Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon? -
Chapter 144 - 136: The Target is the Great Tomb
Chapter 144: Chapter 136: The Target is the Great Tomb
Leon strode down the street with a swagger that disowned kinship.
His hairstyle used to be parted like Leon Kennedy’s, youthful and lively, but now it has been combed back, with a tuft of blonde hair fluttering in front of his forehead, making him look adult.
Whether it was the way he walked or the swing of his arms, there was an extra energy about it that made you conjure joyful music just by looking at him.
Obviously, when he felt happy, he even thought about stopping to dance but his sense of shame sternly suppressed any social-suicide-inducing impulse.
He had let loose, but not completely. After all, dancing on the streets during a celebration night wasn’t a big deal.
"..."
Qiying went silent watching him.
Where did the bright and cheerful big boy go? Looking at Leon’s current hairstyle, it wouldn’t be odd if he declared "I want to stand above the heavens" the next second.
Now, Leon was even more sunny and cheerful than before, but perhaps too much so, almost like Spiderman possessed by the symbiote, directly turning into Bully Maguire.
Thinking of his portrayal in Unity Seeker...
It seemed Qiying understood everything.
"Eh?" Leon suddenly turned his head, looking over in this direction.
But seeing nothing, Qiying slipped away.
"Strange, I thought I saw someone I knew. Was I mistaken?" he tilted his head and then made his way toward the Resurrection House.
The crowd suddenly backed up, almost causing those behind to fall. Leon instinctively reached out and steadied them, earning a word of thanks.
Faced with the Resurrection House besieged by the dense crowd, how should he enter?
Fly? Flash? Take the back door?
No, he would walk through the crowd!
An aura suddenly radiated from Leon, it contained extraordinary confidence, the oppression of a strong being, the glittering spirit of a Knight... In short, a mix of various elements.
And then something magical happened. Whether they were aware of Leon’s presence or not, the people in front of him automatically parted, creating a path just wide enough for him to walk through.
It wasn’t until he reached the door that people realized a path had been unconsciously made.
In the past there was Moses parting the sea, now there was Leon paving the way!
This saying was unexpectedly comical.
"It’s Leon from the Strategy Group, haven’t seen him for a long time," someone recognized him.
"He looks a bit odd, doesn’t he?" another person scrutinized him, frowning.
"That’s right, that’s right, he looks strangely handsome!" someone exclaimed with an infatuated look.
Drew also noticed Leon but couldn’t get through the crowded mass.
He too was surprised by the change in Leon, while thinking to himself: Does Leon want to go in, but then—
There was nothing to ’but’ about. Leon lifted his leg and kicked, and with a "bang," the door was kicked open.
"Oh!" The crowd gasped.
People inside the Resurrection House jumped, and the Priest came out in a panic, thinking rivals had come to cause trouble, but when he saw that it was Leon who kicked the door, his face fell with anger and he said, "Do you know what place this is, how dare you kick the door like that!"
Leon patted the Priest’s shoulder, and said with a smile, "Don’t be nervous, I came to see how my teacher is doing."
"What?" The Priest’s eyes widened and he was about to say something, but suddenly he felt the hand Leon placed on his shoulder was extremely heavy, almost crushing him to the point of breathlessness.
"So, where is Teacher Jia Pael’s room?" Leon still smiled.
"There, over there..." the Priest quickly pointed in a direction.
"Very good, thank you," he said politely and proceeded to Jia Pael’s room.
Leon did not like to waste time with strangers, especially not on something so straightforward without pointlessly dragging it out.
He referred to the appropriate use of deterrence by force as efficiency.
And if deterrence didn’t work, then he would have to resort to physical confrontation.
Lifting the curtain, everyone in the room turned to look his way, except for Sword Saint Jia Pael, who was staring intently at the hilt in his hands.
"Teacher, I came to see you,"
Leon approached Jia Pael, but the latter seemed not to hear him.
He inquired with his eyes to the others, but they too were clueless—Jia Pael hadn’t spoken a word, and they didn’t even know how the Sword Saint had died.
Something that could bring death to the Sword Saint must have been a dreadful encounter with a Monster; such is the horror of Sain Dungeon.
Leon glanced at the hilt, still with a trace of blade and covered with heavy rust.
He roughly guessed what had happened, shrugged his shoulders, and whispered in Jia Pael’s ear, "Teacher, I found a nice sword. If you don’t snap out of it soon, I’m taking it, you know,"
Jia Pael’s gaze gradually regained clarity, and he grabbed Leon’s wrist, asking, "What sword is that, let me have a look!"
Leon placed a pair of Reverse Swords from his waist before him; Jia Pael had never seen this weapon because it was only after Leon returned from training with Jia Pael that he had it made by a blacksmith, as a precaution for his confrontation with the Avatar of Soul V.
