Yugioh Card Summoner
CH.583 More Reprints with Hiro

To start off, I guess I can tell you about my attempts at unlocking the Arachne race.

… Yeah, they didn’t go well.

Manamorphic Body might be a cheat skill, but even it has its limits. And making an entire arachne lower body around my legs is not something I could do.

So I tried working from a centaur into an arachne, and it went a bit better, but it was still a mess and I didn’t get the Arachne race.

So I’ll just have to unlock it the ‘regular’ way, by leveling up Poison Making and Web Making. Luckily that isn’t a problem.

Update two, sodas. As I talked about last time, we got a pretty dang good recipe together, and today I was returning to the Empire where we can taste what they’ve made.

Naturally Sharon was with me, but I also took Alice and Cailie with me.

This visit would also double as a strategy meeting. Hiro had gotten a decent list of dhampirs living in the Empire, since I did request that. It didn’t include everyone, just those Hiro could find in a reasonable amount of time, but it was still nice.

He was also putting together 'curing events'. His name, not mine. And they are just dhampir gatherings where Lua and I can cure all the dhampirs who show up.

In the food institute, we tested some sodas. And yeah, they were better than last time. Hiro showed that they had used the info Sharon and I sent them to quickly advance what they could do. Even outside of the sodas.

But the big thing is, because of the artificial vanillin, one of the few expensive ingredients in soda, Hiro and the food institute had been able to bring the price of soda down so it could actually be offered to regular people. For prices cheaper than alcohol.

I would be worried about things like cavities and other problems sugar can cause, but I’m really not. Healing Magic can heal that stuff, especially Earth attribute healing magic. Teeth are essentially made of minerals, and a skilled Earth Magic user can manipulate them.

And evolutions do remove all problems with the physical body like that. Which is something I would have liked to have known before I regrew Agatha’s arm using my cards. I could have just evolved her with Level Up!s instead. Wouldn’t have had to change her race. Well it would have, but an evolution is a more natural process.

After the food institute visit, we headed for the castle. I was going to open some packs with Hiro, while Alice and Cailie did something with Saffee. Maybe some magic practice? I’ll ask them later.

But I’ve had a few new reprint sets for a bit, and I want to open some of them. And Hiro is the perfect partner in crime for that.

For the pack opening, I brought out some Sweet Corn popcorn. It was an okay hit on HomeBase. Most liked it, but they didn’t go crazy over it. Maybe I need to have my monsters make some movies and I can have movie nights. That might show everyone why soda and popcorn are amazing. And it wouldn’t be difficult to make a movie in the Factory.

“You have popcorn!?” Hiro asked. “How? Isn’t the corn grown in Bella Kingdom and the Saviar region unsuitable for popcorn?”

“... admittedly, I never attempted it with that stuff.” I told him. “I made this from my monster, Sweet Corn.” I said as I showed Hiro the card.

“... you eat your monsters? Isn’t that … I was going to say cannibalism, but it would be just barbaric. Unless you eat the human looking monsters.”

“Yeah I eat them. Mystik Wok is my best friend. And yeah, it is a bit … questionable, but dragon meat is delicious, as are all Naturia monsters. Well, most Naturia monsters. Eggplant, Cherries, Pineapple, Pumpkin, Pumpkin. Pick your fruit or berry and it will taste good.”

“You eat dragons? Do you have Blue-Eyes meat? Can I have some?” Hiro asked.

“Sorry, the Blue-Eyes are sacred. I don’t eat them. I do have Tyrant Dragon meat, if you want some. And a few others, but Tyrant Dragon is my go to.”

“Any dragon jerky? To go with the popcorn?”

“Sure do.” I said, as I brought out a little holder and then filled it with stick jerky made from Tyrant Dragon meat.

Now to the opening. We are starting with five packs of Dark Legends. I did check that I have everything from the set, but I already forgot the setlist so this is kind of exciting.

