World's No. 1 Swordsman
Chapter 60: Hit Him! Just Hit Him!

Chapter 60: Hit Him! Just Hit Him!

Sword intent coursed through Wang Sheng, and his eyes glinted with a sense of battle spirit.

The tall man clearly didn't expect the young man before him to possess such a sharp sword intent. Not only did his killing intent fail to crush the young man outright, but the latter's sword intent even cleaved it apart.

Tearing through the killing intent, the sword intent stirred up waves of primal qi, which surged back and forth between Wang Sheng and the two men.

Chaotic winds howled as Wang Sheng locked eyes with the duo.

The tall man chuckled coldly, his eyes gleaming with provocation. He casually tossed the Tang blade back onto the SUV's rear seat.

His intention was clear and simple; if he used his sword against Wang Sheng, he was confident that he would win too easily. Hence, he intentionally gave Wang Sheng more room to show his abilities.

The short man beside him furrowed his brow slightly but only snorted in dissatisfaction.

Behind Wang Sheng, the short-haired woman was already in a half-conscious state. Despair filled her eyes as she stared at Wang Sheng's back.

Now, she fully understood what their elders meant by their message.

An expert is here.

This was not the first time that she had seen the two men; they were after something in her possession. After one of its elders' strongholds was attacked, the club immediately assumed that the two were behind it.

Now, it was clear that they were mistaken.

He protected Chi Wen and crippled my cultivation... Who exactly is he? she wondered.

None of it mattered anymore. A trace of ruthless determination flickered in the short-haired woman's eyes. Though her lips trembled so much that she couldn't even speak, she still managed to gather the last wisp of her primal qi in her palm.

With a flick of her wrist, two silver needles shot toward Wang Sheng's back.

Wang Sheng tilted his head slightly. Having already pushed his spiritual consciousness to its limit, he naturally detected the movement behind him. He easily dodged the needles with a slight shift.

Almost simultaneously, the tall man lunged at Wang Sheng. Flicking aside the hem of his suit jacket with both hands, he drew two dark-red daggers from his waist, gripping the one in his left hand normally and the other in reverse. He was so fast that he seemingly left behind afterimages!

Though unarmed and clearly at a disadvantage, Wang Sheng remained composed. He took half a step back, tapped his toes against the ground, and shifted to the side.

Against an ordinary opponent, his Seven-Star Footwork would be nearly impossible to follow. However, the tall man moved in an eerily unnatural manner. He twisted and turned to pursue Wang Sheng like a shadow.

The duo in suits was clearly not all bark; they were truly skilled.

Relying on the finesse of his Seven-Star Footwork, Wang Sheng constantly evaded and attempted to maneuver behind or to the side of the tall man, aiming to counter with his fists and palms.

To his dismay, the tall man's movements just kept becoming increasingly bizarre. They bore a faint resemblance to the Daoist sects' Eight-Trigram Dragon Step, though they were far more uncanny.

The students in the area were completely frozen now. All they could see were two blurred figures weaving and entangling within a ten-meter-diameter circle. Despite the lack of space for acceleration, the two were still astonishingly fast.

Growing frustrated after multiple missed attacks, the tall man fired two blood-colored beams from his daggers, causing a crimson flash. With a sweeping motion, he bombarded Wang Sheng with a flurry of blade radiances!

In an instant, a swarm of spectral blood daggers had surrounded Wang Sheng!

His heart sank. If the man had been wielding his main weapon, Wang Sheng wouldn't have stood a chance, especially not without his sword.

Forcing his true essence to surge, Wang Sheng repeatedly bounced on his toes as he retreated gracefully. He then formed a sword finger with his right hand, releasing a vast surge of true essence to counter the waves of blood-colored light.

Unfortunately, he had no other choice; this was the only way he could hold the enemy at bay.

