Chapter 597: Chapter 580 Vision·Lee

"How should the plot in the Golden Country be approached?

"Hasn’t the plot of ’Ascension’ in the Earth Country already been resolved?"

Zhuge Jun was curious.

Upon arriving at the new area of the Golden Country, what comes into view is a somewhat familiar standard Eastern Cyberpunk scene.

Of course, the Cyberpunk theme itself carries a strong flavor of Eastern elements, such as ninjas, katanas, Jiulong City, and various neon signs, which are actually commonplace.

However, the Cyberpunk style in ’Ascension’ integrates even more Eastern elements, such as high-tech buildings resembling pagodas, architectural styles similar to flying eaves, and a large number of Mechanical Monks, etc.

These contents have already been experienced by players in ’Ascension’.

Since players had already bought the physical version of the ’Fantasy Book’, which is actually a large collection of original art settings, they have also flipped through the part about the Golden Country.

They all know that the Golden Country is actually the Cyberpunk world in ’Ascension’.

However, players all share the same question: in the plot of ’Ascension’, the protagonist Li Huanzhen is actually traversing between two worlds - the plot in Earth Country Daliang and the Cyberpunk world are actually happening concurrently.

But in ’Endless Fantasy Legend 2’, players have already taken on the role of the Hero and resolved the evil spirit of Daliang ahead of Li Huanzhen, so what about the Golden Country?

Are the plots of the two regions separate? Do they not affect each other?

Somehow, no matter how it’s dealt with, it seems a bit odd.

But most players didn’t think too much about it; they just followed the plot and thought only of wreaking havoc.

If worst comes to worst, the two regions are completely separate, each with its own storyline, which wouldn’t really matter since although this game follows many settings from ’Ascension’ and ’Blood of Lies’, it’s not stated to be a sequel to both games, right?

Just like how there is still a fleet setting out from the Water Country to the Thunder Country, this is also a plot not present in ’Blood of Lies’.

Soon, Zhuge Jun arrived at the battlefront of the Golden Country’s invasion.

Boy, the style of drawing suddenly changed!

Over in Daliang, it’s all about a fantasy style, with soldiers wielding spears or sword and shield, and the presence of powerful cavalry, making the troops look robust.

Above them, several immortals were even floating around, naturally including Ningyun Monarch.

On the other hand, the style in the Golden Country is completely different, filled with various sizes of mechanical lifeforms!

There were four-legged mechanical dogs, mechanical soldiers with red lights flickering in their eye sockets, and various kinds of large combat machinery.

What caught Zhuge Jun’s attention most was that on the large combat machinery in the very center, there was actually a familiar face.

Isn’t that Li Huanzhen?

No, more precisely, that should be Vision·Lee, which is the name of Li Huanzhen in the Cyberpunk world.

From the appearance, this Li Huanzhen also resembles the image when he was in the Cyberpunk world of ’Ascension’, equipped with a special alloy and retractable metal wire which activates special holographic projections, and although he is also wearing a torn robe, the mechanical body underneath the robe can be seen.

He raised his right hand, which was made of special alloy materials, pointing the longsword at the military array of Earth Country Daliang.

No words were needed because these mechanical lives seemed to have united into a special cognitive network, becoming a completely new form of technological life.

Just shortly after the player-controlled Hero arrives, a new major battle erupts!

"Hey! No dialogue? Just start fighting?"

Zhuge Jun was caught off guard, but he didn’t mind too much, quickly using the current team lineup to meet the battle.

Then he was pressed to the ground and crushed.

"Hey! No, no, this isn’t fair, I wasn’t ready yet!

"At least let me switch my team!"

Currently, Zhuge Jun’s default team was still the one used in Thunder Country, as they were fighting enemies from the Water Country, so his team consisted of the Hero, Glacier General, Lei Tu, and Zhao Siyuan.

This team was quite justified against enemies from the Water Country.

The Hero, after special training, still primarily had the Wood attribute, but his secondary attribute could switch freely between the Fire attribute and the Time attribute. Of course, most players had switched it to the Time attribute. To switch back, it was necessary to return to the Wood Country area and operate again.

In this lineup, the Glacier General’s Ice attribute and Lei Tu’s Thunder attribute could both directly inflict counter-damage to Water Element enemies.

And the Hero’s Wood attribute and Time attribute could also counter Water Element enemies because when bearing the Wood attribute, the attacks on Water Element would be weakened, offering a significant reduction in damage.

As for Zhao Siyuan, he was kept as a backup character; when encountering enemies without a strong Water attribute, Zhao Siyuan could be switched in, his Earth Element shield making the battle quite comfortable.

Zhuge Jun’s team setup used to dominate in the previous version.

But unexpectedly, upon arriving in the Golden Country, they were completely outplayed.