Spoiler

DLG1 1

Magic Jammer; Giant Rat; UFO Turtle; Axe of Despair; Summoned Skull; Luminous Spark; Shining Angel; Lord of D.; Giant Germ; Harpie Lady Sisters; Jirai Gumo; Des Mosquito

[collapse]

“Ooh! Summoned Skull! Can I summon it?” Hiro asked.

“... do you want to summon a demon? It can get you some bad rep. Actually, is it illegal in the Empire? It currently is in the Kingdoms, but I’ve been trying to change that, since I figured out how to summon demons safely.”

“... of course you did. But no, you can do it. But you do need to have a registered observer. It actually goes for all Summoning Magic. We don’t want someone having a super powerful summonable beast without us knowing.” Hiro explained.

“Okay. Thanks for the info.” I said, as I took the just pulled Summoned Skull out of Pack Opener and handed it to Hiro. “For emergencies.” I told him. “You know it is a one-time-use card.”

“Yes. Thank you.”

Spoiler

DLG1 2

Mystic Tomato; Cannon Soldier; Jirai Gumo; Kuriboh; Man-Eater Bug; Gaia The Fierce Knight; Hane-Hane; Black Pendant; Painful Choice; Hyozanryu; Sonic Bird; Penguin Soldier

[collapse]

“Can you pilot Cannon Soldier like a mech?” Hiro asked. “And is Painful Choice crazy powerful for you? Actually, how do draw cards work? I don’t think we ever talked about that.”

“You can’t pilot Cannon Soldier, not without modifications. But you can pilot some Machine-type monsters.” I answered the first question. “And draw cards just give me more Pack tokens. Painful Choice doesn’t. It just gives me five cards from a set of my choosing, I get to pick one and keep it, and the others disappear. It is okay, but nothing special.”

“... so Pot of Greed is busted?

“Hasn’t it always been?” I asked.

“I suppose so.” Hiro admitted.

Spoiler

DLG1 3

Umiiruka; Seven Tools of the Bandit; Sonic Bird; Rising Air Current; Left Arm of the Forbidden One; Harpie Lady Sisters; Shining Angel; Senju of the Thousand Hands; Magic Jammer; Maha Vailo; Penguin Soldier; Nova Summoner

[collapse]

“Exodia! We got a piece!” Hiro called out.

“Sure did. They aren’t that rare in reprint sets.” I told him.

“But he is like … a super god!”

“Or just a Spellcaster, depends on who you ask. Well, I’d say a Divine-Spellcaster, but that is just me.”

Spoiler

DLG1 4

Flying Kamakiri #1; Mystic Tomato; Sonic Bird; Upstart Goblin; Thunder Dragon; Umiiruka; Harpie Lady; Hyozanryu; Gaia The Fierce Knight; Manga Ryu-Ran; Giant Trunade; Gate Guardian

[collapse]

“Gate Guardian! You have summoned him, right? It is good the way you use monsters, right? You can summon it pretty easily, right?”

“Sure can. And yeah, Gate Guardian is cool. Way better than just big numbers. It even has some of the effects of the materials, so it is really good.”

“Yes. That sounds so much better. Why does the card actually suck?” Hiro asked.

“Because Konami, that’s why. They didn’t know how to balance the game back then.”

“Do they know how to do that now?”

“... probably not.” I admitted.

Spoiler

DLG1 5

Toon Mermaid; Gaia The Fierce Knight; Axe of Despair; Thousand Dragon; Harpie Lady; Luminous Spark; Black Illusion Ritual; Cannon Soldier; Manga Ryu-Ran; Mystical Space Typhoon; Trap Hole; Des Mosquito

[collapse]

“Can Ritual Spells be used for something else than Ritual summoning?” Hiro asked.

“... that’s actually a good question. I’ve never used them for anything else, but maybe they can be? I’ll run some experiments and get back to you on that.” I promised.

That was five packs of Dark Legends. Time for a set change.

The second set is Gold Series 2.

Spoiler

GLD2 1

[collapse]

“Six Samurai! You have a Samurai army! I need one!” Hiro decided. “Can I borrow a few so they can train me some samurai?”