When it came to true essence, Wang Sheng was already on par with an early-stage Seed Formation Realm cultivator. However, the tall man had cultivated an aura of pure malevolence, which seemed to specialize in countering Daoist techniques. With just a few swings of his daggers, he effortlessly cleaved apart Wang Sheng's true essence attacks.

As if Wang Sheng had provoked his bloodlust, intense battle spirit flickered in the man's gaze. The air around him thickened with killing intent enough to nearly become visible.

With a stomp, he pounced like a savage tiger breaking free of its cage. He thrust his daggers—his bloodthirsty fangs—straight at Wang Sheng!

Unarmed and unable to condense energy into a sword, Wang Sheng could only avoid direct confrontation.

He once again unleashed the brilliance of his Seven-Star Footwork. Seven shifting stars seemingly revolved beneath him, allowing his movements to flow seamlessly between them. As he dodged, in his peripheral vision, he noticed the short man rushing toward the short-haired woman.

He could not allow that.

He feigned a sudden charge toward the tall man, baiting him into preparing for a head-on strike. However, just before the daggers could claim his life, Wang Sheng sharply veered to the side and headed straight for the short man, leaving behind a streak of starlight.

"Do you wish to die?"

The short man shot Wang Sheng a sidelong glance and raised his palm, conjuring the phantasm of a flood dragon. The dragon's head tilted back and roared before hurtling toward Wang Sheng's chest.

Realizing he had been tricked, the tall man silently gave chase, his daggers gleaming with condensed blood energy!

The duo seemed to be at the Seed Formation Realm. Even though the Yin-Yang Cult was still in its dormant phase, they already had several experts. Their strength and influence were clearly far beyond ordinary evil cultivator organizations.

As Wang Sheng swiftly analyzed his opponents, he found himself in a perilous situation. A deadly palm strike rushed toward him head-on, and blood-colored dagger light closed in from behind.

Nevertheless, he remained unshaken. He even smiled faintly at the short man!

Like a kun fish leaping toward the sky or a dragon emerging from the abyss, he pressed his palm toward the ground, bent his knees slightly, and leaped into the air without losing any of his forward momentum!

Suspended upside down in midair, Wang Sheng sent over a dozen Wind-Chasing Palm Strikes at the short man!

If only I had a sword in hand right now...

Wang Sheng righted himself in midair just as he was about to land. Utilizing the momentum, he rolled forward and sprang up, grabbing the unconscious short-haired woman with one hand. Without hesitation, he flung her like a sack in the direction that he had come from, throwing her over ten meters away. Yet, he used just the right amount of force to ensure the impact wouldn't hurt her.

Wang Sheng had fully calmed down. Still, the short-haired woman was the key to taking down the Supernatural Revelation Club. He couldn't let her die here.

Amid his fight, he saw his senior sister rushing toward him.

The entire sequence flowed seamlessly. From landing, rolling, and throwing, his precision was almost unnatural. Even his two Seed Formation Realm enemies were momentarily taken aback.

Wang Sheng himself was a little surprised as well. He had gambled on instinct, but the result turned out better than expected.

Standing before the two evil cultivators, he smiled faintly once more, his expression as calm as ever.

"End this already," the short man muttered.

All around them, students had pulled out their phones to record, and drones hovered above, capturing everything from the sky. While they didn't interfere with the battle, they certainly added pressure.

The tall man silently put away his daggers and raised his left hand toward the open SUV door. With a slight bend of his fingers, a sharp whistle cut through the air. As though it were alive, the Tang blade shot out of the vehicle and straight into his grasp.

As the man unsheathed his weapon, a surge of blood-red energy pulsed outward. His killing aura flared up, sending a chill down Wang Sheng's spine.

What a vicious weapon!

The blade was three feet eight inches long, single-edged, and as thin as a cicada's wing. A deep blood groove ran from its tip to hilt, and its edge was shaped like a venomous serpent with its mouth wide open. The handle was textured with fine, scale-like patterns.

Wang Sheng instinctively filled up with aversion. He felt as though the blade and its wielder were his natural arch enemies.

