Wife of The Demon Prince
Chapter 38: Taewe dress shop

Chapter 38: Taewe dress shop

Ara was busy calculating the scenarios in her head when a knock came from the door followed by Anne’s voice,

"Are you ready, Sister?" At Anne’s voice Ara quickly roughly shuffled the parchment on her desk, "Yes, I’ll be out in a second."

They had planned to go and get their dresses, which Anne had ordered to be made beforehand. The dresses were supposed to be delivered at the Boxton main mansion before they came to the south, but Anne had suggested they’d go to pick it up since the dress shop was in the south anyway. Currently, all of the dress shops were swamped with orders due to the royal grand ball. Luckily, Anne had already ordered theirs earlier, and were informed they were ready to be picked.

Ara strode out of the mansion to meet Anne outside who looked excited to leave already, "I can’t wait to see our dresses!"

"Alright, let’s leave now then." Ara Stated as she boarded the carriage with her beaming sister.

The Boxton carriage did not arrive at the dress shop until when the sun was already setting in the horizon. Ara stepped out of the carriage followed by Anne. They strode to the entrance of the dress shop, the first thing that welcomed them were the sounds of sewing machines clicking all around the shop. Usually, the work was done on the third floor as to not disturb the customers at the entrance, but the work had spilled out to the first floor due to the massive numbers of orders.

Taewe dress shop was one of the most famous latest fashion dress shops in the southern area, and was where Anne had ordered their dresses.

Lady Millicent, the manager of the Taewe dress shop, saw the customers enter and hurried out to welcome them, "Welcome..." She paused for a moment then continued, "Are you the Boxton’s who sent a letter to order for dresses few days ago in advance?" Inquired the woman.

Anne who was the one to sent the letter was quick to answer with excitement, "Yes, and we’re here to pick up the ordered dresses!"

Lady Millicent was also quick to smile, "Come with me...this way please." The woman had the same smile on her face as she led them to the inner most part where the finished dresses were kept. When the woman pushed the door to the antique dressing room, the Boxton sisters were greeted with two maroon and deep blue gorgeous dresses hanging gracefully on mannequins.

"Oh my goodness!" Anne exclaimed as she entered the room. Emma the maid had given her the idea of the dresses, and even helped her with writing the orders.

The dresses were tailored perfectly, just as she had imagined it to be. The deep blue dress on the left was Anne’s while the elegant maroon dress was Ara’s. As they were custom made, everything from the cloth to the designs was tailored to perfection.

Anne circled around the mannequins to admire the dresses, then remarked with an extremely pleased expression, "Wow! I love them, it was made exactly as it was described in the letter, well done!"

Lady Millicent accepted the praises with her chin up in the air as she said, "That’s what Taewe prides itself in my lady, we never disappoint our customers requests in anyway, which if I may say so myself is why we remain the best, and this is one of the most beautiful dresses ever made in Teawe fashion shop...I hope you like it." Said the woman as she turned her gaze to the quiet Boxton eldest daughter.

Ara smiled as she saw the woman waiting to hear her praises, "Indeed lady Millicent, You tailored it perfectly. It was out of this world, am very impressed with the dresses." Ara praised and saw how the woman beamed,

"Are you wearing the gowns to the royal grand ball?" Inquired lady Millicent with curiosity in her voice.

Ara nodded, "Yes." Then she heard the woman continued to say, "The gowns may be pretty, but am sure people would only notice the beauty of you ladies. Am glad the gowns will be worn by both of you!"

It was the usual sweet talks by the service, but Ara blushed a little at the woman’s compliment, Ara turned her gaze away from the dresses and said,

"We’ll take the dresses with us right away. So Could you please wrap it up?"

"Of course my lady, please take a seat while I call my assistant to wrap it up for you." Stated the woman as she gestured to the sofa.

As soon as lady Millicent stepped out of the room, a young lady brought in some snacks and tea, then placed it on the table. It didn’t take long before the two dresses were carefully wrapped to prevent them from becoming creased, then loaded into the luggage compartment of the carriage by the coachman.

After the little wait, lady Millicent came back in to inform them, "Everything is set!" Both the sisters rose from their seats, "Thank you for your services."

Lady Millicent smiled, "It’s nothing. Please do come back next time, and don’t forget to recommend our shop to your friends."

As lady Millicent saw them off, the carriage headed straight to the Boxton holiday home, Anne beaming the whole way back, she was impressed with how the dresses turned out. Emma really did a good job in writing the designs in detail on the letter. She would make sure to reward the maid once they got back to the main mansion.

By the time the carriage arrived, it was already dark, the voice of the servant piped up from the window, "Welcome back, my lady." Ara gently shook Anne who was already dozing off next to her. Immediately she stepped out, her eyes fell on their father’s carriage parked. When the servant noticed Ara looking at the general’s carriage, she informed,

"The general has arrived, but went out shortly to a meeting on his horse."

Ara nodded, "Oh." She wasn’t surprised because a letter had came in the morning, informing them that the general was on his way to the south, because he had a general’s meeting to attend. It was the same in her previous life, her father had come to the south for some work just like this. Ara reminisced silently as Anne stepped out of the carriage yawning loudly in an unladylike manner.

"Let’s go inside sister, am too tired to stand out here for a second." Anne mumbled.

"Alright."

As the two made their way towards the mansion entrance, they saw a man waiting at the entrance with a wide smile on his face. That was strange! Who was he? He had his black hair combed neatly, and wore something like a butler’s uniform. And his mouth split into a more wider smile as he met their questioning expressions,

"Good evening, my ladies. My name is Jacob, and am the new assigned butler to this mansion, I came here with the general." He informed.

"Huh?" Ara’s mouth dropped open in surprise. They had just gone out for a while and their father had made a change so quick in the mansion? And moreover this new butler wasn’t in her past life.

Anne looked up at the new butler then turned towards Ara who stood frozen, "Sister, what’s wrong? Do you know him?" Anne asked.

"Oh no I don’t. I was just surprised to see a new butler at the mansion." Ara quickly recovered from her suspicious and shocked reaction. The butler noticed her reaction and said with remorse,

"My apologies, my lady."

"It’s alright."

Anne mumbled with slight curiosity, "I wonder why father suddenly brought in a new butler to this mansion, when we won’t be staying here for long."

At Anne’s words, Jacob the butler said, "The general will be staying here for long, because of the urgent meeting of the grand general’s that suddenly came up in the south."

Another change in this life time! Ara thought. Everything was kind of happening differently this time, she heard the man speak again, "The general has left the mansion, I’ve arranged the dinning table, if you may please." He gestured for them to step in.

They had no further questions for the new butler, they strode inside the mansion. After having dinner, Ara went straight to her room to rest, she was about to collaps on the bed, when she heard the muffled sound of footsteps quickly approaching her room. There was a sharp rap on the door, then came the stiff voice of Jacob,

"May I come in, my lady?"

Ara frowned at his words, but still called out, "Yes, you may come in." As soon as Ara’s permission was given, Jacob opened the door and stepped in, he had a troubled expression on his face, as he parted his lips to say,

"You went out to Taewe dress shop to get dresses for the grand ball, right? He asked.

Ara’s brows drew together as she answered, "Yes, it’s loaded in the carriage, what about the dress? Ara asked, she was starting to have a bad feeling with how the butler looked troubled.
