Chapter 245: Chapter 196 Reyalucaria Magic Classroom
When people mention "classroom," what comes to mind?
Perhaps lecturers with thick glasses exuding an air of age, blackboards filled with knowledge, students either paying attention or horsing around?
Gapar suddenly remembered the days when he trained in the swordsmanship classroom with his peers during his childhood. There wasn’t a blackboard there, just a brawny instructor and endless wooden stakes to hack at.
Apart from sword practice, his favorite thing was to sneak peeks at the only female student in the classroom before quickly turning away to resume training when she noticed.
Was that his first love? Back then, he even thought about confessing to her after becoming the top student in their period.
Unfortunately, the girl died one night after falling down the stairs, and his first love ended before it even began.
How could the female student, having always been adept in swordsmanship among her peers, have fallen down the stairs to her death...
From then on, the staircase of the swordsmanship classroom was nicknamed the "Supreme Grand Stairs."
"Why am I even thinking about this..."
Gapar waved his hand to dispel the gloomy atmosphere; they were all things of the past, and it served no purpose to bring them up again.
He should be happy now, after all, he had just entered the [Reyalucaria Magic Classroom]. Magic and classroom, this combination somehow seems like it might yield magical types of rewards, right?
Even just a little Fireball Technique would be nice, no, even a lesser Fire Control Technique would do, as long as it looks cool!
The elevator doors slowly opened, and a bright light pierced the darkness in front of him. Most people would squint at this point, but he was too eager and gazed straight ahead.
The first thing he saw was a floor so spotlessly clean it reflected light. Just the fact that the floor was clean made him like the magic classroom a lot more since everywhere else in Sain Dungeon looked grimy and run-down.
A warm-toned corridor lay before him, stretching further than he could see.
Just how long was this place?
Exquisite chandeliers hung from the ceiling. Upon closer examination, the light source within the chandeliers were individual orbs of Star Light Magic.
The two sides of the corridor were lined with doors, some closed and some open – these were the magic classrooms!
Gapar didn’t immediately rush into any of the classrooms; just as some people save the beef for last when eating beef noodle soup, Gapar understood the concept of "delayed gratification." He wanted to walk through the entire corridor first, then slowly "devour" the magic classrooms.
The longer the wait, the more delicious the payoff!
Portraits adorned the walls, and Gapar scrutinized each one: a magician wearing a bizarre stone head covering, a long-haired man with a gloomy face, a person with a large hat, a child with a scar on their forehead...
Their names were written underneath: Yazler, Obeck, Rogen, Harry Potter, Gandalf...
Who were these people? Since they were hung on the wall, they must have been outstanding magicians, right?
Each portrait seemed to have a distinctly different style.
Gapar memorized these names and faces after looking over them once, but aside from these portraits, there were other paintings.
A pale blue lake, a college under the night sky, children clutching brooms and snatching at something.
Lake Lienia, Reyalucaria, Quidditch Tournament – these were the titles of the three paintings.
Be it the people or places painted, there was absolutely no record of them in the contemporary world. It was like communicating with a distant, ancient era by looking at these paintings.
He walked forward a bit, but then he couldn’t resist turning around after noticing a magic classroom door growing distant behind him, and so he changed his plan to start exploring from the classrooms.
"Snap!"
Just then, a painting on the wall suddenly fell, and the crystal that served as a protective shield instantly shattered.
Gapar looked around; neither his eyes nor his Fighting Qi Perception detected the presence of any other creature besides himself.
It wasn’t done by a Monster.
He picked up the fallen frame. As the painting floated down after the frame shattered, he suddenly spotted writing on the back of the painting.
[Yazler, the esteemed Origin Magician who had touched the distant pioneer’s wisdom in the stone, the great instructor of the longstanding Kalerros Classroom, your contributions to magic are unparalleled]
Were the writings on the back meant to introduce the person in the painting?
Gapar suddenly furrowed his brows because he saw a disparate line of red text written beneath the introduction:
[Even though these contributions are meaningless before that thing]
Meaningless...
The red writing was clearly penned by a different hand. What was "that thing" that made someone add this sentence specifically on the back of the painting?
A sense of mystery welled up in his heart; uncovering the existence of the unknown always brought a mix of confusion and a whisper of fear about the uncertain.
Gapar wasn’t one to frighten easily, but he was curious.
Since this painting had writings on it, what about the others?
With that thought, he pried open Rogen’s frame, and sure enough, there was writing on the back of the painting too.
[Rogen, the Magic Master from Bieheim, known as "Big Hat," a legend who resonated with the White Dragon Heiss, your research on the soul and crystals is exceptionally rare in this world]
[Even though these contributions are meaningless before that thing]
There it was again, the same phrase.
Gapar suspected that Sain Dungeon was deliberately whetting his appetite. The same sentence followed each painting, and none explained what "that thing" actually was.
The delay in obtaining answers was indeed vexing.
The quiet corridor turned eerie because of the line of red text, as if some monstrous beast lurked in the shadows.
Too bad it was Gapar here; as long as the hidden entity wasn’t a Curse Frog capable of inducing a curse death, he probably wouldn’t be scared.
Clearly, the red writing was Sain Dungeon’s intentional play to set the mood and lay a groundwork of suspense to elevate people’s expectations.
