Witty Wife, Better Life
Chapter 755 - 745

Chapter 755: 745

Shen Yunfang hung up the phone and returned to the dining table with a much improved expression on her face.

"Sister-in-law, you can actually speak a foreign language." Sun Chengbin found this hard to accept.

He was surrounded by comrades of humble origins, all with similar levels of education, barely able to distinguish between the letters A, B, C, and D, and now suddenly discovering that someone close to him could speak English—and speak it so well that they could converse with foreigners—how could he not be surprised?

Besides, although he knew that his sister-in-law was a college graduate, he also knew that her family came from the countryside, so subconsciously, he placed her on the same level as his own wife. Now, seeing her effortlessly speak English and expound on profound principles, he truly couldn’t accept it.

"Yes, I know a bit," said Shen Yunfang without seizing the opportunity to boast. It was just a tool, and she was simply better at it than others.

"Hmph, listen to her, acting all high and mighty just because she’s a college student," Li Xianghe commented sarcastically. She couldn’t stand seeing her sister-in-law stand out and couldn’t help but want to take a few jabs at her.

"Yes, I am a college graduate, just a bit more knowledgeable than you. It’s a matter of personal quality, and there’s nothing to be done about it," said Shen Yunfang, her tone light and breezy.

Li Xianghe knew she was being slighted and glared at her with big eyes, looking as though she wanted to devour her.

Was Shen Yunfang afraid of her? Not only was she stronger in terms of fighting ability by who knows how much, but this was her own home, with her own man sitting right beside her. If Li Xianghe dared to raise a hand against her, she wouldn’t even need to respond herself—someone would surely take care of her.

"Xianghe, what are you doing? If you’re full, hurry up and take the kids downstairs," Sun Chengbin called out, his face darkening. His wife was truly foolish; why couldn’t she read the room? She was nothing, yet she insisted on acting like a rooster, crowing at everyone. Was there any point in that?

"You, how can you be like this? Didn’t you hear her insulting me?" Li Xianghe felt utterly wronged. She had just arrived and been slighted; if she didn’t regain some face, how could she ever stand before this woman again?

"Enough, I see you’ve pretty much finished eating. Go back and rest in your own home," Li Hongjun said, ushering them out indifferently.

Sun Chengbin felt awkward, but at least he understood what was being said. His wife had offended someone, and even his second uncle was not letting it pass, directly sending them away. What did this indicate? Sister or not, it all paled in importance compared to one’s wife. Bringing this woman here was just a drag.

"Heh, second brother, I’ve also pretty much finished eating, so we’ll head back first. Xianghe just arrived last night and didn’t rest well," he said, forcing a smile. "Sister-in-law, don’t stoop to her level. She’s uneducated and speaks without tact."

After a few words, he turned to look at Li Xianghe, his eyes flashing fiercely, but fearful that Li Hongjun would notice. His voice, however, remained unchanged, "Hold the child, let’s go home."

The trio hurriedly left.

"You two hurry up and finish eating, then go do your homework. There’s no show for you to watch here," said Shen Yunfang as she stood up, refilling Li Hongjun’s bowl with rice, though her words targeted the two little ones lingering in hopes of seeing more drama.

"Go do your homework," Li Hongjun said, and the two children quickly scampered off.

"Hmph, I’m just too nice to them," Shen Yunfang mumbled, feeling a little upset. As a mother, she was quite strict usually. Yet, why was it that at critical moments, she still wasn’t as effective as Li Hongjun?

"Here, you barely ate anything just now. Now that everyone has left, eat a bit more," Shen Yunfang said as she cleared up the plates on the dining table, taking away the nearly empty dishes of vegetable soup, and then brought out a few ready-made dishes from the space, joining Li Hongjun for a meal.

Li Xianghe hadn’t been shy at all just now, she kept her chopsticks fixed on the braised pork and she managed to eat two-thirds of the whole plate by herself.

"You should eat more too, I saw you didn’t eat much either," Li Hongjun considerately picked some vegetables with his chopsticks for his wife. With Sun Chengbin constantly talking and Li Xianghe incessantly eating, the couple indeed had lost their appetite and hadn’t eaten much.

While eating, Shen Yunfang recounted her conversation with the engineer John to Li Hongjun, treating it as a joke.

It was indeed quite funny because through an oversight, there was no toilet paper in the suite’s bathroom. When John needed to use the bathroom, he discovered the problem. Although he could find someone to help, when he tried to explain what he needed, Zhang Chunwang was completely clueless like a duck hearing thunder—causing quite a laughable situation.

Thankfully, there was a phone in the office, otherwise, John would have had a hard time resolving the situation.

After chuckling for a while, Shen Yunfang’s thoughts returned to the bothersome Li Xianghe. Living so close now, if she came by to annoy her from time to time, it would be enough to bear, not to mention the negative impact on their family’s quality of life.

Regarding this matter, Li Hongjun also felt helpless—he couldn’t exactly order Sun Chengbin to send Li Xianghe back to her hometown because of this.

"How is the vegetable matter coming along, do you need my help?" Li Hongjun changed the topic.

"Not for now, the vegetable issue is basically resolved. The sales department has started to reconfirm the orders. Currently, there are over ten orally confirmed orders for vegetables, but no contracts have been signed, so we can’t rely on that. Moreover, Zhang Chunwang has contacted a few vegetable wholesalers, and several contracts have been signed today," she replied.

This afternoon, Shen Yunfang was supposed to take Zhang Chunwang to pick up the machinery, but they were interrupted by someone coming to notify that two vegetable wholesalers had arrived so Zhang Chunwang had to go and receive them.

Since there were no more freshly picked vegetables available, even though they had signed supply contracts, the wholesalers agreed to pick up the produce the following morning. The wholesalers had given a 30 percent down payment, and once all the vegetables were checked and loaded onto trucks tomorrow morning, the remaining 70 percent would be transferred into their account.

"Hmm, good that it’s resolved," Li Hongjun said, putting down his rice bowl—he had eaten his fill this time, "But after what happened, we must thoroughly investigate and clarify whose responsibility it was and hold them accountable. There need to be enough attention and a sufficient degree of punishment to serve as a lesson."

"Ah, we’re thinking along the same lines," and so Shen Yunfang shared her own thoughts on the punishment methods.

Workers come for the money, so if you want them to remember the lesson, then it has to affect their wallet.

"Ah, right, there is something I do need your help with," Shen Yunfang suddenly remembered something.

"What is it?"

"Now that the machinery has arrived and will be installed in the next few days, I plan to start production, but the workers hired for the processing plant are all general laborers. I want to find someone capable of management to join us. See if any of your comrades-in-arms fit the bill, or even if you just know someone, I can offer a high salary to hire them," Shen Yunfang wanted to find a professional manager. She had not identified anyone with managerial talent among her current workers, so she had to hire someone from outside.

"Okay, I’ll ask around for you."