“I’ll think about it. I can send the info about samurai armor, but lending out avatar dolls… I’ll need to think on that.”

“What are avatar dolls?”

“... I’ll tell you when you visit HomeBase.”

Spoiler

GLD2 2

Volcanic Shell; The Six Samurai - Irou; Zaborg the Thunder Monarch; Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch; Treeborn Frog; Lord Poison; Winged Rhynos; Shien's Castle of Mist; Double-Edged Sword Technique; Phantom Beast Rock-Lizard; Lekunga; Elemental HERO Neos Alius; Phantom Beast Thunder-Pegasus; Mobius the Frost Monarch; The Six Samurai - Yariza; Exile of the Wicked; Rigorous Reaver; Snipe Hunter; The Six Samurai - Kamon; The Six Samurai - Zanji; The Six Samurai - Yaichi; Granmarg the Rock Monarch; Necro Gardna; Caius the Shadow Monarch; Test Tiger

[collapse]

“Are Monarchs good? I think they were considered a good archetype, but do you like them?” Hiro asked.

“I didn’t play with them seriously in the TCG. Just some fun duels with simulators. As for ‘real life’ use, they are decently good. They are actually really good teachers when it comes to attribute magic. They know some rare and powerful spells.”

Spoiler

GLD2 3

Phantom Beast Rock-Lizard; Winged Rhynos; The Six Samurai - Yariza; Lord Poison; Elemental HERO Neos Alius; Phantom Beast Thunder-Pegasus; Compulsory Evacuation Device; Rigorous Reaver; Six Samurai United; Giant Trunade; Lekunga; Phantom Beast Wild-Horn; The Six Samurai - Yaichi; Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch; The Six Samurai - Irou; Double-Edged Sword Technique; Snipe Hunter; Granmarg the Rock Monarch; Begone, Knave!; Return of the Six Samurai; Mobius the Frost Monarch; Skyscraper; Veil of Darkness; Elemental HERO Captain Gold; Bottomless Trap Hole

[collapse]

“What about the Elemental Heroes? Are they good?”

“They aren’t bad.” I answered Hiro. “But they do lack a bit in stats. Though I recently got an overpowered card that just doubles the attack of all E-Heroes, so I think I’ll use them more now.”

“... there is a card that does that?” Hiro asked.

“Yeah. A prize card from the World Championships.”

“You can get those?”

“Yeah.” I told him. “I even have Tyler the Great Warrior. So I’m pretty sure I can get anything that has ever been printed, and will ever be printed. Because I have some cards that weren’t printed when I got isekaid.”

“... your skill is way too cool.”

Spoiler

GLD2 4

The Six Samurai - Yaichi; Volcanic Shell; Return of the Six Samurai; The Six Samurai - Yariza; Elemental HERO Neos Alius; The Six Samurai - Irou; Winged Rhynos; Granmarg the Rock Monarch; Phantom Beast Cross-Wing; Warrior Elimination; Shien's Castle of Mist; Snipe Hunter; Double-Edged Sword Technique; Lekunga; Rigorous Reaver; Zaborg the Thunder Monarch; Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch; Mobius the Frost Monarch; The Six Samurai - Nisashi; Phantom Beast Thunder-Pegasus; Skyscraper; Lord Poison; Solemn Judgment; Caius the Shadow Monarch; Future Fusion

[collapse]

“Did you ever make a Volcanic Shell cannon? A blaze accelerator?”

“No, not yet. I could, but just never saw the point.”

Spoiler

GLD2 5

Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch; Shien's Castle of Mist; Phantom Beast Thunder-Pegasus; Giant Trunade; Six Samurai United; Phantom Beast Cross-Wing; Elemental HERO Neos Alius; Skyscraper; Snipe Hunter; Warrior Elimination; Phantom Beast Wild-Horn; The Six Samurai - Zanji; The Six Samurai - Yaichi; The Six Samurai - Irou; Lord Poison; Granmarg the Rock Monarch; Winged Rhynos; Mobius the Frost Monarch; Exile of the Wicked; Zaborg the Thunder Monarch; Double-Edged Sword Technique; Return of the Six Samurai; Solemn Judgment; Bottomless Trap Hole; Prime Material Dragon

[collapse]

“Prime Material Dragon must be nice. Just turn damage into healing.” Hiro commented.