Gapar was indeed a bit excited; this was like being provoked by a riddler.
Each painting had a different introduction with the red text remaining the same. After looking over them again and again, he found no other differences, and it seemed he would have to seek the true identity of "that thing" elsewhere.
"Forget it, let’s see what the classroom looks like first."
Standing at the door of the room closest to the elevator, Gapar’s eyes shone with anticipation like someone expecting a New Year’s Eve gift as he pushed against the tightly shut door.
"Cannot be opened from this side."
Gapar’s face darkened, and he harnessed all his strength into a fierce kick that sent the door, clearly designed with malice by its creator, flying open in an instant.
If only Sain could grant some kind of permission in the future that’d make the scene’s architecture indestructible. Although doors marked "Cannot be opened from this side" were all reinforced, they couldn’t withstand Gapar’s full-powered kick.
He straightened his clothes, wanting to enter the classroom—this sanctuary of knowledge—with an air of elegance. Unfortunately, he was compelled by the Sain Dungeon to resort to the brute force of a Martial Artist.
What a pity, how lamentable.
The room’s setup conformed to his stereotypical impression of a classroom: podium, blackboard, desks, and piles of books.
The room was empty, yet one could imagine the scenes where teachers and students exchanged knowledge.
Gapar immediately flashed to the pile of books; he had heard that the Sain Dungeon produced enchanted Book Pages capable of imbuing someone with magic knowledge instantly.
What if he could find them among these books?
But the moment he touched the books, he sensed something was off—why were they so hard?
Upon closer inspection, he saw that the books’ surfaces were covered with a thin layer of crystallization. Actually, it wasn’t just covering them; the books themselves had become crystalline.
For some unknown reason, these books had turned into mineral-like objects in the shape of books and could no longer be read.
"Why can’t learning magic be simple for once?" Gapar sighed, resisting the urge to destroy the crystallized books in frustration and instead began to wander around the classroom.
The classroom was filled with boxes of minerals and crystals rich in Magic Power; surely they would fetch a good price if sold.
The only point of light in the room was on the podium, but upon picking it up, it turned out to be the "Magic Grease Production Manual."
That’s it? The vast classroom has nothing else!
Gapar felt a twinge of disappointment, but he hadn’t expected to find what he was looking for in just one classroom anyway.
"Click, clack..."
Somewhere, the sound of metal scraping could be faintly heard, but it was only for a moment.
Gapar moved on to the second classroom, and it was configured exactly like the previous one, oh, with one difference.
Even the white light point was gone!
Looking at the remaining classrooms, he suddenly had a bad feeling.
Room by room, his exploration confirmed his fears—all of them were empty.
Five classrooms, and the most valuable things inside them were only Magic Grease and some unidentified boxes of minerals.
Just what were they teaching in these classrooms, civil mining?
Gapar took a deep breath, reminding himself that the corridor was long and there were other classrooms waiting for him to explore; it wasn’t possible to come out completely empty-handed.
He continued forward, the long corridor seeming to have no end. So far, he had not seen any other branching paths.
Finally, he found a new classroom door, but...
Why was this door collapsed? It looked as though it had been kicked open by some horrific force.
Gapar fell silent for a moment, glanced at his shoe, then at the footprints on the door and finally realized—the door had been kicked open by himself!
Inside the room, the layout was identical to the previous one, or rather, copy-pasting would be a more apt description.
He quickly looked back the way he came; the elevator was nearly out of sight, but he was certain it was still there.
The remaining classrooms were all the same, with material reuse and copy-pasting, no matter how you put it.
Suddenly, he smashed the podium of the classroom with the kicked-in door, then ran back the way he came and darted into an identical classroom.
Indeed, the podium here was also destroyed!
"...A loop?"
Gapar, worldly and experienced, did not panic but immediately began to think of a solution.
The events unfolding could only be explained by magic, and it could be the work of Space Magic, something he hadn’t encountered in a long time.
The key to breaking this situation might be hidden within these five classrooms.
Gapar looked at the classroom with the door that couldn’t be opened from the front side. Since it couldn’t be opened from this side, it must be opened from the back, meaning one thing.
There must be a way to enter the remaining four classrooms.
A Hidden Door perhaps?
Given the nature of the Sain Dungeon, there might be a Hidden Door or a Teleportation Treasure Box hidden somewhere.
How could he find the Hidden Door most efficiently? Since this item required touch to be revealed, then, for Gapar, the best approach was to immediately become a master at clearing desk surfaces.
He gripped the Linked Star Sword at his waist, a weapon he’d cherished since the moment he acquired it, enchanted with Combat Skills that greatly appealed to him, making it his favorite sword.
"Click, clack..."
The metallic scraping sound came again, but this time it did not disappear.
"Bang, bang!"
The ceiling suddenly collapsed; several iron cages fell down. Fortunately, Gapar ran away at the sound, or he would have been trapped.
But the trap wasn’t just iron cages. Along with the cages, several other things fell.
They looked like humans? No, how could humans have so many arms?
With the sound of gears turning, what appeared before Gapar was a group of dilapidated, puppet-like Monsters.
Their bodies resembled iron cages, each arm wielding a different weapon, and the most horrifying one had a puppet with four arms, all holding repeating crossbows.
These creatures were minions created by Magicians, developed specifically to combat enemies.
