World-Ending Demon Emperor -
Chapter 503 - 263: The method to save Liren!
Chapter 503: 263: The method to save Liren!
In this world, men have two obsessions when it comes to toys, cars, and guns.
Even toddlers have an extraordinary affection for toy guns.
This is because every man harbors a pursuit for and enthusiasm about power and destruction. Without a doubt, a gun is one of the best extensions of power.
With a gun, even a child can defeat a much stronger enemy.
The same goes for the children of this other world, where guns have never existed before, hence the impact and fascination are even greater.
As for Suo Lun, a student of the liberal arts, could he make a firearm?
Please, the most primitive firearms are the easiest to make. Even illiterate rural folks on Earth can do it as long as they have a steel pipe and gunpowder. That’s essentially all you need.
At this moment, Suo Lun has several secret laboratories at his disposal, a Magician, and hundreds of Alchemists.
So with gunpowder, of course, came firearms.
Gunpowder is a major weapon, the rudimentary and crude proportions of black powder—seven parts charcoal to two parts sulfur and one part saltpeter—is something that perhaps 70 to 80 percent of men who have been to university on Earth know.
But Suo Lun never brought out this major weapon.
First, because it was too revolutionary, it could even change the pattern of warfare.
Next, the black powder known by Suo Lun was too weak.
And finally, gunpowder had to be used in conjunction with cannons to unleash its maximum power.
However, in Suo Lun’s plan, cannons were the weapons of mass destruction he intended to use after he became the Regent King, in his campaign to conquer the Barbarian Domain.
Using cannons against the Barbarians, that was where they would be most fierce and sharp. Even in the future, when annihilating other nations to unify the world and establish a legacy not inferior to the Dragon Emperor’s, artillery could serve as a super weapon.
The Dragon Emperor was awesome, having saved and unified the whole Human World by his singular martial might. Therefore, Suo Lun could only rely on his golden finger.
...
Back to the point, at this moment, all of Ashi Yuanba’s attention was fixed on the gun Suo Lun held—the gaze he had for the firearm was nearly fanatical.
Suo Lun said, "Ashi Yuanba, are you willing to take me as your mentor now?"
Ashi Yuanba immediately took his gaze off the gun and his expression cooled down as he said, "Don’t rush, I still have three questions. Answer them, and I will take you as my mentor. No teacher before has been able to answer these."
Suo Lun nodded, "Ask away."
Ashi Yuanba went on, "Do you think the Dragon Faith is invariably just?"
This question startled Suo Lun, the child was incredibly precocious, asking such a profound question at merely ten years old.
He could imagine the responses of other teachers.
Either, as a devout believer in the dragon faith, speaking with fiery righteousness.
Or, as an extremist, denouncing the dragon faith as a sham and a conspiracy.
Meanwhile, Ashi Liren’s beautiful eyes were also watching Suo Lun, waiting for his response.
Suo Lun said, "First of all, it’s no secret that the Dragon Faith has become a tool for the Dragon Temple to control the world, and the Dragon Temple is indeed full of darkness and decay, maintaining its rule by deceiving humanity. However, the dragon is the source of human civilization, the root of human energy. When you grow up and explore certain ancient ruins, you’ll find out how strong and prosperous the civilizations under the true Dragon Faith are. Therefore, the Dragon Faith is the foundation of human civilization, and ultimately, it is indeed just."
Ashi Yuanba listened intently, especially to the latter part of the answer, his eyes lighting up completely.
Then he asked another question, "Why are the Barbarian Tribes considered evil? Why are they seen as primitive and backward? What fundamental difference do they have from us humans?"
All truths about the Barbarian Tribes had been erased by the Dragon Temple.
Now the whole world only knows that the Barbarian Tribes are uncivilized, savage beasts without culture. As to why the Barbarian Tribes are evil, everyone’s answer is simply because they are evil, and that’s why they are evil.
Suo Lun responded, "Because of different beliefs, because of different sources of power. Human civilization worships dragons, being descendants of dragons, all power comes from the Dragon Bloodline. The Barbarian Tribes worship demons, they are descendants of demons, all their power comes from the Demon Bloodline. These are two inherently opposing energies, so from the day they were born, they were destined to be enemies. Moreover, the Barbarian Tribes are not without civilization; in fact, the armies of demons have several times destroyed human civilization. The past few thousand years since the Dragon Emperor united the Human Kingdoms are merely a difficult resurgence from the destruction of human civilization."
This answer had Ashi Yuanba trembling with excitement.
And Ashi Liren’s beautiful eyes looked at Suo Lun with amazement. This was definitely a secret of the highest order, known by very few. How could this scholar, Mr. Yan Ziyu, be aware of it?
Ashi Yuanba continued, "My third question, do you think the Dragon Emperor is still alive?"
Suo Lun nodded, "I think he might be."
Ashi Yuanba went on, "Where do you think he could be?"
After a moment’s silence, Suo Lun said, "I vaguely have an answer in my mind, but I cannot say it. Your mother knows why I cannot say it, because once it is spoken, infinite calamities will befall both the listener and the speaker."
At this reply, Ashi Yuanba felt as if he was on the cusp of touching upon the highest truth of the world, his entire body quivering with excitement.
