When Did I Become An Artifact Dealer?! -
Chapter 121 - 122: Powerhouses
Chapter 121: Chapter 122: Powerhouses
Cail looked away from the tempting shops that artifact dealers. Hal was already calling him because the auction was about to start.
The group arrived at a pavilion. Cail looked up. It was tall. The reason why he didn’t specify how high is because he couldn’t see the end of it. It disappeared into the sky.
This time, the pavilion was really gold. The walls, decorations, and even the banners that surrounded the area were gold. Cail almost got blinded. He was about to push his glasses when he realized that he was wearing contacts.
He is not used to this yet. But for some reason, contacts felt a bit odd in his eyes. It’s no the contacts, but more like his eyes rejecting something touching it.
Back to the pavilion, it didn’t look gaudy or cheap. It radiated a domineering arrogance, as if stating it deserved to stand out regardless of what people think.
There aren’t any messy crowds gathering at the entrance. No one dares gawk, not just because of the pavilion’s prestige but also because of the towering guards surrounding it.
"Wow! How extravagant! They even hired Clashers as guards!" Neris’s eyes almost popped out. He had been in the Golden Pot before, but not in the pavilion. This place had a strict 18-and-up policy. Their group was all adults. Bram, the eldest, is 20, and Clea, the youngest, is 18.
Clashers are void creatures. They are different from those malicious and crazy ones. They are very smart — not genius — but they can communicate with humans and, despite their large size, are actually quite peace-loving. Of course, unless you provoke them first.
Each guard is ten feet tall, with bulging muscles and light brown skin that resembles sand. They are very reclusive, and being able to hire them means that your offer must be tempting enough for them to agree.
"Let’s go inside." Hal was the first to recover. Although he was also in awe, his family had hired a few ’good’ void creatures. None of them had high status, but most were good.
They followed Hal silently. This is their first time — what if they made a mess or a mistake? Will those giants smash them to death?
Cail was also looking around. The Clasher caught his attention. Why? Because, looking at their traits, he found that the team leader he killed had some traits similar to the Clashers.
Saeb looked at Hal. "What do you think about humans and void creatures having children."
Hal didn’t look surprised by his question. He just thought that Saeb had been thinking about something. "It’s okay... But not really advisable. Although the child may be powerful, there are many risks. The statistics are very unreliable."
Remembering something, Hal couldn’t help but say, "Take Sellene for example. She doesn’t look human, right? Her father is a half-void creature and her mother is an ordinary void-user. Although I’m not sure what the status of her parents and siblings is, Sellene’s physique is a bit delicate."
Cail felt a jolt in his heart. The Chairman is not pure human? "It must not be easy for him to climb the ranks." Cail didn’t think that humans were very tolerant of that. They are even racist toward their own species — much more toward an alien kind.
Hal didn’t think much of it. There are actually a lot who discriminate against hybrids, but Hal wasn’t one of them. Because somewhere down their family line, there was a void creature who held the title of ’Madame’.
They finally arrived at the entrance. The group presented the token, and the huge door opened. Inside was not gold as expected — just a normal-looking pavilion. Well, not really normal; it was still pretty and elegant, but not shimmering gold.
The group’s token made them eligible for a ’lower seat’. They didn’t mind. They knew that getting inside the pavilion was already an honor.
The seats are not actually chairs but more like rooms. They went inside, and after seeing the room, they were a bit taken aback. It looked amazing. If the lower seat is this great, then how about those above them?
Idris touched the couch; it was made of leather from some unknown creatures. It wasn’t an ordinary creature but probably a void creature. Of course, not a sentient one... or at least he hoped so.
They sat down, and a huge holograph appeared on the wall.
Hal was the most knowledgeable, so he explained what was happening to them, "You know the Chairman is considered the strongest void-user, right? Of course, that’s only in our country. In this auction, other powerhouses will appear. You better not mess around, because if something happens, my family can’t cover up for you."
After Hal said that, the holograph suddenly shifted toward the door. The Clashers opened the doors — a treatment only for those with power.
The moment the door opened, a voluptuous woman stepped inside. She is wearing clothing that barely covered her body. The men inside the room, except for Hal and Cail, blushed. What she was wearing was even more revealing than a bikini.
Hal knew how brutal that woman was, so he really wasn’t affected. As for Cail, he preferred employing emotions (making people break down) over physical allure.
"That woman is a powerhouse from Gi country. Her name is Lady Death — that’s not her real name, but that’s what we call her." Hal introduced the woman to them. "I don’t know the specifics of her ability, but she is known to have a hobby of killing men."
Then he paused and found a good way to describe it: "Like an attractive flower luring in a poor insect. The moment it landed on its petals, it would reveal its true colors — a flesh-eating flower."
Clea wasn’t affected, but she admired her beauty. "I heard most powerhouses are secretive. Why are they showing her openly like this?"
Hal’s face faltered a bit. He struggled to say the reason but ultimately managed to. "Advertisement... People have no idea who owns the pavilion, but apparently, they’re powerful enough to use these figures as advertisements, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it."
