Wife of The Demon Prince -
Chapter 253: She has no experience
Chapter 253: She has no experience
That same day, after returning from their meeting with Thomas, Hamon began to prepare for the meeting. Immediately the sun went down, all his allies outside the palace, who received his messages, began to arrive at the meeting area. Words had began to spread widely of the crown Prince fleeing the kingdom because he didn’t want the throne.
Moreover, Merona had started preparing for the second Prince’s coronation day. She had taken control of all the soldiers in the palace, except for the crown Prince’s soldiers who were still locked up in the building. Hamon couldn’t afford to waste time, thus he planned to attack tonight to take back his position and the throne, before the queen succeeded in placing her perverted son on the throne.
Some of the high ranked soldiers, who were acquaintances with Hamon at the border, also came to the prepared meeting place, including Henry, who had received a letter from his sister about the crown Prince’s plans. Henry had prepared all his father’s troops beforehand, all that was left was the crown Prince’s command now.
The meeting area was a secluded place, and the information of their gathering was kept on tight lockdown to prevent any leaks.
Finally, all the important soldiers Hamon had sent for arrived on time. Hamon walked into the room, followed by Ara, who wore men’s clothing, similar to the ones the crown Prince was currently wearing. Her red hair was tied up tightly, and she had a sword hanging on her waist as well.
Seeing Ara’s appearance, the people in the room stared at her in pure shock and astonishment. The most shocked was Henry, whose jaw dropped in surprise. He had never seen his sister wear something like that before. How could the crown Prince let her step out dressed like a man? But then...Her posture looked straight and powerful, like that of a well trained swordwoman.
The people soon snapped out of their dazed state and bowed, "Hail your highnesses!" The voices of the high ranked soldiers rang together in a quiet, but strong chorus.
Hamon made his way to the front of the room with his usual steady gait, his silver hair tied behind, two swords hung safely around his waist, he stood tall with a determined expression as he glanced around the soldiers.
"I hope you all know the reason we’re gathered here today?"
One of the soldiers standing at the front row spoke, "Yes, and we’re relieved to know that you’re safe, but then the situation at hand...I don’t think we can defeat the army_" the soldier’s words did not last long, he stopped speaking when he saw two men suddenly entering the meeting room.
The soldiers eyes widened at the newcomers arrival, and they began to murmur amongst themselves. The newcomers were none other than, the grand general, Thomas and his son, Alexander. The pair were dressed completely in their military uniform, and anyone could recognize the infamous grand general and his son at a glance, as their presence alone, spoke of power and authority.
"Has the grand general decided to support us with his army?" There was a great range of opinions among the soldiers at the grand general’s appearance at the meeting. Hamon lifted his hand in the air to stop them, and the murmuring immediately died down.
"General Thomas has agreed to lend me some of his soldiers." Hamon declared as the grand general’s presence clearly indicated his support.
At the crown Prince’s words, the faces of the soldiers suddenly turned into a mixture of surprise and glee. Never had the grand general taken part in any of the royal battle, not to mention giving his army. With his support, the chances of their victory was high. Since general Thomas was on their side, they were happy to be part of the battle.
As Hamon spoke to the grand general, Ara walked towards her brother, who she noticed had been staring at her.
"Brother Henry, I am glad you’re here." She beamed.
"What are you wearing?" He asked instead as he looked her up and down with a displeased expression. "Why do you have a sword? You don’t plan on fighting in this battle tonight, Do you?" He questioned sternly.
Ara could tell her brother wasn’t pleased. However, she didn’t know how to answer his questions. Henry didn’t know of her sword skills, as she’d learned it in her past life. How was she going to explain it to him? And if she did not explain, he’d certainly not allow her participate in the battle. It had taken her more than an hour to convince Hamon into allowing her take part in this, now she’d have to convince her brother as well.
"Didn’t you hear what I just asked you, dear sister. Why are you carrying a sword and dressed like this, are you planning on fighting alongside the soldiers tonight?" He questioned with displeasure when Ara didn’t answer.
Ara had no idea how to start with her explanation, but thankfully, her husband soon came to her rescue, "Yes, she will participate in the battle." Hamon walked towards them and put his arm around her shoulders, "You do not need to worry about my wife, because she’s already trained for this."
Henry’s expression hardened. No need to worry? His sister was going to participate in a battle for soldiers and the crown Prince was telling him not to worry?
"Your Highness, with all due respect, I don’t think it’s a good idea to let a woman fight in a battle for soldiers, she has no experience with a sword_"
"Brother, I have more experience than you could imagine. And I can fight in this battle just as much as any other soldiers." She stated firmly. Ara knew their father strongly disapproved of women carrying swords, not to mention fighting alongside men. Richard believed women were only meant to stay at home and manage the household, which was the reason Ara had never had any experience in fighting in her previous life.
"Your Highness, Lord Henry is right, a woman can’t participate in this. Besides she’s the crown Princess, and has no experience in fighting. It would be best to send her back to safety." Said one of the elderly soldiers, and the rest agreed with him.
Hearing the soldiers agreeing on sending her to safety, because she was a woman and doesn’t have experience in things meant for only men, Ara felt her blood boil. The hell!
"Your Highness, I will take you to the Boxton mansion for now until_" Henry’s words caught in his throat as Ara swiftly drew out his sword from the scabbard hanging on his waist. She fleetingly began to swing the sword, the sharp blade cut through air with a forceful swish which all the soldiers recognized was a sharp and precise cut that could send heads rolling. It didn’t end there she drew out her own sword and began to swiftly swing the two swords in the air. She moved gracefully in a way only a person with years of experience could.
The room turned completely silent at Ara’s display of skills, only the sounds of her blades cutting through the air could be heard, but everyone else was too stunned to even blink. Henry’s eyes widened in astonishment, since when did his sister know to wield a sword? She moved too perfectly for a beginner. How was this possible? Their father was strongly against women carrying swords, how did Ara learn this without their knowledge?
With a last flip in the air, Ara landed squarely on the ground.
"I told you, my wife is skilled, she is even stronger than some men here." Hamon said with a straight face, but anyone who heard him didn’t miss the proud tone in his words and eyes.
However, Henry was too stunned to react. The rest of the soldiers looked on in astonishment. Well, what could they possibly expect from the wife of the bloodthirsty demon?
Even Alex couldn’t mask his surprise upon witnessing the crown Princess’ skills. Jaw dropped, he stared at her. That was...amazing! Each time he saw this woman, he still strongly regretted not being the one to marry her before the crown Prince. She couldn’t cease to amaze him all the time.
"Wow, I must say, the crown Prince has really trained his wife. Smart moves." Thomas remarked, "I would be surprised if the bloodthirsty demon didn’t train his wife with how he fought in battles, but I wonder if Richard knows of this..."
Who would have thought the daughter of general Richard, who strongly believed it was a taboo to let women do men’s job or carry swords, would have a daughter who wielded a sword this skillfully. What irony. Thomas mused.