The robots and large mechanical creations in the Golden Country have many attacks with strong Earth Attributes. Wood attributes are countered, and Earth attributes no longer have additional damage reduction effects; even with Zhao Siyuan’s thick shield, getting hit still hurts a lot.

As for Glacier General, his formerly powerful Ice Attribute attacks were totally useless.

These mechanical beings are impervious to Freeze and the extra damage caused during freezing, essentially making any effort wasted.

The only somewhat useful attack came from Lei Tu’s Thunder Attribute.

Generally, mechanical lifeforms should be afraid of Thunder Attribute attacks due to the risk of short circuits.

However, the mechanical lifeforms of the Golden Country are specially designed; even if hit by Thunder Attribute attacks, they only suffer very brief paralysis and overload states, without long-lasting control or significant blood loss.

Worse still, when these mechanical beings are in an overloaded state from thunder damage, their own attacks carry this state, bouncing back and beating Zhuge Jun brutally.

So, what really can counter these Golden Attribute monsters?

The answer is actually straightforward.

The best option is undoubtedly fire!

Since fire overcomes metal.

It’s no wonder that the Fire Country and Golden Country are always at war; considering the combat power of the Golden Country, among all the countries of the Fantasy Continent, only the demons of Fire Country could manage a fifty-fifty battle with their attribute advantages.

Zhuge Jun’s character pool of course includes Fire Attribute characters, like Echio, and the Hero who could switch back to Fire Attribute, but these maneuvers cannot be performed during the current main quest battle.

The result, of course, is getting beaten badly.

To make matters worse, Earth Country no longer has any evil spirits!

The powers of both sides were initially almost equal, but now they’re not!

If following the original plot of "Ascension," the powers of these two worlds were roughly comparable.

Although Earth Country Daliang is an ancient nation, it also possesses various supernatural powers, such as the evil spirits controlled by Black Tai Sui, the sinister followers of Xun Xiang Cult, and the massive Earth Element tomb guardian beast in Emperor Huang’s Mausoleum, and so on.

Between Golden and Earth Element, there isn’t an absolute counter relationship, Earth Element shields against Golden Element, although without extra absorption rates, aren’t specifically countered.

If you add support like Ningyun Monarch, an immortal coming from Penglai Immortal Island in the southeast, the power balance could be around fifty-fifty.

But now, Earth Country’s evil spirits are gone, and the Xun Xiang Cult is almost eradicated!

Unable to use the power of evil spirits, the balance of power between the sides instantly collapses.

Among the many mechanical beings, Vision·Lee was notably outstanding.

Below his health bar, he has a posture meter and also possesses a Knife Burst ability.

Moreover, his primary and secondary attributes are exactly the opposite of Earth Country’s Li Huanzhen.

Li Huanzhen of Earth Country has primary Earth and secondary Golden attributes, while Vision·Lee has primary Golden and secondary Earth attributes.

His minor skills are of the Golden attribute, and after a perfect Knife Burst, not only can he add extra Golden enchantments to his weapon, but he can also significantly heal himself, simply and brutally regenerating health.

His major Earth Element skill is even more outrageous, allowing him to summon a massive rain of Earth Element meteors from the sky and various types of Earth Element pillars from underground or other terrain-altering constructions, all of which possess Earth Element shield-breaking effects!

This ultimate move is full of flashy effects and numbers, without any special mechanics, but it’s just simple, brute force, and unreasonable.

Moreover, it specifically targets all of Earth Country’s Earth Element attributes.

If you want to break an Earth Element shield, there are many different methods; players have researched this before, like elemental reactions, charged attacks, etc., all of which can effectively weaken Earth Element shields. Nonetheless, the most effective method players currently have is using attributes of Wood and Water in combination with Time for reactions, to counter Earth attributes.

But there’s actually another method to break Earth Element shields, which is using even stronger Earth Attribute attacks.

In "Endless Fantasy Legend 2," attributes have different strengths, and different levels of elements produce different effect outputs during Elemental Reactions.

This is also true for Earth Element, divided into strong and weak Earth, and based on the strength, the effects of Earth Element skills will also vary; the lowest levels look like loess, followed by ordinary rocks, and more advanced ones appear as obsidian, and so forth.

And attacks from strong Earth skills when hitting a weak Earth shield also have a very strong shield-breaking effect.

Vision·Lee’s skill was just so; his major Earth Element skill inherently has strong Earth attributes, practically an indiscriminate counter to all weak Earth shields.

So, why hadn’t players used strong Earth Attribute attacks to break shields before?

Because Nitiandang hadn’t provided players with such characters!

All in all, Vision·Lee could almost be considered a super counter character against the entire Earth Country, utterly unplayable!