“Just indirect sources. Like poison, or if you turn the floor into lava.” I told him. “It doesn’t turn actual targeted attacks into healing.”

“Oh. Well, that is still good.”

“Yeah, it is.”

And that was Gold Series 2. Time for the next, and last, set.

And that set is Retro Pack 2. Electric Retroloo. Or something like that.

Spoiler

RP02 1

Spirit Message "A"; Opticlops; Bazoo the Soul-Eater; Thousand-Eyes Idol; Guardian Sphinx; Gravekeeper's Assailant; Emergency Provisions; Premature Burial; Beta The Magnet Warrior

[collapse]

“Oh. These are some really old cards. That’s cool. What is your favorite?” Hiro asked.

“Probably Emergency Provisions. It makes these healing crackers that taste … well, not much, but they heal a lot.”

“Not the Spirit Message? Don’t you like instant kill attacks like that?”

“Destiny Board is too slow for actual use. Sure it can kill anything, but the wait is too long.”

“Ah. Okay. I assumed you could just activate all five cards in a row and kill something that way.”

“... you know, there is something wrong with hearing an eight year old speak about death like that.” I commented.

Spoiler

RP02 2

Dark Spirit of the Silent; Gravekeeper's Chief; Appropriate; Skull Invitation; Yata-Garasu; Spirit Message "I"; Nobleman of Crossout; Thousand-Eyes Idol; Alpha The Magnet Warrior

[collapse]

“Yata-Garasu! Is it good? Are Spirit monsters good?”

“Not really, no. They don’t return to my hand until they attack. And if they don’t, they can’t harm anything. And immediately after they attack, they return to my hand. But they can go through walls and stuff, so that is cool.”

“Okay. So good, but not that good.”

“Basically.” I confirmed.

Spoiler

RP02 3

Spear Dragon; Parasite Paracide; Spirit Message "L"; Dust Tornado; Yata-Garasu; Spirit Message "N"; Mad Sword Beast; Goblin Attack Force; Infinite Cards

[collapse]

“Is Infinite Cards good? What does it even do?” Hiro asked. “For you, I mean.”

“It is fine. It removes the summoning limit I have, since I can hold more than one card in hand with it. But I’ve never actually used it in combat, because just a few monsters can deal with basically anything.”

Spoiler

RP02 4

Mad Sword Beast; Gravekeeper's Chief; Lightning Blade; Gravity Bind; Torrential Tribute; Thousand-Eyes Idol; Melchid the Four-Face Beast; Skull Invitation; The Legendary Fisherman

[collapse]

“You’ve made a lightning sword, right? You must have, right?”

“Of course I have. Who do you take me for? Someone who doesn’t have access to a legendary smith?”

“... I didn’t know that you have one.”

“Two, actually.”

“... Can I borrow one?”

“Sorry, no can do. National security already prevents me from selling legendary weapons, so I can’t lend legendary smiths either.”

Spoiler

RP02 5

Magic Drain; Spirit Message "A"; Emergency Provisions; Skull Invitation; Gemini Elf; Insect Imitation; Lightforce Sword; Spear Dragon; Magical Hats

[collapse]

“Gemini Elf, huh? Brian, have you done it with your monsters?” Hiro asked.

“Again, an eight year old shouldn’t be asking that. But no, I haven’t. I have a few monsters that want to do it, mainly Yubel, but I refuse to do that.” I told him.

“Okay. … but why?”

“I think for the same reason as I refuse to do it with a slave. It just feels like forcing myself onto them. My monsters do whatever I tell them to do. So it feels wrong.”

“Ah. Okay. I understand.”
