Chapter 48: Chapter 47 - [Number One Player]
Su Ming’an once again confirmed that his attire was correct before frowning and stepping back half a step, "I’m just here to buy something."
"——Uh-huh!" Unexpectedly, the woman who heard his voice seemed to have finally confirmed something, her face brightened up instantaneously, "You buy! You buy! No, no, no, this sword... this whole stall is yours!" She immediately rolled up a long cloth, and with an attitude that brooked no refusal, stuffed the items into his arms, then deliberately tried to touch his arm, her voice filled with intense eagerness, "Could we... could we take a picture together? You just stand here, I’ll take a screenshot from the system bar."
Su Ming’an didn’t understand what she was excited about. Had she recognized him by his voice? Otherwise, she wouldn’t have known who he was.
Luckily, she hadn’t shouted out loud.
Su Ming’an opened the trade window and set a reasonably fair amount of points, "I calculated, and the price should be around 40 points, just click confirm, and I’ll transfer them to you."
"Oh, um, okay!" The woman’s face flushed, and at this moment she even forgot to refuse, just nodding her head like a pecking chicken.
[Trade successful! Points -40, Equipment acquired (Sword of Yarman), Prop acquired (Cold Shadow Stone), Prop acquired (Moonstone)]
[Sword of Yarman (Green Level, Damaged, Capable of Growth): This was his magnificent final strike
Attack Power: 5~13
Durability: 10/20
Equipment Requirement: One-Handed Weapon, Strength Requirement 4 and above
Special Attributes: Born in the Apocalyptic World as a damaged long sword, it once radiated endless light, awaiting the great one to repair it]
...
[Cold Shadow Stone/Moonstone: Forging props, better to hand them over to a Forging Master or someone similar than using them as marbles]
...
Su Ming’an put the items into his backpack, noticing that the woman was still staring at him, probably frantically taking screenshots.
"Keep the photos to yourself for now, at least don’t post them on the forums." Su Ming’an told her, not knowing how this woman had recognized him through the mask, but he definitely didn’t want this person leaking his whereabouts, as that would make it impossible to shop.
"Uh-huh!" The woman nodded frantically.
As Su Ming’an continued towards the center, he paid attention to the stalls. It seemed that the players were mainly selling things like "zombie bones" and "potion residues," which could be used to assist with forging and potion-making. There were also many people selling weapons, but these were mostly exchanges—trading swords for magic wands, magic wands for daggers, and so on.
True treasures, however, he saw none.
...I wonder when the Main God Space will open something like an auction house.
Suddenly, as he walked, he noticed something was off.
With every stall he passed, the stall owners kept staring at him, some even abruptly stood up, and some quickly opened their panels, unsure if they were chatting or taking screenshots.
Su Ming’an walked on, puzzled, even repeatedly touching his mask to make sure there was no leak—surely they couldn’t have recognized him just by the sight of his fingers... That would be too absurd.
However, as he continued walking and finally approached a crowded area of the plaza, entering many people’s field of view, countless eyes, "swoosh, swoosh, swoosh," swept over him.
The atmosphere around him seemed to suddenly become agitated.
Turning around somewhat bewilderedly, Su Ming’an suddenly saw those people, who were previously walking or trading, turn their heads towards him, their gazes visibly alight with fervor.
...This shouldn’t be happening.
Su Ming’an noticed that besides himself, there were plenty of others who had concealed their faces, but why were these people...
"——Holy crap! The Number One Player!"
"Where, where——damn! It really is!"
"Where’s my husband! Move aside people in front, don’t crowd my husband——"
Su Ming’an was stunned, thinking they were just shouting nonsensically. He was about to walk further into the crowd when suddenly a hand clutched his arm, and a girl with a ponytail began to scream wildly:
"Ahhh—I’ve touched my hubby! I’m never washing this hand again——"
"You are the lighthouse of my life, Ming’an — I will forever follow your beliefs —"
Su Ming’an hurriedly shook off her hand, still clueless about what had gone wrong — what had given him away?
"You’ve got the wrong person!" Su Ming’an yelled at the crowd that was almost ready to pounce on him.
"Su the Great God — I declare my admiration for you —!"
"A one in fifty thousand chance to meet Ming’an, I feel like I’ve used up all my luck for this lifetime —"
"Although it felt terrifying and awe-inspiring watching the livestream, up close he really isn’t intimidating, just makes me want to pinch and poke —"
"It’s definitely Ming’an! Damn, it’s so obvious!"
A dense crowd surged forward from a distance, resembling the sea churning on the plaza. Su Ming’an slowly backed away, leaning against the Rabbit Hot Springs boss until he stepped into a pool.
The world chat began to go crazy, a group of players sending messages and broadcasting the server’s location, and more and more players started appearing in every corner, shining with white light.
They only needed a brief search before their gazes locked firmly on him.
...To this day, Su Ming’an still didn’t know what had exposed him.
Only when he heard an excited shout from afar:
"—Holy shit! That’s the Number One Player, so damn obvious with that huge thing over his head!"
Su Ming’an’s expression stiffened a bit.
He pulled up the System Mirror, looked at himself and slowly moved it upwards.
...And then, he saw what was dangling over his head, like a game ID:
—[Number One Player]
Bright and golden, bigger than his own head, perched on top of his head like a giant light bulb.
...Turns out, he had been walking around the plaza with such a thing over his head from one end to the other.
He put away the System Mirror, his eyes suddenly turning cold as he saw the hands almost reaching him, and then he summoned his Cloning:
"—Come any closer, and I will kill you."
He deliberately lowered his voice, tone laced with a strong murderous intent which, in the Apocalyptic World, would likely have paralyzed a bunch of surviving players with fear.
...But these people didn’t seem scared at all; in fact, their expressions grew even more excited.
"Holy shit, this Cloning is exactly the same! Life-size, so cool!" a girl cried out, even trying to hug it again.
"It’s really so cute... I really can’t take him home, but can I take this one home?"
"You can’t tell from the livestream, but looking now he really doesn’t seem threatening — who said my Ming’an was heartless and cruel! I’m a fan from today!"
Su Ming’an felt utterly baffled.
He looked puzzledly at this group of excited players, not understanding their mentality of treating it as sheer entertainment despite still being in a life-and-death game — if they were Light Pursuers chasing after a lighthouse, their demeanor was too weak; if these were "not suited for the game" people, their enthusiasm and love moved him.
Zhai Xing was still under the control of a High Dimensional organism, everyone was in such a dangerous situation — what exactly were they happy about?
...These people, what category should they belong to? He was puzzled.
Only when he had his Cloning raise the blood-stained fire axe did the crowd finally quieten.
He had the Cloning hold the axe in place while he slowly retreated until he could retreat no more, standing still in the middle of the pool, leaning against the statue of Rabbit Hot Springs boss.
You’re not allowed to fight in the Main God World, he had checked the rules carefully, this standoff couldn’t continue, he had to think of a way out.
After pondering for a moment, he let his Cloning turn around, pick up the bloodied fire axe, pose for a moment, and then he struck directly at the statue of the Rabbit Hot Springs boss —