Then, without another word, he knelt down and worshipfully said, "The student, Ashi Yuanba, greets the teacher."
He even respectfully kowtowed three times.
Suo Lun smiled and said, "You don’t even know if my answers to the three questions are right or wrong, so why do you take a mentor so hastily?"
Ashi Yuanba said, "But the areas you have answered are ones I know nothing about. Whether right or wrong, it all proves your understanding of this world far exceeds others, and that makes you qualified to be my teacher."
Suo Lun said, "The most taboo thing in learning is to expect immediate success. Should I teach whatever comes next, and you just learn it, instead of you learning what you wish and I teach accordingly? If you agree to this, I’m willing to become your teacher."
"Yes, Teacher," responded Ashi Yuanba.
Ashi Yuanba then kowtowed three more times.
Suddenly, he looked up and said, "Teacher, I have another question unrelated to becoming your disciple. May I ask it?"
"You may ask," Suo Lun replied. "As your teacher, it’s my duty to clear your doubts."
Ashi Yuanba earnestly asked, "With your profound knowledge, do you know how to cure my mother’s illness?"
The question caught Ashi Liren slightly off guard. The warmth in her eyes as she looked at her son indicated she hadn’t expected Ashi Yuanba to ask this.
Moreover, how did the child even know about her condition?
Ashi Yuanba explained, "Sometimes Mother faints for no apparent reason. And her body is always icy cold."
It seemed Suo Lun had utterly conquered the boy with his knowledge, instilling the belief that Suo Lun was omniscient. Thus, he even entrusted the hope of curing his mother to Suo Lun.
Ashi Liren did not stop her son and instead looked toward Suo Lun.
Suo Lun nodded and said, "I may have a way to cure your mother, but I can’t tell you. Do you understand?"
Ecstatic, Ashi Yuanba exclaimed, "There’s no need to tell me, just inform my mother."
Relieved, as if a great burden had been lifted from his heart, he looked at Suo Lun with tremendous admiration.
"Alright, Yuanba, you can leave for now. I have something to discuss with your teacher," Ashi Liren said.
"Yes, Mother," replied Ashi Yuanba as he got up, ran out, and closed the door behind him.
The classroom was then left with only Suo Lun and Ashi Liren.
...
"Don’t you think an explanation is in order?" Ashi Liren coldly asked.
There were too many things Suo Lun needed to explain, such as why, despite initially being unwilling to become Ashi Yuanba’s teacher, he had come so fully prepared, with the hand cannon alone clearly being the result of extensive work.
Then there was information about the Demon Bloodline, the Dragon civilization, and ancient ruins. As a seemingly frail scholar, he knew far too much.
But most importantly, how did Mr. Yan Ziyu, a complete outsider, know of Ashi Liren’s condition and even have a cure for it?
"Madam, all you need to know is that I harbor no malice towards you or the young master," Suo Lun stated. "When the time comes, I’ll naturally explain the things that need to be explained."
Ashi Liren inquired, "You claim you can cure my body, so may I ask what’s wrong with it?"
"Dragon Yin Absolute Vein," Suo Lun revealed.
At these words, Ashi Liren was astonished, as very few people were aware of this secret.
"There is no cure for the Dragon Yin Absolute Vein; even my master, Jiang Shang, has no solution. Do you?" Ashi Liren challenged.
"Yes!" Suo Lun affirmed.
"What is it?" she inquired.
"Merely the blending of Yin and Yang," Suo Lun explained.
"In this world, there is no such thing as the Supreme Yang Dragon Vein, and even if there is, the individual would have died shortly after birth," she retorted.
"There may be none naturally, but it can be achieved artificially," said Suo Lun.
"How so?" Ashi Liren questioned.
"Through the blood of demons," Suo Lun declared.
Ashi Liren’s gaze turned frosty at those words, thinking of Ashi Luo, but she objected, "Demon Blood is miraculous with its life force overdraft capabilities that can heal wounds and ward off a hundred poisons. However, it’s useless for my Dragon Yin Absolute Vein, which isn’t a wound nor a poison."
"What if it’s Demon Blood that has been boiled with dragon flame?" Suo Lun proposed.
Her eyes quivered at the thought. Dragon Flame was the utmost yang element in the world. If Demon Blood were boiled with Dragon Flame, it would indeed transform into a Supreme Yang Bloodline, which could theoretically blend with Ashi Liren’s Dragon Yin Absolute Vein and cure it completely.
Ashi Liren stared at Suo Lun, saying, "Mr. Yan Ziyu, you truly have a broad understanding of the past and present. Some things that even my teacher doesn’t know, you do."
Suo Lun repeated, "I will explain the secrets when the time is right. I only wish to assure you that I bear no ill will towards you or your son, on the contrary... I hold you in the highest esteem. I am here to help you, and I will do everything in my power to save you."
As Ashi Liren locked eyes with Suo Lun, her enchanting gaze reminiscent of the ocean depths, it almost overwhelmed him.
Sensing Suo Lun’s wavering spirit, Ashi Liren asked, "You wish to save me? I must ask, sir, what price must I pay?"
