Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Seniors Should Take Care of Their Juniors
At the same time that Gong Qiying and Steeran were adventuring.
The members of the Morning Wind Team, Huynh, Ellie, and Danya, stationed in the swamp area, encountered a tremendously awkward incident.
"Sorry, really sorry, we’ll leave right now!"
Currently, an unfamiliar adventurer team was bowing in unison, apologizing to them.
"Alright, alright, you didn’t do it on purpose. We forgive you," Ellie said with a slightly forced smile. The last time she saw so many people bowing like this was at a funeral service, which felt rather strange.
"Really sorry!"
The leader of the unfamiliar adventurer team "Hammer Fall," a magician named Chiraj who didn’t seem very strong, looked utterly dejected and had become a repeater of apologies.
What happened was...
"Our team is all newcomers, and we haven’t learned the rules yet. We didn’t know that there’s a waiting period before entering the Teleportation Gate. We’re sorry for disturbing you..."
This team, comprised entirely of newbies, happened to queue right behind Steeran and the others when entering the Dungeon Teleportation Gate. They forgot to wait for several minutes before entering, and as a result, this happened—they ran into the Morning Wind Team.
It’s also a coincidence, although there was less than a two-minute gap between the two teams entering the Dungeon, the Morning Wind Team took a shortcut thanks to their previous exploration experience and quickly went a long distance. The Hammer Fall Team, exploring the Dungeon for the first time and unfamiliar with the place, immediately got lost in the vast swamp. With only a hundred-second difference, the two teams miraculously did not meet.
Later, it was Danya who heard the Hammer Fall Team’s screams as they were being attacked by Monsters and came to their rescue.
If it weren’t for them, the newbie team would have been food for Curse Frogs.
"Teleportation Gates can automatically recognize whether entrants are teammates. The probability of such a mix-up happening is only two percent," Danya clicked his tongue twice. "I should go out and buy a lottery ticket."
"Really sorry..."
"Okay, okay," Ellie helped each member of the Hammer Fall Team stand up one by one.
"Is this really okay?" Chiraj said nervously. With their team in the wrong and facing Silver Rank seniors, if they didn’t express their apologies properly, there could be retaliation...
Thinking this, his waist shuddered as he tried to bow again, but a hand clad in iron firmness stopped his shoulder.
As he looked up, he met the darkened face of Ellie.
This girl, known for being gentle and kind-hearted, now wore a "keep bowing and you’ll have to bow to your parents when you get home" expression. Although she was smiling, the smile was nothing short of terrifying.
"Eek..."
Frightened, the young magician stood up straight.
"Leader..." a timid young girl tugged at Chiraj’s clothes and said with a troubled face: "Let’s go,"
Including Chiraj, the whole Hammer Fall Team consisted of four people: a timid loli Priest, a taciturn glasses-wearing Magic Swordsman, a chubby Heavy Armored Warrior, and Chiraj, the frail Magician. All Bronze Rank, their faces all bore the naivety of newbies.
Just starting out, and facing the Sain Dungeon, that’s really...
They’d probably lose their greenness after just one night.
"Ah," Chiraj said, forcing a smile: "Then we’ll take our leave first,"
The Morning Wind side didn’t say anything, but as soon as Chiraj and his team started to turn away, Huynh spoke up: "Wait a moment,"
Sweat beaded on Chiraj’s forehead as he asked, "Do you need something?"
"You came all this way, let’s do this together," Huynh gave an unexpected response.
"Huh?"
The entire Hammer Fall Team was shocked, turning back to look at the Morning Wind Team, with no significant change in their expressions.
"After all, once you go out, you’ll have to wait a long time before you can re-enter. It’s such a waste of time," Ellie said with a smile: "You’ve all got Victory Flowers pinned on your chest. Let me guess, you bought them from the lady selling flowers near the Teleportation Gate, right? She can spot first-timers like you, then comes over to sell you the Victory Flowers, saying that wearing it will lead to unbeatable success, right?"
