(As of chapter 118) This is actually pretty good. The power-system in Yu-Gi-Oh! has always been very loose with the rules, but this elaborates and defines how it works in a way that makes sense in the expanded universe quite well.
The plot is also good. It adds something new that rehashes what people who've watched Yu-GI-Oh! Duel Monsters like. The characters in the original anime and manga were, let's be honest, pretty two-dimensional, with some minor character development, and this story is quite faithful to that.
What makes this story special is how it doesn't only not disrupt the original essence of it's source material, but adds more to it in the author's own way.
1 star is deducted due to the MC hogging the spotlight most of the time, but overall the story gets 4 stars for 1. accuracy to the original, 2. development in unexplored areas the original didn't cover, 3. an interesting (if semi-unoriginal) plot, and 4. a good, cool, and original power-system.
