Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon? -
Chapter 69: Forming an Exploration Team
Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Forming an Exploration Team
In the end, Steeran quietly slipped away through the back door.
The nun said there was a room full of people waiting for her, and even more were on their way here; it was all too frightening.
Even if these people all had good intentions, Steeran was still not good with such a large gathering, so she thanked the nun and asked her to convey her gratitude to everyone on her behalf.
She also paid the resurrection fee herself, asking the nun to return the money to the adventurers, thinking it better not to have others spend money on her.
Damn, did I really help that many people? It’s only been a few days!
Steeran donned her cloak with its hood pulled down to cover her face, heading home while enduring the occasional headache.
On the street, she passed by a familiar-looking group, and she clearly heard what they were saying:
"I heard that Steeran is now in the Resurrection House; I’m very interested in her, we might be able to recruit her into our Strategy Group," said a handsome blond man, Leon.
"Ugh," Maru drawled, "I hope she has a mature woman attribute, a young girl would also do, just as long as she doesn’t clash with my cute attribute."
"Stop joking, I heard Steeran has a team, and she has quite a reputation," Drew said calmly. Was he already back from the Magic Association?
"Then we’ll just take her," Tal’s proposal was simple and crude.
Steeran broke out in cold sweat and quickened her pace.
Lately, she really was just holed up in the Dungeon, having only shared some intelligence at the guild and had no contact with the outside world, so...
She didn’t know that she had become a hot topic of discussion.
And now even the Strategy Group was paying attention to her!
When she rushed home, an ominous premonition arose in her heart; sure enough, there was an unfamiliar young man waiting at her doorstep, obviously looking for her.
Steeran immediately turned to leave, but it was too late; he had seen her and came jogging over, calling out:
"Miss Steeran, please wait, wait, I’m from the adventurer’s guild!"
"The guild?"
Steeran finally stopped and asked, "Does the guild need something from me, to confirm intelligence again? But I really don’t remember the map."
"No, no," the guild staff waved his hands and said: "You encountered the Demon Clan in the Dungeon yesterday, right?"
Yesterday? Has a day already passed? Steeran realized for the first time how long she had slept in the Resurrection House.
Since becoming the Sun, in addition to fatigue, she did indeed develop a habit of excessive sleepiness.
"Yes, I did encounter them,"
The staffer asked anxiously, "And they..."
Steeran spread her hands, "They died."
"Ah!?" The staffer’s gaze instantly filled with reverence. "Did you, did you kill them all by yourself?"
"Uh..." Steeran scratched her head, "It’s a bit complicated, can we talk about this tomorrow? I have a terrible headache right now..."
"Don’t worry, Mr. Ceder has personally prepared a calming magic ceremony for you, I came specifically to find you," the staffer smiled: "Also, Mr. Ceder would like to discuss the Demon Clan with you. The two adventurers you rescued from the Demon Clan are at the guild now."
The adventurers I rescued?
She hadn’t even seen Barren and Sari from the beginning to the end; these two hid themselves too well.
Her head started hurting again; lying at home would only let her tough it out over time. She might as well look forward to President Ceder’s magic ceremony.
Thus, moments later, Steeran arrived at the adventurer’s guild, and was led by the staff directly to the third floor.
Only when discussing important matters would the third floor be put to use.
"Knock-knock-knock," the staffer knocked on the wooden door, saying, "Mr. Ceder, Miss Steeran is here."
"Please come in,"
Steeran entered the conference room and immediately spotted Ceder sitting at the end of the long table.
An imposing old man with powerful strength was her first impression.
If she had to explain, she believed that Guild Branch President Ceder could defeat a Molten Furnace Knight.
It’s odd—since when did Molten Furnace Knights become a unit of combat power?
It was also her first time seeing Ceder, even when previously she came to the Guild to openly share information about the bonfire, Sun Altar, and so on, she had not met this significant figure.
There was only Ceder in the conference room; the two adventurers mentioned before were not present. Steeran hesitated before taking a seat at the long table’s side and asked:
"Is there something you wished to discuss with me, Branch President Ceder?"
"Just sit there and do not move,"
Ceder spoke ambiguously. While Steeran was puzzled, she suddenly felt a surge of tremendous Magic Power rising from Ceder, branching into streams that flowed into the floor.
Something has been awakened!
A complex Magic Array suddenly lit up beneath her feet, one ring after another, with Magic Runes flashing in succession, even encircling her in the air.
Steeran felt uneasy, but then a warm sensation emerged from the Magic Array, reaching the deepest part of her spirit, causing her to relax involuntarily, her headache disappearing in a moment.
So this is the mind-soothing magic rite that person mentioned, truly effective indeed.
The magic rite lasted for nearly half an hour, completely relieving Steeran of her mental fatigue.
Ceder sat by without any hurry, his patience seemingly infinite, a trait for the elderly, who could sit motionless all day without feeling tired.
After a while, the Magic Array dissipated, and Steeran stretched, her spirits thoroughly uplifted, and said, "Thank you very much, Branch President Ceder!"
"Just call me sir,"
Ceder cut straight to the point and said: "I hope you can tell me in detail what happened after your encounter with the Demon Clan. I’ve already heard about the previous events from the two adventurers you saved."
So who exactly are these two I saved? What do they look like? I didn’t even catch a glimpse of them...
Steeran recounted the events, but she kept one detail to herself—she had died twice, bisected at the waist by a Molten Furnace Knight. That was too embarrassing to mention.
Ceder listened and fell into deep thought. After a moment, he uncrossed his left leg and inquired further:
"Have you seen any of the adventurers who died at the hands of the Demon Clan afterward?"
"?"
Question marks popped up over Steeran’s head; she had just been resurrected, where would she have seen them? Besides, she didn’t know them anyway.
Ceder laughed at himself and said, "Sorry, I’m too anxious, but circumstances force us to be urgent,"
"What circumstances?" Steeran couldn’t help asking.
"The Demon Clan," Ceder held up one finger "We originally thought that the Demon Clan’s infiltration level on the continent was one, but now that their traces have appeared even in Bed City, it suggests..."
He slowly raised a second finger, then a third, and a fourth...
Steeran grew anxious, "What should we do, gather forces to purge the Demon Clan?"
"How to purge if they can’t be found?"
Ceder shook his head and said, "The reason for calling you here is actually for another matter. In your previous report, you mentioned turning into a Sun Warrior because you obtained an item at an altar, correct?"
Steeran nodded.
"I’ve assembled an Exploration Team, and we will soon delve deep into Sain Dungeon to find the altar you mentioned. Would you be willing to join?"
The Elf lady expressed her surprise, "Are you saying you’re also going?"
"Of course not," Ceder smiled, "but I’ve found you partners who can truly be called elite."
