Chapter 1158: 519: Ghost Domain Trial!_2
"The so-called Ghost Domain, the so-called Death Forbidden Zone, is merely the work of a Demonic God Ruins," Sisi said. "I’ve already studied it. The area of this Ghost Domain has been shrinking every year, which means the energy of the Demonic God Ruins has been weakening annually. A few hundred years ago, the Ghost Domain was at least twice the size it is now."
"And all of this is just speculation?" Lanling asked.
Sisi nodded. "Yep, just speculation. But I’m quite confident."
"Then why haven’t you gone to search for this Demonic God Ruins?" Lanling asked.
Sisi replied, "Why would I? My weapons are my beauty and my body, not my martial arts."
That argument was so convincing that Lanling had no response.
"Over the years, have hundreds or even thousands of people gone into the Ghost Domain without a single one coming out alive?" Lanling asked.
"Yes," Sisi said. "Not just hundreds or thousands. Many exiles, having no way out, have chosen to enter the Ghost Domain. Yet, not a single one has come out alive."
"So you’re saying there may not even be a Demonic God Ruins inside, and going in practically guarantees a ninety-nine percent chance of death?" Lanling asked.
"Exactly, it’s nearly certain death," Sisi said. "But, I’ve got faith in you."
"You’re basically asking me to go die," Lanling said.
"But I can already see your restless heart. There’s madness in your blood. The closer to death, the more exhilarated and thrilled you get, right?" Sisi teased.
"Yes," Lanling replied.
"Then, will you go to the Ghost Domain?" Sisi asked.
"Of course," Lanling said.
...
"The Ghost Domain?" Suo Mo frowned deeply.
He didn’t say anything like "Are you crazy?" or "You can’t go."
After a long pause, he said bluntly, "I’ll go with you."
Lanling shook his head. "No, Uncle! The next month is the most critical time. Our Foreign Tribe Army must stay ready at all times to rebel and establish independence. You absolutely cannot leave."
"But the Ghost Domain is a death sentence, ten out of ten," Suo Mo said.
Lanling replied, "In the Ghost Domain, time flows a hundred times faster. Four days there equal a full year here. I think this is a kind of Spiritual Illusion, and I possess unparalleled spiritual talent and spiritual power. If there’s anyone in this world who could walk out alive, it’s me!"
Suo Mo fell silent.
Lanling continued, "Besides, my life is borrowed. I already died once—there’s nothing left for me to lose. If I don’t go, the duel with Du Yan in a month is a dead end. If I go to the Ghost Domain, at least there’s a one percent chance of survival. If I don’t make it out, just think of me as enjoying myself in another world, as if I never existed in yours."
Suo Mo stared at Lanling for a while before nodding. "Alright, I got it. You can go!"
A true hero, never indecisive or nagging.
"Don’t tell Dina," Lanling said.
"Understood," Suo Mo replied. "I won’t let her know."
...
Late at night, in the Chieftain’s castle, inside Nini’an’s room, Lanling snuck in secretly.
"I’m going to the Ghost Domain to train," Lanling said. "One day outside equals a hundred days inside. In a month, even if I train myself to death, I could never defeat Du Yan. But if time slows down by a hundredfold, with ten years, my skills might reach Du Yan’s level."
"You’re insane..." Nini’an said. "Everyone who enters the Ghost Domain dies without exception. If it’s as you say, someone should’ve made it out. Over the centuries, it’s not just thousands but tens of thousands who have entered. Not a single one came out. Over millennia, the corpses of those who entered could already cover the entire Ghost Domain. No one’s ever made it back. Do you even know what the Ghost Domain is?"
"What?" Lanling asked.
"The Ghost Domain is the maw of the devil, the gateway to hell, the trap laid by Death itself. It lures madmen with its breathtaking beauty, then devours their lives and souls," Nini’an said.
Lanling shrugged. "Then one more idiot won’t make a difference."
Nini’an stared at Lanling, stunned for a long time. "I forgot you’re a lunatic. The more reckless the endeavor, the more it excites you."
"You all want me dead anyway, right? At least let me choose how to die. I think dying in the Ghost Domain sounds far more thrilling than perishing under Du Yan’s sword," Lanling said.
"You maniac," Nini’an growled through clenched teeth.
Lanling gazed at her. "That snakeskin bodysuit of yours—looks amazing."
His eyes were filled with aggression. Nini’an warned, "What are you thinking? This is the Chieftain’s castle. Don’t press your luck!"
Lanling chuckled darkly. "Luck-seeking is my favorite."
Then, he lunged at Nini’an, pinning her to the ground and grabbing her tail, tearing off her snakeskin pants.
Nini’an’s combat skills surpassed his, but instinctively, she only struggled and cursed.
...
"You lunatic. My father heard that—he’ll kill you," Nini’an said, trembling.
"Let him come," Lanling said.
Staring at Lanling’s devilishly handsome features, Nini’an asked, "Does your wife love you?"
"I don’t know. Probably not," Lanling replied.
"I don’t believe it. No woman in this world could be taken by you and not fall for you," Nini’an said.
"The woman in the painting has no emotions, no love," Lanling said.
"Do you remember what I said before? That you resemble the legendary Bloodsucking Royal Family? And you promised—you promised that if you were, I’d be the first you’d kiss and bite," Nini’an said.
"I can bite you right now," Lanling said.
Then, he opened his mouth and bit down hard on her snowy neck.
"Ah..." Nini’an cried out in pain as blood oozed from her neck where Lanling bit her.
The two lay there silently for a long while.
"Go. Go to the Ghost Domain and die," Nini’an said.
Lanling stood, dressed, and left.
...
The next day, Lanling set off for the Ghost Domain, with Suo Mo seeing him off. Nini’an and Konstantin also came.
Of course, Konstantin was not there to bid farewell but to ensure Lanling wasn’t escaping or defecting to another tribe.
After traveling for a day and a night, the four reached the Ghost Domain, 270 miles from the Chimera Tribe.
Between the Ghost Domain and the outside world was a thin, transparent barrier of air, separating two entirely different worlds.
Outside was springtime, with flowers in full bloom.
Inside the Ghost Domain, it was a desolate winter, snow covering the ground, devoid of any signs of life.
Of course, the Ghost Domain never had any signs of life regardless of the season.
Lanling dismounted, hugged his uncle Suo Mo, then waved at Konstantin and Nini’an. "Goodbye—or not!"
With that, he turned and strode into the Ghost Domain with unwavering resolve.
The instant he stepped through the barrier, he seemed to vanish into another world, disappearing completely from the trio’s sight.
Just like that... he was gone!
Nini’an’s beautiful eyes trembled slightly. The spot on her neck where Lanling had bitten her throbbed with a dull pain.
