Upon hearing that Shen Yunfang was planning to sue her in return, Shen Yunxiu started shouting and cursing in the police station, causing the officers to frown at her outburst.

Uncle Shen’s face darkened as he approached Shen Yunxiu and slapped her hard across the face, "Shut your mouth."

The sound of the slap made everyone shiver, and Uncle Shen clenched his hand; he had rarely ever laid a hand on his children as they grew up, but this time he truly had no other choice.

"What are you doing? What are you doing? If there’s a problem, talk it out. Why are you hitting the child?" Aunt Shen hurried to her daughter’s side and started crying along with her.

"Mom, Shen Yunfang let her dog bite me, and now even Dad is hitting me. I don’t want to live anymore." Initially stunned by Uncle Shen’s slap, Shen Yunxiu regained some spirit when her mother protected her and began to cry, "wailing."

"Fine, go die now and spare me the shame of being associated with you." Uncle Shen spoke harshly.

Uncle Shen’s family anxiously waited in the room. The officer who had left took his time drinking a cup of tea in the office before finally asking Shen Yunfang.

After pondering for a moment, Shen Yunfang agreed to meet them.

Entrusting the child again to Mu Huazhen, she followed the officer to the interrogation room where Uncle Shen and his family were waiting.

"Hmph, you certainly need to do some proper disciplining. Your daughter is already married with children, and you still call her a child? When will she ever be considered an adult then? There are laws for the country and rules for the family. If every citizen in our country was like you, what would become of our nation?" The officer rebuked Uncle Shen without any courtesy, making him feel utterly humiliated.

Shen Yunfang watched from the side and felt quite saddened. Uncle Shen was getting on in years, and yet he still had to suffer such insults because of his child. But truly, there needed to be someone to educate Uncle Shen properly. It’s natural for a parent to love their child, but loving them should still come with principles; you can’t just cover up everything, whether they do something good or bad. That’s not love, that’s harming the child. Besides, seeing Uncle Shen worry over and over again about Shen Yunxiu’s affairs was something she couldn’t bear to watch. With Shen Yunxiu acting this way, these kinds of issues were bound to recur. So this time, she would play the villain and let Uncle Shen completely let go.

Uncle Shen’s face burned with embarrassment as he was reprimanded like a child for the first time at his old age. But what could he do? For the sake of his daughter, he had to endure, even if it meant losing face.

"Yes, yes, you’re right, I will definitely teach her a lesson when we get home."

"Hmph, it’s not for you to decide," the police officer piped up, pointing out the harsh reality of the situation.

Seeing that Shen Yunxiu had quieted down, the officer stepped back to let Shen Yunfang speak with the Shen family members. He didn’t leave, though, standing by the door, as if to protect Shen Yunfang.

"Yunfang, Uncle is sorry," were the first words Uncle Shen said upon seeing Shen Yunfang.

Shen Yunfang pressed her lips together, pulled the uncle to sit down, and then began, "Uncle, don’t say that."

"Uncle owes you an apology. Coming to the Capital, I caused you so much trouble; I truly am at fault, Uncle wasn’t thinking clearly."

"Uncle, I was also at fault for what happened yesterday, but I have said it before, I can’t get along with Shen Yunxiu. Whether she stays in my home or in the courtyard house, the outcome would be the same. We were bound to clash." This outcome was predictable. "Since we knew there wouldn’t be a good ending, why force ourselves to live together? There are so many houses in the Capital, I don’t believe there are none available to rent other than mine, unless she doesn’t want to pay rent and plans to live in my house for free."

Uncle Shen fell silent. He hadn’t considered this yesterday when his daughter had coaxed him but after returning to the hostel from Yunfang’s house and calming down, he understood his daughter’s intentions.

"Uncle, everyone has to live their own life, not depend on others’ charity. Even if I have a dollar or eighty cents, why should I pay for Shen Yunxiu? Has she ever helped me in the past or present, or has she ever helped me at all? No, from the time I could remember, she either mocked me or made trouble for no reason. Uncle Shen was speechless in response to each of Shen Yunfang’s questions. He couldn’t bring himself to say that they were blood sisters and that even when bones break, the sinews still connect them.

"Yunfang, you’re the bigger person, so let bygones be bygones, don’t stoop to your cousin’s level," Aunt Shen interjected softly, her hand still covering Shen Yunxiu’s mouth, fearing she’d speak and cause more trouble.

"Aunt, I have let bygones be bygones. I’m not stooping to her level anymore, or do you think she could have brought her child to the city and live her little life here as a city dweller?" Shen Yunfang spoke coldly.

If it weren’t for the bit of familial affection still left in her heart, Li Hongjun would have dealt with Shen Yunxiu a long time ago. Even if Li Hongjun didn’t take action, she wouldn’t let her have it easy.

As Shen Yunfang spoke, Shen Yunxiu struggled to speak, shaking her head, trying to break free from her mother’s strong grip. But Aunt Shen dared not to let go, instead holding her tightly.

Shen Yunfang hummed at Shen Yunxiu, "What, you still have objections? Let me tell you straight, Shen Yunxiu, with your intelligence, if you just stayed quietly by Uncle and Aunt’s side, living out your days would not have been an issue.