Chiraj’s face flushed; she had guessed everything correctly.
"Only newbies would be talked into buying this stuff," Danya cruelly taunted, but then shifted his tone: "However, those without passion and dreams for adventuring wouldn’t spend money on a symbol of good fortune, and you, spending your own money to buy flowers for your teammates, must be a good leader. It’s no bother to guide you,"
"Eh?" Chiraj showed a bewildered expression; the flowers indeed were purchased with his own money, but how did the other party guess?
Is guessing even necessary? Danya read Chiraj’s doubts with a glance, thinking to himself: Look at your teammates—dressed so plainly and even tattered, obviously not having the money to buy flowers. Only you, though your clothes are also worn, you carry a quite decent Magic Wand.
No matter their confusion, the Hammer Fall Team was moved to tears with gratitude; they hadn’t imagined they would encounter such an understanding and senior team!
This was a precious opportunity, to go on an adventure with Silver Rank adventurers, from whom they could learn a lot!
"Thank you so much!"
"Just remember to buy me a lottery ticket when you get out, to repay me for saving your life," Danya said with a wave of her hand.
Ellie breathed a sigh of relief; thankfully, Chiraj and the others didn’t bow again.
Huynh didn’t say anything, but the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
The two teams temporarily moved together, they lit a fire, took a brief rest, while waiting for Steeran to return to the group.
This wait turned into an entire morning.
Steeran was nowhere to be seen, and as his absence also caused the Hammer Fall Team to waste their time, Huynh and others could no longer wait and immediately decided to move on.
Both teams’ objective was the specialty produce that had appeared not long ago; in reality, it was about finding the region where the produce came from.
The Morning Wind Team believed that area should be somewhere they hadn’t explored yet, like the middle or lower levels; the existence of levels in Sain Dungeon filled with forests or entirely with ores was already no secret, with many having accidentally triggered teleportation traps and been teleported to the middle or lower levels.
Except for a very few lucky ones like Wild, the vast majority were instantly killed by the Elite Monsters guarding the traps before they had a chance to explore.
Hence, adventurers knew about the three levels of Sain Dungeon, but whether there were more remained unknown.
However, when the Morning Wind Team decided to explore further down, the Hammer Fall Team had a different opinion.
"I bought this from the old man who sells the specialty produce," Chiraj took out a dirty piece of wrapping leather, with a strong scent of seafood, which was rare around Bed City in the inland.
The person who had bought the wrapped food package from Jack that day was him!
Out of kindness towards the Morning Wind Team, he did not mind sharing this secret with them.
"Do you plan to use Tracking Magic?" Ellie asked.
"Yes, I was worried that my Magic Power wouldn’t be enough to sustain the Tracking Magic for a long time," Chiraj looked at Ellie: "If I can’t keep it up, please take over for me,"
He drew a Magic Array on the ground, placed magic materials, and after chanting for a while, a faint luminescence appeared on the surface of the wrapping, which rose into the air and flew towards the direction of the swamp, leaving behind a visible trail.
Unexpectedly, the wrapping flew towards the outskirts of the swamp area!
Either the Tracking Magic had failed, or...
The true location of the gourmet region was much closer than they had imagined!
After a short chase, the wrapping stopped in front of a mountain.
The entire swamp area was surrounded by high mountains, which served as the boundary on the map; so far, no one had been idle enough to climb them.
"Is this the end?" Chiraj looked around, puzzled; the mountains around were bare, with no paths to be seen.
Was he expected to carve a big hole straight through it?
"I can’t go on anymore,"
The chubby Heavy Armored Warrior let out a long sigh and leaned against the mountain wall, however—
"Ah!"
He fell flat on his back to the ground.
"What happened?"
Everyone’s attention was drawn by the commotion here, and they all stood stunned.
"Ow, that hurts, why did I suddenly fall," the Heavy Armored Warrior, rubbing his head, sat up "Eh, what’s that delicious scent?"
"Krug, behind you..."
Chiraj said incredulously:
"A big hole has appeared behind you!"
