Chapter 180: Preparing for the kill
Chapter 180: Preparing for the kill
After Hamon left, Ara was kept busy with her preparations for tonight. Hamon had told her he was free this evening, but she knew better than anyone how busy he’d been lately, because of the king’s illness he had taken full responsibility of the kingdom’s affairs. And yet, the people of Findara never appreciated his hard work for the kingdom and only disregarded him more.
However, with his busy schedule these days, it was hard finding a free time, another opportunity to go out with him wouldn’t come by easily, and so she wanted to make sure everything works out tonight.
Currently, Ara had gone out to a famous jewelry store in Findara, escorted by dozens of Hamon’s men, including Oliver who had been following behind her closely the entire time inside the jewelry store, while the rest of the guards stood guard outside the entrance.
Even the store owner had placed a closed board outside to prevent anyone from visiting the store while the crown princess was present. And he was also following behind Ara if she needed any service instead of assigning his assistant.
Ara had requested to see the latest collections of rings section for men. The store owner politely showed her the section, "Your Highness, these are the newest design of rings for men made with the finest diamond gems found in Dumbarton."
Ara glanced around the set of rings with different sizes of eye catching diamonds. Her eyes caught sight of one, she pointed at it, "Can I see that one? The one with an emerald diamond."
The store owner quickly brought it out, she took it and admired it. As she inspected the ring in her hand, as it was a man’s ring, it’s design emphasized simplicity rather than being glamorous. There was no other gem beside the small brilliant emerald diamond in the center, but the ring itself was made of platinum and of exceptional quality.
She wasn’t sure if Hamon would like it though, but she liked it. The price tagged on it was a hand full, but she’d purchase it. "I’m satisfied with this one." She said to the store owner. She wanted to give Hamon something expensive as a gift as when he gifted her all those jewelries and he had even given her his red ring.
Hamon had masculine hands, but his fingers were still long and pretty. She’d like to see a ring on one of those long fingers of his, she wanted to mark him as hers with a ring.
Wedding in their time and age doesn’t involve any ring exchange. However, love marriage couples could give each other a token of their love in private. But since her marriage with Hamon was under contract, she didn’t feel the need to give him anything since they were to only pretend to be in love in public. But it was different now; now she wanted to give him something that would forever keep her in his heart.
Ara smiled at the thought of giving him the ring tonight.
Oliver, who stood quietly beside her noticed her tender smile as she turned the ring in her hand, "I am sure His Highness will like it...do you plan to gift it to him?" He asked curiously.
Ara glanced up at Oliver, she didn’t feel the need to hide it from him, she nodded, "Yes, I plan to surprise him...I know he might ask you about what I bought today and where we went, please keep it to yourself. It’s a surprise, don’t let him know I bought this ring for him."
Even though Oliver knew the crown Prince would surely ask about what she did today, "Ah...I see, I won’t tell him then." He assured her.
She smiled, "Thank you." She thanked Oliver as she handed the ring to the store owner to wrap it up. She purchased it and they soon left the store and headed back to the palace. The sun was already setting by the time they returned.
However, the moment Ara came back to their residence, a maid approached her to ask what to prepare for dinner. "There’s no need for that, His Highness and I will be going out later." She informed the maid without thinking much of it. But the moment Ara walked past, the maid quickly went to an empty room and tied a letter to the message dove feet. She released it through the window and it flew away.

At the Tudor mansion, marquis Favian stood before a huge window as he untied a letter from a dove’s feet and unfolded it to read the content.
[The crown Prince and his wife would be going out tonight.]
Immediately he read it a smile spread on his face, "Good, tonight we shall finish them up." He said to his assistant standing behind him.
The assistant had long been in service of marquis Tudor, but his expression turned grim after hearing those words. This decision could bring ruin to the Tudor household.
"My Lord, you should think properly through this. Are you sure this is what you want to do?"
"Yes, this is what I want, and nothing can stop me from taking both their lives tonight, David." He remarked determinedly. Claire’s charges were too severe, even if she was released afterwards, it would still bring shame to the Tudor household. Moreover, the supporters of the crown Prince were already backing away from the Tudor family.
Favian had worked all his life to reach to where he was now, he’d managed to keep his family name clean and out of any bad scandals. And now that the crown Prince had gone as far as to lock his daughter up in such place, he’d crossed a bridge that could never be uncrossed!
Favian had already sworn his loyalty only to the queen and her son. His position had been neutral before, but now he wanted Cassius to become king more than anything so he could marry his daughter. If he successfully killed the crown Prince and his wife, the Tudor household would ascend from the ashes of shame again, and Claire would be free of any charges and her bad name would be clear when she becomes queen.
David his assistant looked on anxiously, "Sire, You should think of the consequences if you should fail."
"Have I ever failed to kill any of my enemies?"
"No, My Lord..." David was well aware of how Favian delt with his enemies. But this time, it was even double. He had prepared large numbers of trained hired killers, he’d planted them to watch the couple’s moves. They were the best of best, not just that, Favian had even went far as to hire extra assassins with a large sum of gold chest. Dozens of them were only waiting for his orders.
"Not once have I failed, and I won’t this time."
David remained troubled, but he wasn’t in a position to give advice or oppose his master, he just simply bowed, "I will prepare the men, Sire."
