When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?! -
Chapter 93 - 94: Now This Is Exciting
Chapter 93: Chapter 94: Now This Is Exciting
The two of them arrived at Cail’s room with no issue. Zishi sat on the couch and was quick to doze off the moment he felt a sense of relaxation.
Cail walked toward the restroom. After locking the door, he rolled up his sleeves to get a better look at the mark. It was an angry red. The space mark usually looked very dull and unnoticeable, but now it finally looked like a proper tattoo imbued with red ink.
"What’s causing it to act this way?" Cail took out everything that was inside the space. The redness and sore feeling didn’t stop until he took out the box.
After finding the culprit, Cail put back the stuff he had taken out, except for the box. He placed it on the sink and opened it. Inside was a glowing ring with a bright emerald gemstone in the center.
Actually, aside from selling and developing long-term schemes, he had already lost interest in the artifacts. He couldn’t use them and they couldn’t affect him, so he was just carrying them around like they were useless jewelry boxes.
This was the first time it caused him discomfort.
"Is it only this ring?" Cail was cautious. He took out all the jewelry. So far, it seemed that only the ring was the issue. He touched the empty box. This was a sight rarely seen since the box was always full.
Then something unexpected happened. The moment his hand touched the bottom of the box, it suddenly sank down as if eaten by quicksand.
Cail was quick to pull his hand out. His heart pounded. That was very unexpected. Although he could regenerate a new one, he wouldn’t want to lose his hand for some obscure reason.
"What was that?" Cail took a step back. The sensation in his hand after it sank down... it felt cold. So cold that it was painful.
He double-checked his hands, making sure that he wasn’t missing a finger. He asked his bracelet, "Did you notice something off?" He was just asking, not really expecting that the Fake God had sensed something.
The Fake God felt confused. "I couldn’t sense anything."
That answer was not a surprise. Cail looked at the box and touched the bottom again.
His hand did not sink.
Cail’s eyes narrowed. Was that a glitch or something? What was that?
Although he already had a guess where the box got the artifacts it was selling, he had never really confirmed it. The artifact that he had found with Veyr was inside the space, as it couldn’t be put inside the box.
He could sell or use the artifacts he found without pricing, so what made the artifacts that came from the box special?
Cail gently put all the jewelry back inside the box, except for the ring. After making sure that his mark was no longer acting weird, he rolled his sleeves back down and turned on the gears on his glasses.
The information of the ring appeared:
..
Artifact: Ring of Rena
Level: B
Effects: The user can use this ring three times to teleport through space, but it is not guaranteed that the whole body will remain intact after teleportation.
Compatibility: Anyone with space affinity, Conductor Realm.
[Warning: The ring is starting to act out of control. Please fix the issue immediately.]
...
Cail looked at the information and sighed. How would I know the issue? And if this really goes rogue, what would happen?
"I guess I’ll have to wait." Cail wanted to toss the ring far away, but he couldn’t. Artifacts that aren’t sold will just come back inside the box even if tossed. He just placed it in his pocket and hoped for the best.
He opened the bathroom door and saw from his angle that Zishi was sitting on the couch, wide awake and staring at his phone.
"What happened? Did you contact them?" Cail asked.
Zishi looked at his unread messages and shook his head. "None of them are responding." Then he had an ominous guess. "They aren’t dead, are they?"
Cail continued eating the chips he had bought. He thought about what happened and had a guess. This hotel seemed to be divided into some kind of dimensions... not sure yet.
His void energy couldn’t support his artifact usage yet, so he had better check it later. The third twist seemed to be the best to use for ’seeing,’ because the first twist seemed to only work for obvious void energies and parasite threads.
The room was starting to become suffocating... well, at least for Cail. His mind kept wandering, thinking about something. Maybe he should leave tomorrow? But the ring now added to his concerns.
"I’ll go to the balcony to catch some air." After throwing the trash away, he walked toward the balcony to see the rising sun.
The air was a bit damp, but the sky was already starting to brighten. The coldness of the morning and the sunlight mixed together, creating a unique and relaxing sensation.
"The air here is very different from Nyx City," Cail casually commented.
Nyx City was very polluted, to the point that it was always filled with smog. Cail remembered that when they moved there, he had been coughing nonstop for two months straight, to the point that he suspected tuberculosis.
Although his mother smoking inside the house probably contributed, he adapted to the air in Nyx City after some time.
Duskburn City seemed to prioritize being environmentally friendly. They probably saw what kind of mess Nyx City was.
Cail felt calm looking at the rising sun. His hotel room had a great view. His side of the hotel seemed to be on the backside, but it still captured the beautiful sunrise.
It was a quiet and peaceful time.
Until he felt a strong killing intent behind his back.
It was so sudden that Cail was a bit shocked. Even he had never expected this development.
But what followed the shock was excitement and curiosity. Instead of looking back, he continued watching the sun.
Then he felt a strong push from behind.
Cail gripped the balcony railing, but it collapsed, sending him straight down.
He saw that the screws were loose. Someone had tampered with the railings. It was a planned attack.
"This is another type of viewing experience," he thought. He was falling face first to the ground... regrettably, he couldn’t see the sky view.
He had been thinking that this hotel experience seemed boring. Then he was hit with an unexpected surprise.
Then he plummeted to the ground.
