Chapter 398: 212: Suo Long Illegitimate Son!_2
Look at Tuli Yang," though he’s both ugly and short, he’s willing to face even death for Turing Duo.
Gui Qinshao’s heart grew more pained the more she thought about it, and the angrier she became, feeling as if she had a blazing inferno within her, yet unable to find an outlet for it.
Thus, she lay in her silk pajamas on the bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, feeling as though her body was covered in fur.
Just before dawn, her father Gui Xingfu cautiously passed by her room, tapping gently on the door and said tenderly, "Little girl, are you asleep?"
"Go away." Gui Qinshao responded without any courtesy.
Gui Xingfu knew his daughter all too well; her anger came quickly but left even faster. When she felt humiliated, it was best not to provoke her, just let time pass, and she would soon deceive herself and find an excuse to justify her own actions.
"You exhausted yourself last night. Have a good sleep; I won’t let them call you to get up. Sleep as long as you want," Gui Xingfu said, then left.
After leaving Gui Qinshao’s courtyard, Gui Xingfu encountered Ling Ao standing outside, hesitating.
"Father-in-law," Ling Ao bowed respectfully.
"Why not go in?" Gui Xingfu asked.
Ling Ao replied, "As you know, Qinshu is a person who doesn’t respond well to soft approaches."
He had deliberately acted cold and arrogant before to win Gui Qinshao’s favor. But today, he truly didn’t feel as assertive because he hadn’t stepped forward when Gui Qinshao needed him, and showing weakness now would only lower her opinion of him.
Gui Qinshao was extremely vain, only liking strong men. She would admire men but had no interest in any that seemed weak.
Gui Xingfu was about to speak, then hesitated, saying, "Xia Ao, how long have you and Qinshu been together?"
The two had been childhood friends for more than a decade.
Gui Xingfu said, "Between men and women, different stages call for different actions, so you must never disrupt the rhythm."
His words were quite cryptic, and Ling Ao, being young, couldn’t quite understand them.
Gui Xingfu pointed to a ditch in the corner of the yard and kicked a clump of mud into it, blocking the flow of water, causing the ditch to stop flowing.
Then he said, "Ling Ao, the relationship between you and Qinshu is like the water in this ditch, blocked by this clump of mud. What do you think should be done?"
Ling Ao replied, "Clear away the mud."
"Correct," Gui Xingfu said. "Then go and clear away the mud."
Ling Ao suddenly exclaimed in surprise, "You mean..."
Gui Xingfu said, "What I mean is, do what you’re supposed to do. Now that you’re engaged, take her, to avoid any further complications."
He was truly speechless that he, as a father-in-law, had to spell things out so clearly.
After finishing, Gui Xingfu turned and walked away. It was excessively awkward for him to have this conversation with his son-in-law, but he understood his daughter too well. After tonight’s incident, she was already somewhat dissatisfied with Ling Ao, thinking Suo Lun was stronger—otherwise, why would Zhen Yan Princess fancy him?
And to make matters worse, she had a complicated past with Suo Lun.
Suo Lun, that shameless bastard, always acted swiftly, preferring charm over words, and certainly over swords.
If Ling Ao didn’t win Qinshao’s heart soon, he worried his daughter might one day come to him announcing she was carrying Suo Lun’s bastard child, just like Zhi Ning did.
Although Zhi Ning’s situation was meant to be top-secret, it wasn’t hard for Gui Xingfu, with his cunning, to deduce the truth.
After leaving, Gui Xingfu, still not at ease, emphasized sternly, "Ling Ao, go now, get it done, this is an order."
...
Ling Ao was somewhat displeased; his father-in-law’s worries were utterly superfluous and absurd. With his charm, he could easily make Gui Qinshao fall head over heels for him.
Nevertheless, the time had indeed come to win Qinshao.
He had not shown up when Qinshao was humiliated by Suo Lun yesterday, so he couldn’t let her calm down now, no matter what.
Thus, conquering her was the only way.
The moment this thought arose, Ling Ao couldn’t help but feel a surge of heat in his heart.
He had longed for Gui Qinshao for so long, but he needed to maintain his cold, aloof demeanor; he couldn’t appear as desperate as the other men.
Taking a deep breath to steady his quickening heartbeat,
Ling Ao approached Gui Qinshao’s door and was about to push it open.
"Who’s that?" came the cold voice of Gui Qinshao from inside.
"It’s me," Ling Ao said, trying to sound calm but couldn’t suppress a tremor in his voice.
"Get out!" Qinshao ordered.
Ling Ao pushed the door open and saw Gui Qinshao sprawled on the bed wearing a silk robe.
"I told you to get out, didn’t you hear?" Gui Qinshao still hadn’t turned over and said coldly, "What are you doing here?"
"We’re engaged now," Ling Ao said as he walked in, beginning to undo his clothes. "You’re mine now, so what do you think I’m here for?"
As these words were spoken, to Qinshao it felt as if she’d been stung suddenly. She leapt up from the bed, eyes wide as she looked at Ling Ao in disbelief, "What... what did you just say?"
Ling Ao enunciated each word, "From last night, you’ve been mine, so I want you."
Instantly, a chill ran down Gui Qinshao’s spine, and an indescribable sensation surged within her.
"You... you wouldn’t dare?" Gui Qinshao’s voice trembled, then instinctively, she shrank back into the corner of the bed.
"You think I wouldn’t?" Ling Ao pressed on.
"No, no, we have to wait until the wedding ceremony..." Gui Qinshao said in a panic, truly frightened by Ling Ao’s assertiveness.
