Chapter 579 - 41: The Current Situation in the Wizard World (Part 2)

Chapter 579: Chapter 41: The Current Situation in the Wizard World (Part 2)

Even the most tense battlefield must allow for a moment’s respite; neither side of the war is robotic, and resting is inevitable.

Inside the fortress, Ali was holding a bottle of unlabeled strong red wine, drinking it intermittently. Beside her, her assistant and close friend was drinking generously from a wine jug.

The amber-colored liquor slid from the corner of her mouth, staining her fur and emitting an enticing aroma.

"Ha! What a thrill!"

Number One put down the wine jug and shouted in a near roar.

Ali was long accustomed to this scene; she didn’t even raise her eyebrows when she roared.

"Captain, you don’t seem particularly enthused."

After Number One emptied her drink, she leaned close to Ali, her face brimming with curiosity.

"Thinking about that man who disappeared again?"

Ali waved her hand with a tinge of intoxication in her tone.

"Me, right now, the only person I can think about is him. My teacher is dead, my grandmaster is dead, all my fellow apprentices are dead.

He’s the only family I have left."

Ali’s voice was ordinary, but the meaning was stained with deep sadness.

The war has been raging for over six hundred years, countless wizards buried in the Otherworld, numerous legacies extinguished.

If the war continues, its impact on Wizard Civilization will far exceed that of the previous Wizard Wars.

"Tell me about him then," Number One said, "a person who can win over Captain like you must be extraordinary, right? Is he strong? Is he tall?"

Ali glanced at her, her tone filled with pride.

"He’s a wizard, and for wizards, physical strength is meaningless. But if you’re talking about physique, even you wild beastmen can’t compare to him. He was favored by the Crown Throne of Physique. If he hadn’t disappeared, he’d surely be one of the pioneers of the Physique School now."

The Physique School, the sixth major school in the Wizard World. This school was founded by the former Great Wizard Jialong, now the Crown Throne of Physique, primarily studying the mysteries of flesh.

Upon its inception, this school attracted a large number of wizards to join. Most were good relations formed by the Crown Throne during his time as a Great Wizard, but quite a few were from the Flesh Faction within the Alchemy School.

Due to the emergence of small floating cities, the conflict between the two branches of the Alchemy School became increasingly intense, leaving the Flesh Faction unable to lift their heads in the Mechanical Faction’s presence.

The birth of the Physique School happened to provide these wizards with a home.

The Alchemy School doesn’t welcome flesh; the Physique School couldn’t also reject it, right?

After absorbing the flesh branch of the Alchemy School, the Physique School rapidly expanded to a degree worthy of being called a school.

Of course, anyone with good sight can see that this is the result of the Alchemy Crown’s tacit approval. Otherwise, no matter how suppressed the Flesh Faction was, it couldn’t have led to the entire branch joining the Physique School.

"That remarkable?" Number One exclaimed in surprise, "Then how did he go missing?"

"Why do you wander?" Ali countered.

"Wander... he was part of the vanguard back then!" Number One exclaimed again.

In the current history of the wild beastmen, wizards are not conquerors but saviors, invited by the Martial Ancestor to help the wild beastmen as a saint race.

Of course, there’s more "real" information within the wild beastmen, like the fact that although wizards were invited by the Martial Ancestor, they didn’t come without demands—the current tributary races were part of the conditions back then.

However, real information aside, to the new generation of wild beastmen, wizards are their saviors, and those first arrivals in the Wilderness Great World became the great vanguard.

"Yes, he was in the vanguard," Ali lied with a straight face.

Though most of the wizards who participated in the invasion of the Wilderness Great World have died, Ali is among the few still living participants.

In Ali’s specimen room, there’s still a third-level wild beastman corpse specimen displayed.

But those days are past.

Now wizards and wild beastmen are close allies.

"He really is unfortunate." Number One’s voice lowered slightly, with a strong tone of regret.

"Unfortunate why?" Ali glanced at him, "He’s just missing, not dead. He’s quite lucky, skipping past this war altogether. If we lose, he might even be the last ember of Wizard Civilization."

Speaking, Ali drank the last sip of red wine in the bottle, casually smashing the bottle against the wall.

"This bastard, living carefree now. No war to bind him, he can study whatever he likes, play with whatever he wants..."

Ali’s voice kept lowering, until it was almost inaudible by the end.

"...Traveler, oh traveler, please don’t return too soon. You’re the only one I have left..."

Number One lifted Ali from the chair, turning to head down the stairs to the quiet room underground.

The battle just now had nearly exhausted Ali’s spiritual power. With the liquor’s effect, Ali fell asleep.

Three hours later, the fortress’s piercing alarm woke Ali from her sleep. It was the best sleep she had gotten since the war began.

In her dream, she returned to the Black Tower Wizard Academy, where Richard, Susanna, and everyone she knew were.

Ali rubbed her face and wiped away the tear stains from her eyes.

