After hearing Suo Lun’s words, Turing Duo was utterly shocked, and then she couldn’t help but look down.
The vivid bloodstains on her thigh were undeniable, as was the burning pain that emanated from deep within her body, and even the exhaustion and soreness that came after the extreme release were real.
But what did Suo Lun mean by that?
Did it still matter whether he had violated her?
"Please... get out," Turing Duo said coldly.
...
Half an hour later, a pale-faced Turing Duo, dressed in a noblewoman’s dress, arrived at the City Lord’s mansion.
The one who came to take her back was none other than Turing Chen.
He really had changed from before, becoming stern and indifferent, dressed in a gorgeous brocade robe with his hair meticulously combed and adorned with a gold and jade crown—now he wore the very outfit he had always despised and hated.
"This is thirty thousand Gold Coins," Turing Chen said. "It is the ransom for my sister."
Then, he placed a thick stack of gold bills on the table, not even wanting to have any hand-to-hand interaction with Suo Lun.
"I appreciate it," Suo Lun said as he accepted the stack of gold bills.
"Goodbye," Turing Chen said.
After that, he left the City Lord’s mansion with Turing Duo.
The Turing Clan had dispatched a cavalry of over a hundred men to escort Turing Duo back.
Turing Duo and Turing Chen rode in a low-key carriage out of Heavenly Water Main City.
"Did Suo Lun rape you?" Turing Chen bluntly asked.
Turing Duo remained silent for a moment before shaking her head, it was unclear if she meant no, or if she didn’t know.
"Brother, have you turned over a new leaf, ready to take on the family responsibilities?" Turing Duo asked.
"You have lost, so naturally, the responsibility falls on me," Turing Chen said. "Our family and Suo Lun are now at a point of irreconcilable conflict, and it’s up to me to deal with that scoundrel Suo Lun."
Turing Chen spoke calmly, but when he mentioned the name Suo Lun, he couldn’t hide his grimace, his eyes filled with resentment and murderous intent.
This man had given him an unprecedented disgrace.
"And what about me? Is the family giving up on me just like that?" Turing Duo asked sarcastically.
"Of course not," Turing Chen said. "It’s just that you are no longer capable of handling the task of killing Suo Lun; you have another mission."
"What mission?" Turing Duo asked.
"A marriage arrangement," Turing Chen said.
Immediately, Turing Duo’s eyes filled with immeasurable sorrow; she had done everything in her power to avoid becoming a marriage pawn for the family. She wanted to be different from the other women in the Turing family, to become an indispensable part of it.
But now, she couldn’t escape that Destiny.
"Just because I lost to Suo Lun, I am to be utterly negated?" Turing Duo said, her voice filled with sadness and anger.
Turing Chen said, "You were once closest to ending Suo Lun’s life, yet you let him go. Even though you’re unwilling to admit it, you did spare him. At that time, you could have let his corpse rot."
Turing Duo said, "I only wanted to torture him thoroughly before killing him; I didn’t want him to die so comfortably."
"Is that so?" Turing Chen said. "Since you tortured him for days and nights, why is his body still unharmed? Did you gouge out his eyes? Cut off his tongue? Or castrate that filthy thing that once violated you? Nothing at all."
Then, Turing Chen continued coldly, "It seems you find it hard to get over the incident from when you were eight years old. That beast learned to meddle with women at the age of eight."
At these words, Turing Duo’s face paled, and she exclaimed, "Who? Who told you about this?"
This childhood memory was a pain Turing Duo would never forget, but she had told no one. Therefore, after turning eight, she always bathed herself, not allowing anyone to assist her. Yet, her brother Turing Chen had unexpectedly exposed it, leaving her furious and upset.
"Was it Suo Lun who told you? That beast," Turing Duo said with a hoarse voice.
Turing Chen shook his head.
"Gui Qinshu?" Turing Duo asked, trembling. "How could she? She swore a poisonous oath to me."
But soon, she gave up on directing any more anger at Gui Qinshu, as it was entirely meaningless.
"Is the fiancé arranged by the family coming into our house, or am I marrying out?" Turing Duo asked.
If it was a matter of in-law adoption, it would mean she still held a place within the family. But if she was marrying out, it would mean she had fallen to the status of a marriage tool for the family.
"Marrying out," Turing Chen said.
Instantly, Turing Duo’s complexion changed, and her beautiful eyes revealed complete sorrow.
"Who is the man?" Turing Duo asked.
"You will know once we get home," Turing Chen said simply.
...
For Tianshui City’s Main City Lord’s mansion, today was destined to be a bustling day.
No sooner had Turing Chen left than Suo Lun welcomed another influential guest, Neishi Yanting Yi of Linhai City, who had another identity as the nephew of Prime Minister Yan Wujie.
"Here are thirty thousand Gold Coins. I have come to redeem Young Master Gui Qinqu and the three thousand Linhai Army captives," Yan Ting Yi said.
Suo Lun couldn’t help being astonished. Lord Gui was handing over the money so readily? Suo Lun had thought he would stall for more time.
Was there some hidden agenda behind this prompt payment?
Suo Lun sensed a dangerous aura.
"Is this money coming from the City Lord himself, or His Highness Zhi Li?" Suo Lun asked.
