effect that Mecha Phantom Beasts are known for. And I guess it can also tribute a Token for a battle position switch, but that is kind of meh.
Parsec, the Interstellar Dragon is just a level 8 you can normal summon without tribute if you already control a level 8. Good for TCG but I don’t need it.
And Altitude Knight is just a bad Wind version of Armageddon Knight.
Next pack.
Spoiler
LTGY 6
Legendary Atlantean Tridon; Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Drafts; Mind Drain; Aurora Wing; Fire King Avatar Garunix; Panther Shark; Stream, Dragon Ruler of Droplets; Madolche Hootcake; Battlin' Boxer Lead Yoke
[collapse]
Legendary Atlantean Tridon tributes itself and one other monster to special summon Poseidra, the Atlantean Dragon. I don’t remember what that monster is, but it sounds strong.
Lightning, Dragon Ruler of Drafts is just another babyruler.
Mind Drain might honestly be crazy. I don’t know exactly what it would negate, but if it prevents the use of any and all items, it would be busted. Even if it only counts items you have to ‘use’, like smoke bombs or explosives, it will still be extremely useful. Though it only prevents monster effects, so … I need to test it.
Madolche Hootcake I already had. Again, breaking Pack Opener. Kind of sad that my first higher rarity card was something I already got.
And Battlin' Boxer Lead Yoke is pretty nice. It can prevent the destruction of Battlin' Boxer monsters, and gains attack while it does.
Next pack.
Spoiler
LTGY 7
Little Fairy; Aerial Recharge; Fire King Avatar Garunix; Mimimic; Starfish; Reactan, Dragon Ruler of Pebbles; King of the Feral Imps; Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi; Trifortressops
[collapse]
Mimimic just specials itself from the hand.
As does Trifortressops. But at least Trifortressops is unaffected by other cards' effects.
Next pack.
Spoiler
LTGY 8
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Wolf; Dotedotengu; Mecha Phantom Beast Stealthray; Mermail Abyssocea; Aurora Wing; Fire Formation - Kaiyo; Sonic Warrior; Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders; Harpie Channeler
[collapse]
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Wolf is good enough. Just set both a Trap and a Spell Fire Formation from the deck. Sure I have all of them already, I think, but still nice.
Dotedotengu is too situational.
Sonic Warrior gives an attack buff to low level monsters when it goes to the GY.
Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders is obviously great. Sure it has low attack, but 3k defense is really nice, and it has really good effects.
And Harpie Channeler is great. Basically a free rank 4 or 7 Xyz monster and even outside of that … wait. It special summons from the deck so I can get any and all Harpies with it. It is even better than I first considered.
Next pack.
Spoiler
LTGY 9
Sonic Warrior; Shark Fortress; King of the Feral Imps; Magnum Shield; Mecha Phantom Beast Blackfalcon; Sharkraken; Jewels of the Valiant; Eagle Shark; Trifortressops
[collapse]
Magnum Shield is one of the strongest Equip Spells of all time. In my opinion. The sheer attack boost it can give is crazy. Sure it doesn’t work well with every Warrior-type monster, but most of them have decent attack and defense, so the boosts can easily be over 2k.
Sharkraken specials itself by tributing one Water monster.
Jewels of the Valiant is bad. Just a conditional Foolish Burial. Well, maybe there are some cases where you could use it, but I never will.
And Eagle Shark is just the same as Panther Shark.
Next, and last, pack.
Spoiler
LTGY 10
Gagagawind; Shark Fortress; Fire King Avatar Garunix; Tatakawa Knight; Eagle Shark; Summon Breaker; Sonic Warrior; Radius, the Half-Moon Dragon; Wheel of Prophecy
[collapse]
Gagagawind specials a Gagaga from the hand and treats it as a level 4. Situational but usable.
Tatakawa Knight just burns your opponent if they negate a spell or trap.
And Wheel of Prophecy recovers banished Spellbook cards.
But yeah. That was the first opening of Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy. Sadly I only got two higher rarity cards, and one of them I already had.
I also only got one of the big Dragon Rulers, but at least I got three different baby rulers.
And I didn’t get the one card that made sure Dragon Rulers weren’t tier 0, but maybe next time. Because you better believe there will be a next time. As I said, this is one of the most busted sets of all time. It might have the most banned cards of any set. Probably not, but I know at least 9 cards from this set have been banned at some point. Sure eight of those 9 are the baby and adult Dragon Rulers, but still. The fact that 9 cards from a single set have been on the banlist should be telling.
