Young Noble Be Monster Slaying
Chapter 910: The Diary of Lackey B (Side Story 2)

June 6th. Sunny.

The sun shone brightly. The day was perfectly breezy. And the lingering scent of soy sauce roast duck filled the air.

I had sweet fermented rice with berries for breakfast. It was delicious and surprisingly fresh. It's a pity the recipe's too complicated for the dish to be made by many.

For lunch, I ate the hind leg of a bēn beast from the Western Regions. It was chewy, juicy, and fatty, with a rich aftertaste. But it was painfully expensive. I don't know when I'll get the chance to eat it every day until I'm full, but I anticipate it.

The final of the Mount Shu Summit was today.

Dinner was stir-fried bamboo shoots from the Western Mountains. It had been a long time since I last had them, but they were still as light and tasty as ever. I like them.

July 1st. Sunny.

The sun was pale and looked like a perfectly round sugar cake hanging in the sky.

In the morning, I tried the local pastries and desserts in the capital of Yu. Most were a bit coarse. Only the water chestnut cake was worth remembering. Disappointed.

The Mount Shu Sect claimed the championship at the Assembly of Immortal Sects.

Lunch was the Twelve-Color Vegetarian Platter from Monastery Tower—an elaborately made dish with a variety of flavors. It truly lived up to the name. Really happy.

Dinner was hot pot in a copper pot. The meat quality was excellent. I felt thankful. But when I heard they were invited into the palace to try Qinghong meat, I couldn't help feeling quite sad and envious.

April 12th. Sunny.

Today, the sun felt like a roaring furnace. Walking under it, I felt like a suckling pig roasting in a hanging oven. There was even a sheen of oil on my skin.

In the morning, I tried the South Sea Furious Swordfish. Best served in thin slices. I dipped them in spicy red oil for three counts, then into sesame sauce. Crisp and smooth. Excellent. I loved it.

At noon, I tried wild boar from Storm Mountain. It's not suitable for hot pot. Best as thick cuts, grilled and dusted with fine sugar. Delicious. Sadly, the meat is a rarity. I had to sneak bites. Slightly regretful.

Ran into Big Boss today. First time in six years. Completely unexpected.

In the evening, I tried Heavenly Beetle Fruit from the Western Regions. Sweet and rich. Best juiced and poured over ice. The texture was wonderful. It can be mass-produced too. Delighted.

May 5th. Gloomy.

The sky was filled with dense clouds today, like large slices of steamed perch spread across the heavens.

In the morning, I sampled a variety of zongzi. I still believe the sweet ones are the only authentic kind. The rest are just heresy. They're meant to be paired with realgar wine, but they tasted awful. I switched to fruit wine instead. Much better.

The junior sister from the South Melody Conservatory whom I've had a crush on for two years turned me down.

Had the Southern Regions' coiled serpent stew for lunch. It tasted strange and gamey. Not good at all. Heartbroken.

Dinner was a group feast. They brought out fresh bēn beast meat. Ecstatic.

August 6th. Heavy rain.

The sea of clouds soaked up today's rain like when sauce is poured over a freshly steamed dish.

In the morning, I tried the famed venison from Mount Yellow Deer. It didn't live up to its fame. The meat was lean, tough, dry, and stringy, but it was rich in spiritual energy. That said, if all you want is spiritual energy, you might as well take a pill. Disappointed.

The Penglai Supreme Sect launched an attack on the sect. I didn't get to eat lunch. Furious.

Didn't have many options for dinner. Bought a feast of roasted Heng-raised lamb without much thought. The leg was deliciously fatty, crisp on the outside and tender within. Absolutely divine.

October 18th. Sunny.

The sky was clear, not a single cloud in sight. It looked like a calm pot of bone broth.

In the morning, I sampled an Old Immortal's Mushroom. I saw my great-grandmother waving at me from a mountaintop. Then I saw copper coins scattered all over the mountain. The wind blew, smacking me in the face.

When I regained clarity, I found out that it had not been the wind. It was Jiang Huaixu who kept slapping me in the face over and over. It took me quite a while for the mushroom's effects to wear off. The mushroom was definitely poisonous, but it was also incredibly tasty. It should only be eaten under a senior or elder's supervision, and it's absolutely necessary to detox right after.

At noon, I went to look for the mushrooms again, but I found the entire patch of mushrooms had been eaten. It was the work of a girl from Treasured Pagoda Peak. Furious.

Later, I found out she's the ninth-realm Demon God. No wonder she didn't hallucinate.

However, not long after, she stirred up trouble and smashed up Treasured Pagoda Peak. She claimed she never saw any hallucinations. Bullshit.

Sampled zhilanti vegetables[1] from the Divine Ruins in the evening. Definitely one of the most delicious things in the world. It doesn't matter how you cook it. It always turns out great.

I heard that Big Boss is heading to the Divine Ruins soon, so I asked if he could dig up a cartful of zhilanti vegetables for me. He refused.

And he even scolded me.