"Ali, oh Ali, you’re not a child anymore. An old wizard must take up the responsibilities of an old wizard."

...

The Wizard Dimension is a magical place. The native creatures here are mostly humanoid beings wearing various wizard robes, with faces obscured.

They spend their days in laboratories, conducting all kinds of crazy experiments.

The sounds of explosions and screams have almost become the background music of this world.

Richard observed a Wizard Dimension creature closely for a long time and found that all the experiments conducted by this wizard were extremely dangerous or extremely cruel.

The madness hidden in the hearts of wizards is vividly displayed by this Wizard Dimension creature. Yet, this Wizard Dimension creature is not sheer madness. Before conducting experiments, he meticulously prepares protective measures for himself and designs detailed experimental steps to ensure the dangerous experiment can proceed smoothly.

Those experiments which cannot be controlled at the current stage are stopped directly.

Mad yet rational, greedy yet restrained.

After completing the experiment, these Wizard Dimension creatures record the results in a magic book. This magic book is then hidden in the most securely protected place of the Wizard Tower.

The protection of knowledge by wizards is vividly demonstrated in them.

Richard silently entered a Wizard Tower and leafed through that magic book.

To Richard’s surprise, all the research findings in this magic book were real and credible. They could be replicated even in the Material World.

"Goodness, is this even possible?" Richard exclaimed while looking at the magic book, "If all magic books are like this, wouldn’t these Wizard Dimension creatures be self-operating research machines?"

At this moment, Richard’s mind already conjured up various methods of utilizing wizard dimension creatures, including but not limited to regularly ’harvesting’ these Wizard Dimension creatures like crops, or gathering these Wizard Dimension creatures to conduct uninterrupted research on some extremely complex and dangerous studies.

After all, this world is an Illusion World, and all rules must give way to Wizard Rules.

Richard can completely use the Power of Dimension to establish an almost perfect research institute in this world.

Just as Richard was indulging in his imagination, a voice suddenly sounded behind him.

"Nameless Great Wizard, put the magic book back in your hand!"

Richard turned around and saw a familiar figure standing behind him.

"You—you—you..." Richard was shocked in his heart, and his body involuntarily took two steps back. The person standing behind him was none other than the Wizard Dimension creature who shattered the King of Mayfly in the Galaxy World.

"Nameless Great Wizard, put the magic book back in your hand!"

The voice of this Dimensional Creature carried volcanic fury. The magic book in his hand was now closed, and Richard believed, if he refused, this iron-bound octagonal magic book would certainly strike him on the head.

"No problem, I’ll put it back right away." Richard replied without hesitation.

After returning the magic book, the attitude of that Dimensional Creature changed instantly.

"Nameless Great Wizard, may I know your name? I am the caretaker of the Wizard Dimension, and you may call me the Secret Keeper. Of course," the Secret Keeper smiled slightly, "You can also call me the Bellringer, or any other name, I have never minded such things."

The change in the Secret Keeper’s attitude made Richard have some vague guesses in his heart.

The angry attitude of the Secret Keeper just now must be an expression of a wizard’s fury over knowledge theft.

"It seems the research institute is doomed to fail," Richard thought with some disappointment.

"I am Richard."

Richard said his name. Upon hearing this name, the Secret Keeper was taken aback for a moment, then immediately started searching through his magic book.

"Richard... Richard... Found it, oh, turns out the creator of a small Floating City. Your projection in the Wizard Dimension is a bit blurry; I thought you were dead.

Congratulations Lord Richard on becoming a Great Wizard. This must be your first time in the Wizard Dimension. May I know the purpose of your visit this time?"

"I have been cast into the Otherworld, and I am currently looking for a way home."

"So you’ve ascended to Great Wizard from the Otherworld on your own, is another path about to be born?" the Secret Keeper exclaimed, then searched through the book in his hand and provided Richard with an answer.

"If you wish to return, you just need a Great Wizard in the Wizard World to open a door for you. Do you have any familiar wizards?"

"Great Wizard Jialong...now he should be the Physique Crown."

"Indeed. Do you wish to summon the Physique Crown? He is quite a notable figure."

"Go ahead and summon him, I’m his Deputy Dean to some extent."

"As you wish."

The Secret Keeper took a small brass bell from a pocket at his waist and gently struck it. The next moment, the bell’s sound echoed in the ears of the Physique Crown.

"Respected Physique Crown, your Deputy Dean Richard has ascended to Great Wizard in the Exotic Realm. He requests that you open a gate to the Wizard World, allowing this wanderer to return home."

Hearing this familiar name, the Physique Crown was taken aback for a moment, then smiled.

As he laughed, a King of Mayfly bound in the air trembled with fear.

This was a laboratory filled with many specimens of Mayfly Subspecies. As the war commenced, both sides conducted research on each other.

"I knew that kid was fine. Jimmy, I’m going to the Wizard Dimension, the experiment should be paused for now."

"Yes, Dean."
