Chapter 335: After the modification: Chapter 250 Wolf Blood Soul
"Do you want to refine a twisted soul to gain their power?"
"If you want, perhaps I can help. I am someone who studies ’refinement’ and can extract the characteristics from within a soul."
"This is a forbidden power, but it can indeed grant rare strength. You also desire the power of the Ember King, don’t you."
This was a voice Dal had never heard before.
Everyone exchanged glances, and despite the situation, they didn’t seem too surprised. After all, this was the Sain Dungeon; nothing was surprising here.
It’s just an old man’s voice asking if you want the Ember King’s power, not something to be shocked about.
If an old man suddenly emerged from someone’s body, bloody and asking questions, perhaps then there would be some emotional reaction.
According to the Dungeon Exploration Handbook written by the Skyrim Strategy Group, the first thing to say when encountering an unknown but seemingly communicative entity should always be—
"Who are you?" Dal asked.
"I am Rudes of Kuerlan... You may not believe it, but I was once an Ember King."
The scene in front of everyone holding souls changed; everything went dark, and in front of them appeared a new Fire Transmission Throne with Rudes seated on it.
A small, even legless old man, looking weak and pitiable.
Is this also an Ember King? People couldn’t help but compare him to the Undead Team, their expressions a bit strange.
"When you obtain a powerful soul, I will appear at the nearest Fire Transmission Throne and help you gain its power. So, do you want to obtain the power or not?"
"...Yes." Dal exchanged glances with everyone, finally deciding to try it himself, handing over the precious soul of the Undead Team.
"Then give me the soul; luckily, I still have a smelting furnace."
The Wolf Blood Soul disappeared into thin air in front of Rudes, and images and words formed by Magic Runes appeared before Dal.
[Warrior who has defeated a mighty foe, this is a special soul only obtainable by you, containing even more unique power.]
"Oh, you can actually extract two kinds of power from this soul." said Rudes.
Dal looked at those images; the most familiar things came first.
[Fran Greatsword]
Then, a pitch-black great sword, causing him to burst out with a curse due to his excitement.
[Wolf Knight Greatsword]
[Belonging to the Master of Wolf Blood of Fran, a knightly greatsword tainted by the Abyss’s darkness.]
[The Wolf Knight was a watcher of the initial Abyss, and this sword exerts great power against the subordinates of darkness.]
[Combat Skill: Wolf Sword Skill]
"Ar-Artorias’s weapon!?"
Dal could never forget the feeling of this weapon bisecting him at the waist, that cold, killing sensation was truly fascinating; he occasionally remembered it at night.
No need to hesitate, he immediately selected this great sword, and the next choice also made his heart leap.
[Wolf Knight Big Shield]
[Belonging to the Master of Wolf Blood of Fran, a knight’s big shield tainted by the Abyss’s darkness]
[With stable defense and added with a blessing effect, it grants its bearer resistance to various abnormal statuses.]
A set of weapons!?
He bit his lip, looking at the last two rewards.
[Wolf Blood’s Gift]
[Pure Wolf Blood]
A short sentence, but sometimes the most succinct is the most powerful.
And the other was [Huge Amount of Soul], alright, probably no one would choose this.
Dal stared at the Wolf Blood’s Gift and the great sword and big shield, deeply conflicted.
"Would you like some advice?" Rudes’ voice came.
Dal nodded, so he continued:
"Perhaps you’ve noticed, you all have Wolf Blood souls, but normally, a soul can only be one. So, what you hold are just some residual shadows, shadows of the past. The true soul of the Undead Team has long been thrown into the fire by the Ash."
"Since they are residual shadows, they inevitably have flaws. Those two weapons of the Wolf Knight are not the real deal, but it doesn’t mean they’re fake either... Just consider them the result of power worn down by time. After all, you couldn’t handle the power of the real deal, but that doesn’t mean these are worthless. At least for now, they are priceless to you."
"If I were you, I would choose that great sword and the gift, that’s all I can say."
Dal bowed his head in thought, then made his choice according to Rudes’ advice.
After making his choice, his figure instantly disappeared from this space, and Rudes said to the remaining people: "Who’s next?"
Gapar chose the same as Dal, the great sword and the gift. For someone like him who had never been blessed with Wolf Blood, this choice would grant him Wolf Blood.
When he was brought out of Rudes’ room, a sudden scorching sensation arose from inside him, making him frown involuntarily, but the pain grew more intense. Even Gapar’s strong will couldn’t help but squat down, gripping the ground and gritting his teeth to endure.
There seemed to be the sound of wolf howling coming from inside him, and the figure of a giant wolf appeared in his mind.
The sound of a scream suddenly came from beside him, it was from Dal. As the rest of the Fran Guards returned to the fortress, more and more screams echoed.
Everyone chose the Wolf Blood’s Gift, huh?
Who knows how long it took, but the pain finally ended, and Gapar stood up again, but—
