Chapter 458: Chapter 319: Your Weapon Seems a Bit Hellish
Question: What should you do when the BOSS suddenly starts charging up an obviously deadly big move right in front of you?
Answer... There’s no time to answer, quickly rush over and slash it!
Just at the first glance when everyone saw the Deep Bishops beginning to gather magic, they realized something bad was happening. If they couldn’t interrupt the opponent, it would turn problematic!
It’s as if the Sain Dungeon sensed their thoughts; around the Deep Bishops circled Elderly’s decaying flesh, symbolizing dark purple magic of the Deep, rising up and generating a layer of protective shield around them, blocking attacks.
The next battle goal was actually quite clear, adventurers only needed to focus all their efforts on breaking the shield and then killing the Archbishop to interrupt the magic, but Sain had many considerations.
For example... increased difficulty for those trying to cheat.
"Poof poof!"
Huge coffins erupted like a volcano, large masses of black decaying flesh falling from the sky, transforming in mid-air until they fully morphed into aliens upon landing.
Attached Maggot Corpses, Wandering Soul Soldiers, Church Knights, Maggot Men... monsters previously seen by adventurers appeared one after another, their numbers matching the Deep Bishops, and they crazily pounced towards adventurers before even hitting the ground.
Monsters transformed from the decaying flesh possessed values exactly like the Original God, but they had the added Frenzy State and focused on attacking the weakest among them.
This was the final mechanism, adventurers deemed as cheaters during combat would encounter fortified monsters formed by decaying flesh, and the charging speed of the Deep Bishops would quicken.
Regarding how cheaters are determined, if adventurers have historically or currently not lowered the two gates through normal exploration routes before challenging the Deep Bishops, they are determined as cheaters. If adventurers have ever lowered the gates in any past exploration, then even if cheating in future explorations, the penalty for cheating will be lightened, such as monsters not being the fortified version, halved decaying flesh, etc.
Moreover, if Fingerley and his team did not kill the two giant slaves before challenging the Deep Bishops, they will appear in this battle as well, counting as one of the cheating penalties.
Don’t be fooled by so many listed penalties, but in actual combat, it doesn’t seem too severe; only with the maximum penalty plus two giant slaves does it become difficult.
The main reason is that the Deep Bishops have insta-kill skills that are hard to use in normal combat and the release speed of these skills under the cheat penalty is greatly increased. Increasing the difficulty further under cheat penalties would be superfluous; better save some spiritual power.
"How do we fight so many?" Tusi was about to collapse as he saw those Church Knights seemed to have set eyes on their Bone Stick Team. What was this, specially targeting the weak?
Though running may be disgraceful, it is quite useful; right now there’s no option other than to run for the Bone Stick Team, even Maggot Men are enough to give them trouble.
Looking at the surging monsters, Fingerley sighed, glanced at Matilda, and said:
"Just let them see it, Matilda."
Aleya bounced once in place, the straw man’s expression changed multiple times, as if saying:
"There must be a way, can’t we not let Matilda act first?"
Fingerley shook his head, no point hesitating now, maybe going all out could win; they’ve discovered the secret of the red light, perhaps they might win at the first challenge.
Matilda said nothing, half kneeling on the ground, pressing her hand to the surface.
Aleya painfully closed her eyes, recalling the exclamation she made the first time she witnessed Matilda going all out.
"Is it really a weapon!?"
"Flash" Fingerley, known for his deceitful Flash Technique, earned this nickname.
Whereas Matilda’s title "Hell’s March" derives from her weapon effects.
Circle after circle of red aura emerged on the ground, like ripples enveloping the entire field, causing everyone’s mind a momentary daze.
"I’ll go calm the juniors, you make sure to replenish Matilda’s stamina."
Fingerley said and proceeded to resolve the crisis for Tusi and his team, the latter looked at the phenomenon caused by Matilda and asked: "What is happening?"
Suddenly recalling something, he exclaimed in shock: "Could the legend about the weapon be true?"
"Yes, we’re not trying to hide anything, but using it under normal circumstances is impossible." Fingerley nodded and said:
"Matilda’s weapon [Hell’s March] is precisely her armor, with effects to summon the dead who have ’injured oneself’ to fight alongside in battle."
As he explained, several red apparitions had already emerged around Matilda, ranging across ages and genders, charging collectively at the monsters. Some were dispersed by a single slap from a Maggot Man, while others managed to hold their own against Church Knights; it seemed the strength among apparitions varied.
"The dead retain their strength from before death; the weak may improve, but the strong cannot exceed Matilda’s own capabilities."
"Oh..."
Tusi nodded dumbly, the last time he saw anything like the weapon was with another group of Gold Level adventurers.
He suddenly had another question—
Rumors say Matilda was dismissed from the team because of the weapon, but the effects of [Hell’s March] didn’t seem extreme; when it comes to evil, Undead Mage’s magic is more wicked than this weapon, why was she dismissed then?