Without warning, the duo moved in simultaneously.

Gripping his weapon with both hands, the tall man ignited a three-inch blade radiance along its edge. He then lunged forward with a slash nearly twenty percent faster than before, avoiding unnecessary flourishes.

Wang Sheng immediately dodged to the side. He had thrown the short-haired woman away specifically to give himself more room to maneuver.

His Seven-Star Transposition shifted fluidly beneath him. Just as he landed, a deafening crack of thunder rang out. Three or four black lightning bolts, each as thick as a pinky finger, came streaking toward him from the side!

With no time to dodge, Wang Sheng formed a true essence shield to take the hit head-on. The impact sent him skidding backward and made him tremble.

Having drawn a black wooden sword, the short man now rapidly chanted under his breath, channeling his mana into the surrounding primal qi. One after another, bolts of black lightning formed and rained down on Wang Sheng.

The two had clearly fought together many times before. Their coordination was seamless.

Just as Wang Sheng was about to focus on countering the lightning, the blood-colored blade slashed down on him again!

The Tang blade was made for cleaving; it was fast, precise, and brutally efficient. Its sheer ability to kill in combat was terrifying.

Worse, the weapon was perfectly matched with the tall man's sinister killing aura. Under normal circumstances, dealing with just one of them would have been difficult enough. Now, with the short man's black lightning constantly interfering, Wang Sheng was truly struggling.

For the first time in their battle, he was losing ground, barely keeping himself unharmed thanks to the Seven-Star Footwork's profound agility.

The man’s blade could be avoided, but the lightning was another matter. Having taken several direct hits, his left arm was already singed black.

One step back. Three steps. Seven, maybe eight more.

Wang Sheng quickly found himself retreating toward the unconscious woman. Any further, and he'd risk losing this crucial target.

At that moment, a sharp gust of wind roared behind him, and his spiritual consciousness detected a fast-approaching shadow. As it drew nearer, it suddenly lost all momentum.

Wang Sheng's heart leaped with excitement. A quick glance was enough for him to know that it was a stripped wooden staff, wrapped in a layer of true essence that was all too familiar to him.

He reached back and caught the staff. Right after, his palm surged with true essence as he shaped it into a sword.

This was the result of wielding a wooden sword for two years!

Seven-Star Sword, descend from the heavens and summon the Big Dipper!

With the "staff-sword" in hand, Wang Sheng launched a counterattack. In the blink of an eye, dozens of sword radiances shot forth, forming the Seven-Star Sword Formation and forcing the swordsman to stop.

A series of sharp clangs rang out as several sword radiances struck the Tang blade from both sides, disrupting its trajectory.

Using a wooden sword in this manner burned his true essence at an alarming rate, but Wang Sheng wasn't concerned. With a flick of his wrist, another dozen slashes cut through the air, forcing the tall man to retreat.

Buzz—!

More black lightning crackled toward him from the front. However, Wang Sheng didn't even glance at it. After all, his spiritual consciousness had already detected a familiar presence arriving behind him.

Wang Sheng locked eyes with the swordsman and braced for a charge.

As the black lightning shot toward his head and chest, a slender hand reached out beside him. As a faint Tai Chi pattern formed on its palm, it veered the lightning off course with the lightest motion, disrupting the short man's focus.

Beside Wang Sheng, the ever-graceful Mu Wanxuan radiated an unshakable presence. Her long hair cascaded like a waterfall, encompassing her cool and serene expression. As always, she looked unaffected by the mortal world, but her usually tranquil eyes now betrayed a flicker of anger.

Who dares bully my junior brother?!

"Attack!"

Mu Wanxuan thrust her palm forward, sending a wave of opposing forces that intertwined yet repelled each other. The impact made the air itself ripple.

At the same time, Wang Sheng shot forward like an arrow loose from a bow. His wooden sword was now fully enveloped in layers of true essence.

He no longer cared about conserving energy; they had to end this fight in the next few moves!
