When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?! -
Chapter 61: Battle With The Lover Boy
Chapter 61: Chapter 61: Battle With The Lover Boy
Cail noticed that the cloud seemed to only give a vague indication of his location... like the area but not the specific spot where he was standing.
"This is salvageable." His eyes darted around. He put Veyr on the ground and asked, "Can you help me get out of this mess?" He had no guilt or shame whatsoever in asking a child for help.
Veyr looked like he was the one being chased. His lips were pale, and the dried tears and blood in his eye made his face look very pitiful. He said, "The artifact that I am using seals the majority of my power."
"Who let you use that? And you agreed to it?" Cail found a hidden spot and stuffed Veyr into it.
Veyr was very cooperative. He dug himself deeper into the spot. When he finally managed to position himself, he looked Cail in the eyes and answered, "My brother told me to. My brother won’t harm me."
Cail, who was about to rush out, heard that response. He paused and looked at Veyr in disbelief. "Oh, how innocent. I never knew you were this cute."
Time was running out. Cail pinched Veyr’s cheeks, saw him redden, and gave him a bracelet similar to what he had given that white woman before. "Stay here. But if this place gets damaged by the fight, you’re a smart little guy! You can find a way."
Then, before rushing out, he looked at Veyr and made a gesture of pointing at his eyes and then at Veyr, meaning, I’m watching you.
Veyr looked away from him, pouting.
...
Cail panted. "This level of physical exertion... I have never done this before, not even during those times when I was messing around." He was dragging his injured body and was flirting with death at this point.
He could sense two auras near him. Instead of running away, he rushed toward them.
"Playing hide-and-seek is not my forte," he muttered as he went face-to-face with danger.
He could see a man in the distance. A rifle appeared in his hand and—
BANG!
It hit a tree root that had just sprung out of the ground. The man was quick to react; the shot revealed Cail’s position. Cail felt something below him. He looked down and saw the grass wrapping around his feet.
If it were normal people, there would be no way they could break free from these fragile grasses because they were imbued with void energy. But for Cail, with null, the strength of these weeds was the same as ordinary grass.
Cail was quick to break free from it, but he was already wary of the man. The grass was harmless, but if it had been a thick tree root, it could certainly have harmed him.
The two people who were approaching, Cail knew them. He had seen them leaving the house, and he even knew the girl more than the guy.
Sirae and Aires. Aires was the one with the plant ability.
"What organization do you belong to? Maybe we can negotiate this. We don’t want to kill you," Aires said calmly as he shielded Sirae behind him.
Cail wanted to make a face at them. "No." He wouldn’t risk his life for such a meaningless promise. He pointed his rifle at them and shot.
The bullet hit steel. Aires and Sirae didn’t need to dodge, as the aim was off. Just as Aires was about to say something, he heard rumbling behind him.
His eyes widened at the falling concrete. He screamed, "Sirae!"
Sirae wasn’t an airhead. The moment she felt the rumbling, she was quick to dodge. But unfortunately, because of her rush, she didn’t realize that she had entered a small compartment.
"Oh, if you were that quick before, your sister wouldn’t have been almost killed," Cail said loud and clear.
Sirae managed to hear that, but she was trapped inside the compartment. She could no longer escape before her only exit and entrance was blocked by rocks.
She couldn’t ask, but Aires, who was outside, heard what Cail said. His eyes were blazing with rage. "You! What did you do to Inshi?!" At the same time, thick roots came out of the ground, attempting to tie Cail up for interrogation.
Looking into Aires’s eyes full of rage and worry, Cail felt wonder. Such raw and precious emotion coming from another person toward the woman he loved... this was the third time he had seen such a look.
Aires looked like a gentle and reasonable man. Cail had to rouse his temper in order for his plan to succeed. But it seemed to be a bit of overkill. If before Aires was a gentleman, now Cail could see his malicious intent in his eyes.
That was to interrogate and torture Cail before killing him.
Cail’s eyes widened with excitement. Such raw emotion! Let’s ignite it.
Seeing that Aires was hot on his heels, Cail ran. He knew the perfect place to conduct this battle.
...
"Hehehehe, fucker." Cail laughed as he panted. His helmet was almost shattered from the whipping of the vines. Aires was a bad-tempered guy, that’s for sure.
Luring him into the greenhouse was both a good and bad choice, but Cail knew what he was doing. He needed to lure him here.
"What did you do to Inshi?!" This time, Aires was already burning with rage and anxiety. He wasn’t unscathed. His shoulder and thighs had been shot. He was bleeding, and his void energy was running out.
Cail was worse. His jacket was ripped. It looked like he had been whipped... no, it didn’t just look like it; those vines had really almost smashed him in half.
Touching his waist, he lamented, "Ugh, my karma. I thought it was done, but the karma for murder is probably worse, isn’t it?"
Hearing that question again, Cail was fed up with this lover boy. "Aya aya. You’re weak as fuck! Not even managing to kill me after all those attacks." But heck, please don’t suddenly power up or else I’m dead.
This guy Aires wasn’t weak, but the enchantments on the roots were useless. Cail’s null made the enchanted roots no stronger than normal roots. Normal roots were easy to break down by physically powerful void users. Even if Cail was still at conductor level, his physical strength was enough to deal with the roots.
Aires obviously noticed that, so he focused more on whipping Cail.
"The finale is almost here!" Cail was almost turned on from excitement. He wasn’t sadistic, he promised! But the idea of his plan working made him feel high.
"I pity my client. But it’s your fate... whether you survive this or not."
