Chapter 123: The wedding (part 2)
The moment Ara walked in, everyone’s eyes widened at the appearance of the beautiful bride. Richard was already waiting for her at the side, he walked towards his daughter and offered her his arms. He was going to hand her over to Hamon, who was already standing at the altar.
Ara carefully took her father’s arms with a slightly trembling hands. And they both started to walk down the red carpeted aisle. There was a slow rhythm in the background, all the guests started to stand on their feet as the bride and her father passed by them.
The hall was filled with innumerable elites with people from all the four kingdoms. The bride’s and the groom family’s were already seated in the front row. While some people watched from outside the huge windows.
Hamon stood on the decorated altar with a proud smile as he watched his bride walking towards him. Hamon looked breathtakingly handsome in his gray fitted suit, it rested perfectly on his solid figure while his long sliver hair was tied behind his head with few strands falling down. His eyes was only on his beautiful bride.
Ara and her father finally arrived at the altar. Hamon was quick to stretch his right hand forward. It was a tradition where the father would have to make an oath while he gave his daughter away to her husband.
Richard offered a slight bow to the crown Prince, he then glanced at Ara before he took her hand carefully and he gave her hand a gentle squeeze before he placed it on Hamon’s extended hand while saying,
"I Richard Boxton hereby handover my daughter to you, you will shoulder her responsibility from now onwards...I hope you treasure her." He said the handing over oath.
After saying that, Richard offered them both a bow, he glanced at his daughter with a small smile and walked back to his seat.
Hamon gently squeezed Ara’s hand in his to gain her attention. Ara looked away from her father to Hamon, who was staring intently at her, she glanced back at him through the sheer revealing veil.
The priest hadn’t arrived yet, so they both stood at the alter. Hamon slowly whispered to her ear, "Do you know how beautiful you look? If I didn’t know it was my bride, I’d have thought you’re some angel from the heaven."
Ara’s cheeks were quick to flush under the veil, "Stop that...people are watching us."
Hamon’s lips tugged up in a wicked smirk as he said, "Which is why I want to hide you from them, the more they look, the more I feel the urge to rip out their eyes. I hate the looks the men are giving my bride, I can’t bear it."
Ara didn’t see the look on his face and thought he was joking and just smiled under the veil. She also did not like the stares.
Finally, the priest arrived at the altar. His white hair and beard, with the gentle smile gave him an air of benevolence. He bowed at the couples before he turned to the crowd,
"We’re all gathered here today to witness the bonding of two souls. And with all the people_"
Ara felt distracted not listening to a word uttered by the priest with how Hamon was still gazing at her. He had a gentle smile on his face, his two dimples were more visible than ever.
Hamon couldn’t believe he was finally getting married to Ara, after he’d waited for years, even a lifetime for this day, even though she might not feel love towards him, he was content with it as long as she was the one he was marrying.
Ara felt a little flustered at his fixed gaze, she felt she could melt from the affection that overflowed from his fiery crimson eyes.
The voice of the priest caught their attention and she felt his gaze leave her finally. "May the groom make his vows to his bride."
With a softened expression, Hamon began, "I Hamon De Biville, give my vow of external love, to have and hold you through the lengths of life, be it fair or ugly, through the dark and light moments, to cherish you, and adore you, till the day I seize to exist." His voice was deep and masculine however as he said his vows it turned slightly husky at the end filled with emotion.
The priest was about to make his declaration, but Hamon wasn’t finished yet, he continued, "To you I promise my undying loyalty to be the only woman to hold my heart, in this life time I choose you, and if there is another lifetime, I would still choose you." Saying this, he looked to her green eyes, holding her gaze firm, the intense look in his eyes swearing to every single word he said.
Ara’s heart skipped a beat, his gaze was deep she felt like it was cutting right through her invading every hook inside her soul. His vows sounded so sincere...
The crowd in the hall started to whisper in surprise. Usually, for royal marriages, the second part of the vow were normally omitted, as royal men were allowed to marry more wives and concubines in the future. Vowing eternal loyalty would be going against their own words later if the groom were to take another wife. But with how Hamon had sworn his eternal loyalty going against the norms it was evident she could end up being the only woman in his life.
People began to marvel at the extent of their love for each other.
No wonder their wedding looked so romantic, they were probably lovers from a long time. Love marriages weren’t unusual, just uncommon.
Ara stared back at Hamon without a word. The priest then declared, "I hereby declare you man and wife. May you live forever in happiness!"
Ara sighed in relief after the declaration. It was finally over, but the priest added, "You may now share the kiss of binding."
Ara was taken aback, she’d completely forgotten about that part, she glanced at Hamon with surprise, but he still held that smile on his face. He slowly lifted the veil over her hair.
