When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?!
Chapter 83 - 84: I Can Finally Rest Right?

Chapter 83: Chapter 84: I Can Finally Rest Right?

The gang’s voices grew louder. Boots stomped on grimy tiles.

The guy in front of the stall continued talking. "See those shoes? Ain’t no regular dude wears boots like that."

Cail became a bit self-conscious. He looked down and saw his rugged boots, stained with mud and dried blood.

Another voice sounded outside. "Probably some druggie. Kick it open."

The stall door rattled violently. Cail sighed as he zipped up his pants. Great, he had just come back and was already dealing with idiots. Of course, what should he expect? He was a misfortune magnet at this point.

Cail, dead inside from exhaustion, said, "If you kick this door one more time, I’ll greet you holding a gun to your head."

The banging stopped. Cail sensed hesitation. After zipping up his new jacket, he pushed the door open. He was met with no resistance, but the moment his eyes landed on the group, he was almost blinded by the bright colors.

Yellow, red, blue, pink... and heck, even worse, green. All the guys outside his stall had colorful hair and multiple face piercings. Cail didn’t discriminate when it came to people’s fashion choices, but honestly, this combination was horrendous.

Bright hair colors and black fake leather jackets with spikes all over them. Cail had experienced the gang era, but it had never been this painful to the eye, despite his straight male aesthetic.

Of course, Cail wasn’t the only one shocked. They were also a bit speechless when Cail came out.

A man with a cracked helmet stood before them. He wore a denim jacket with black trousers. His hands were wrapped in a pair of black biking gloves.

Seeing that they seemed taunting and excited for a fight, Cail just wanted to rest. "You guys mind? I just came back from the dead, and your entrance is giving me déjà vu." A déjà vu of a new incoming mess.

The gang stared at him. One guy chuckled nervously and whispered to the man beside him, "Bro... he said what? Came back from the dead? This guy’s not high, right?"

The gang leader masked his confusion. But anyone who dared mess with his gang was his enemy. "You got a death wish?"

Cail tilted his head. He had no idea when using a bathroom became a death wish, but he just wanted this to be over with. "No, I don’t, but I think you guys do. One more yap and I’ll lose my patience." His patience for nonsense was never good to begin with.

The gang was visibly thrown off by his cold declaration. Their leader stepped forward, trying to reassert dominance. "Listen here, wise guy. This is our turf. You mess with us, you—"

This was all too familiar to Cail. He cut him off. "—end up on the floor, making out with a urinal. Yeah, yeah. You all read the same villain script." Goodness, they never changed. It was a typical script.

One gang member saw a gleaming black object on Cail’s wrist. His eyes locked on the black jade bracelet.

The gang member thought the jade looked exquisite. "Yo, that’s real? Looks expensive..."

Cail glanced at his wrist and spoke inside his mind, "Dear Fake God, your beauty is as radiant as ever. You even managed to catch these people’s attention."

The Fake God ignored Cail’s sarcasm. "Your world... It seems to be governed by the same laws as mine. I don’t think killing them is a wise choice."

Hearing one of the gang members point out the bracelet, the rest looked at it with a hint of greed.

Cail raised his wrist. "It’s... delicate. I advise you guys not to touch it."

Then Cail reached his hand toward the stall. It was just a cover, but he summoned his rifle from his space and pointed it toward the gang.

The gang backed off. Panic was evident on their faces. Fuck! How did it suddenly escalate to this? They were expecting extortion, blackmail, and maybe a fight... but not a gunfight ...And not just any gun. A rifle.

The gang leader hid the knife inside his pocket. It was obvious he couldn’t win against a rifle. "Ca—Calm down, man... We were just kidding. No need to be that aggressive. It’s just a misunderstanding." Where did this weirdo come from...? Fuck, did they stumble upon some big shot?

Cail watched them back away from the bathroom with their hands up. The moment they crossed the door, he heard them running as if a mad dog were chasing them.

He sighed. Finally, peace. He placed the rifle back in his space. He turned to the cracked mirror and took off his helmet.

"I’ve never looked this ugly," Cail stated. His face was pale. Although the regeneration helped, just like the potion, it couldn’t restore energy. Dried mud and blood were still on his face.

He turned on the faucet and bent down to wash his face. Feeling that it was too quiet, he spoke to the Fake God. "You see that? I didn’t kill anyone. Personal growth."

The Fake God chuckled dryly. "Your sarcasm is worse than your spatial control."

Yes, while Cail was now starting to master how to use his space, his control was still pretty bad and it was evident when it came to any sentient things.

After suddenly being attacked by the Fake God, Cail was sullen.

But... Cail smiled at his reflection. Inside the jade, the Fake God could sense what was going on outside but couldn’t physically see it. If he saw this face of his... What would be his reaction?

Cail cracked his neck. Damn, it was relieving. He put on his eyeglasses and fixed his hair. After making himself look decent and presentable again, he walked out of the bathroom.

He squinted his eyes at the glaring sun. His head felt unusually light after taking off his helmet. He wasn’t used to it.

He took out his phone from his space. He opened the case, and inside was a card. Something he kept for emergencies. Saying he didn’t have any money earlier meant he didn’t have any physical cash. But hey... how could he truly let himself be penniless?

The date and time were still the same as when he vanished. No class tomorrow... so maybe he should rest first at a hotel.

"I hope I can finally rest..."