"The shape is peculiar; I have seen similar weapons used a long time ago," Jia Pael looked at it for a while but lost interest, and finally agreed to come down from the bed.
The priests and nuns of the Resurrection House looked at each other in disbelief. Had they really managed to wake the Sword Saint using this method?
"The time for mourning has ended," Jia Pael said calmly, and after sizing up Leon, he continued, "Good, you look energetic, quite like how I was when I was younger. It seems the matters at home have been settled smoothly."
"It’s all thanks to your teachings," Leon bowed slightly, always keeping a humble attitude in front of his teacher, "Now that you’re here, teacher, you must have come for that thing. Why don’t you rest at my place first, and we’ll go together tomorrow."
"Hmm," Jia Pael did not refuse, and the two of them walked out one after the other.
The elder priest hesitated many times but couldn’t find the opportunity to speak up, and before he knew it, they were about to leave without saying a word.
At this moment, Jia Pael turned back to look at him and said, "Thank you for the healing, the technique isn’t bad, made this old skeleton of mine feel a lot more comfortable."
The elder priest was stunned, then visibly showed joy, grabbing a nun’s shoulder incessantly and asking, "Did you record it, did you catch that just now?"
The nun looked towards the Image Stone on the ground, but...
"It’s gone?"
Not long after, at Leon’s residence.
The members of the Strategy Group all hurried over after hearing that Leon had returned. The house that had been quiet for a while was now bustling with noise.
"Boss, why didn’t you give us a heads up when you returned!" Maru messed up Leon’s hair as if in retaliation, and he just chuckled like the boy next door.
"I’ve booked a restaurant for tonight to celebrate your return," Tal wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth.
Drew watched Leon thoughtfully; Leon seemed no different from before, but why did he seem so different when he was outside just now?
He was becoming a bit worried for Leon. As the oldest in the team, he had always looked after his companions.
I’ll have a chat with him another day, Drew thought to himself.
Jia Pael was quietly sipping his tea, his mental state appearing quite stable.
During the conversation with his companions, Leon learned about the recent events and couldn’t help feeling astonished:
"I was only out for a month, how come things have changed so much..."
The structure of Sain Dungeon had changed. The previous three levels, upper, middle, and lower, had all become one plane. Then...
He glanced at Jia Pael, pondering: What counts as a clear?
Is clearing one area enough, or do we have to get through them all? Will the Tear-Drop Embryo reward reappear?
And then there was Fran Fort and the Fran Undead Team, did new stories emerge?
"I really want to check it out," Leon clenched his fists, filled with enthusiasm. He had always been weak to hero tales, not to mention the Fran Undead Team’s story sounded like a group of tragic heroes, which was even more worth seeing.
The Strategy Group members all understood, it looked like they could all venture into the Dungeon together again tomorrow, aiming for Fran Fort.
Maru suddenly remembered something and said:
"Right, boss, I heard some intel about the new area from another team, and it sounds very interesting,"
During the Strategy Group’s absence, several self-proclaimed "Strategy Groups" were formed among the adventurers. Some teams only had the name, while others actually had real strength.
The intelligence they brought was about the previous underground mining area, which is now called the "Great Tomb area" because it’s filled with tombstones.
"The final boss there is called..." Maru deliberately paused, hoping to tease a reaction, but everyone just smiled indulgently, showing no impatience.
Feeling a bit bored, she went on: "It’s called the Death Ritual Bird."
"Is it strong?" Tal asked. The Death Ritual Bird, just the name sounded formidable.
"Very strong; even if we all team up, we might not be able to beat it," Maru automatically excluded Sword Saint Jia Pael, "But there is a way we could clear it!"
"Hurry up and tell us," Tal urged.
"Heh, finally getting anxious, huh?"
Maru wagged her finger, saying: "According to the intel from that team, the Death Ritual Bird can be weakened if certain conditions are met."
"Just by defeating the Elite Monsters found in the Great Tomb area, we can diminish the Death Ritual Bird’s strength and bring it down to a level we can defeat."
"Currently, there are three types of Elite Monsters discovered: Death Knight, Call Ship, and Sub-human Sword Saint."
Upon hearing the term Sub-human Sword Saint, Jia Pael lifted his head.
"The Great Tomb area is vast, filled with Undead Type monsters that are not easy to kill. But that’s our opportunity, isn’t it? If we just prepare enough Holy Light-type artifacts, we can greatly lower the difficulty."
As if to entice Leon, Maru added:
"It is said that the team also discovered the story of a hero known as ’Wolf Knight,’ who is an idol of the Fran Undead Team. That team has only uncovered bits and pieces..."
Before she could finish, Leon clapped his hands and declared:
"Great, we’ve decided to go there!"
