Chapter 394: Chapter 284: Skeleton, Drawbridge, Crown_3

"Don’t move from here, I’ll go check over there," Sali looked towards the cave, and instructed, "If I encounter anything unexpected, then you all should run immediately."

Halfway through his sentence, he suddenly felt something was off, because the suspension bridge had collapsed, leaving the mercenaries with nowhere to run.

"Let me go, deputy captain, my life isn’t worth much anyway." Offered one of the mercenaries.

"Stop, don’t say that," Sali waved his hand and walked towards the cave, "In my eyes, you are all priceless treasures."

"Deputy captain..." The mercenary was moved to tears.

Sali carefully observed the surging Abyss, something he had never seen before, only recently learning about it through intelligence gathered from Bed City.

He found it difficult to describe such a thing, and dared to approach without triggering anything unusual.

"It doesn’t seem to attack me?"

He thought for a moment, first attempting to probe it remotely with magic, but it didn’t respond, then he stabbed a few times with his sword, still no response.

In the end, despite the mercenaries’ dissuasion, he reached out his palm to touch it.

The next second, before he could even utter a sound, he was suddenly sucked in!

"Deputy captain!"

The mercenaries were startled, but the Abyss suddenly became animated, opening its "gaping maw" to devour them one by one, while some were so frightened they leapt off the cliff voluntarily.

Once there was no trace of any living breath nearby, the Abyss gradually fell silent again.

Where did those swallowed end up?

Sali felt as if the world was spinning, and when he regained his senses, he found in front of him an ancient stone door that had been pushed open, revealing a tomb-like scenery behind it, and a familiar figure sleeping against the door.

"Elsa? How are you here?" he exclaimed with wide eyes.

"Sali?" Elsa opened her eyes, "How did you get in here too? It’s very dangerous here, where are the others?"

"They are safe."

Just as he uttered this, the mercenaries came tumbling in, their eyes wide in disbelief, leaving everyone speechless for a moment.

"How did you all..." Sali’s mouth twitched.

Finally, with Elsa’s explanation, they gradually came to understand everything.

After being struck away by a giant skeleton, she depended on a greatsword wedged in the cliff, then slowly clambered back up by punching holes in the rock face.

This... could only be said to be very much her personal style.

Then, because of her carelessness, she got sucked in and couldn’t get out.

"Are there any dangerous monsters here?"

Elsa shook her head, "No monsters, no traps, but there’s a dangerous presence."

Sali’s expression grew serious, yet reaching here, there was only the choice to move forward!

They rested for a while, restoring their bodies to optimal condition, having used up more than half of their supplies ahead, picked out some usable items, and left the rest to lighten their load.

Given the atmosphere, they were likely to face a boss next, and everyone was on full alert.

Passing through the tomb room door, they had little to say, as the ominous chill became more intense, as if lamenting souls were wailing, with the traces of the Abyss indeed disappearing.

Just as Elsa said, no monsters or traps.

Yet, deep down they felt increasingly uneasy, was this the calm before the storm?

At the tomb room’s end, there was another closed stone door.

Sali barely touched the door panel when he quickly retracted his hand, his expression altering dramatically.

Upon contact with the door, an overwhelming death crisis surged within him.

Behind this door was an extremely terrifying entity!

Perhaps it was the legendary Overlord Vonier...

Elsa patted his shoulder, instantly reassuring him considerably, with both wearing solemn expressions, they pushed open the door together, as the mercenaries behind readied themselves for battle.

As the door opened, they saw the crown.

Above the altar, a skull bearing a time-worn, dust-laden crown, its hollow eyes observing every visitor.

Upon meeting its gaze, an anomaly arose without warning.

Suddenly, they found with horror that their bodies could no longer move, and at that moment, darkness descended.

An endless black fog emerged from the skull, engulfing the ground, swallowing the crowd, eventually shrouding the entire tomb room.

People desperately craned their necks, yet in the end, couldn’t escape being enveloped by darkness, some holding their breath not daring to take a gasp, fearing the mist might be toxic.

Soon after, they discovered that as their vision plunged into utter darkness due to the dense fog, the space changed.

"Where are we now?"

Everyone suddenly found themselves regaining control of their bodies, but placed in an unknown space draped in black fog, they couldn’t muster any joyous emotion.

Just like the preceding Black Zone, it was so dark that one couldn’t see their outstretched hand, save for a glimmering light point not far away.

... A glimmering light point?

No one could resist the lure of the light point, no one.
