Chapter 79: All Are Cunning
Chapter 79: All Are Cunning
the air is thick with tension
It is like if anything changes, this place would be a place of death.
Aeryon look at Belarion and nodded
Belarion, understanding the unspoken command, sheathed his sword and nodded in response.
The tension that had filled the air began to dissipate, replaced by an uneasy calm.
Belarion let out a sharp whistle, the sound pierced through the atmosphere, drawing the attention of his horse.
The majestic animal approached; its gaze fixed on its master.
With a swift motion, Belarion effortlessly vaulted back onto the saddle
As he sat astride his mount, Belarion cast a disdainful glance toward the group of fifty men. His voice carried a mixture of disappointment and mild amusement as he addressed them.
"Like a mantis trying to stop a boulder," he scoffed, his words filled with a touch of condescension.
The analogy conveyed the futility of their attempts to resist the overwhelming force he had brought with him.
His words hung in the air for a moment, serving as a reminder of the vast difference in power between their forces.
As the one thousand horse riders behind Belarion glanced at the fifty men of the Utgard tribe, seated atop their majestic steeds, their gazes were filled with a mocking smile.
It was a smile that exuded arrogance and superiority, as if they considered the Utgard warriors beneath their notice.
Their collective demeanour conveyed a sense of unwavering confidence, born out of the sheer numerical advantage they possessed.
Mounted high on their horses, their elevated vantage point seemed to amplify their disdain for the comparatively smaller group of Utgard warriors.
The arrogant smiles painted across their faces conveyed a clear message: they considered the Utgard warriors to be inconsequential, a mere nuisance that could be easily brushed aside.
It was a display of contempt and superiority, a visual representation of their unwavering confidence in their own strength.
However, beneath the surface of their haughty smiles, the Utgard warriors could sense the latent threat and the simmering tension in the air.
They understood that behind those mocking expressions lay a formidable force, one that should not be underestimated
Waqu did not like being mocked like this. It is different from what he imagined. His brother was mistaken and he was also mistaken
They thought they could supress Aeryon, underestimating him because of what they saw before. But they have made a mistake
Even he has to bow down to reality
Waqu mind raced with conflicting thoughts and suspicions as he witnessed the tense standoff between the Utgard warriors and Aeryon formidable cavalry before
"Could it be.." but he did not dare put his thoughts into words
The mocking smiles and the potential eruption of violence only served to deepen his concerns.
He couldn’t shake off the nagging feeling that Aeryon may have orchestrated this situation deliberately, seeking to provoke a confrontation and find a reason to punish the Utgard tribe.
The possibility that Aeryon had planned for such a breakdown in negotiations weighed heavily on Waqu mind.
He contemplated whether Aeryon had been intentionally pushing for conflict all along, regardless of any actions or words from the Utgard tribe.
It seemed as though Aeryon wanted an excuse to chastise and subdue them, exploiting any perceived disrespect or aggression.
However, despite his suspicions, Waqu realized the perilous position they were in.
If he were to voice his doubts or reveal his suspicions about Aeryon intentions, it would likely lead to an outright battle between the fifty Utgard warriors and the overwhelming force of Aeryon thousand horse riders.
The outcome would be certain, and it would not favour the Utgard tribe.
They would be outnumbered, outmatched, and ultimately buried beneath the weight of their own folly.
Recognizing the grim reality of their situation, Waqu knew that maintaining silence was their only viable option.
Regardless of any potential manipulations or hidden agendas, it was clear that engaging in a direct confrontation with Aeryon forces would spell disaster for the Utgard tribe.
The moment when his men unsheathed their sword before, Waqu could already see that the one thousand horse riders of the Brolgadhr were all ready to charge into the area.
If the one thousand horse riders of the Brolgadhr tribe were to charge towards the fifty men of the Utgard tribe, the outcome would be overwhelmingly one-sided and disastrous for the smaller group.
The sheer difference in numbers and the mounted advantage of Aeryon forces would quickly tip the scales in their favor.
He could already imagine how such battle would unfold. The thousand horse riders thundered forward, their horses’ hooves pounding the ground, a wave of chaos and violence would be unleashed.
The sheer speed and momentum of the cavalry charge would be overwhelming, with their trained horses galloping at full force, trampling anything in their path.
The fifty Utgard warriors, despite their bravery and skill, would be vastly outnumbered and outmatched.
Their weapons, though sharp and lethal, would struggle to fend off the onslaught of mounted opponents.
The horse riders, armed with sabres, spears, and the advantage of height and mobility, would rain down blows upon the Utgard warriors from above, exploiting their vulnerability and lack of proper defense.
The clash between the two forces would be swift and brutal.
The horse riders would use their speed and manoeuvrability to encircle the Utgard warriors, attacking from all sides, disrupting their formation, and preventing them from effectively retaliating.
The sheer force of the charging horses would knock some of the Utgard warriors to the ground, leaving them vulnerable to further attacks.
Under the relentless assault, the fifty Utgard warriors would quickly find themselves overwhelmed.
Their numbers would dwindle rapidly as they fell one by one under the combined onslaught of swords, spears, and trampling hooves.
Their valiant resistance would prove futile against the overwhelming might and strategy of the Brolgadhr tribe.
In a matter of moments, the battle would reach its grim conclusion.
The Utgard warriors, outnumbered and outmatched, would be defeated, their lives extinguished on the battlefield.
The remnants of their resistance would be scattered and broken, left in the wake of Aeryon unstoppable force.
Recognizing the grim reality of the situation, Waqu timely intervention had prevented such a catastrophic clash from unfolding.
As Waqu gazes at Aeryon, a sense of fear rises within him.
The young chief’s calm demeanour throughout the entire encounter, even in the face of potential conflict, leaves Waqu in awe and trepidation.
Aeryon silence speaks volumes, conveying a level of power and control that surpasses Waqu expectations.
In that pivotal moment when a battle seemed imminent, Aeryon mere glance had nearly sparked the eruption of violence and the loss of fifty lives.
His ability to incite and defuse the situation with such ease is a testament to his influence and authority.
Aeryon actions have completely shifted the power dynamics, turning the tables on Waqu and Garron’s attempts at intimidation.
Waqu now realizes the gravity of his misjudgement regarding Aeryon.
The young chief’s display of power, the way he effortlessly controls his subordinates with a single nod, has shattered any preconceived notions Waqu had about him.
In this moment of realization, Waqu recognizes that he and Garron have underestimated Aeryon.
They had intended to intimidate him, yet it is he who find himself intimidated by his formidable presence.
Aeryon silent strength and his ability to manipulate the situation without uttering a single word leaves Waqu humbled and aware of the consequences of underestimating an opponent.
It is a humbling lesson for Waqu, reminding him that appearances can be deceiving
One nod and it is enough to control his subordinate.
Waqu knows now that he had made a wrong evaluation about Aeryon.
"And my brother is also mistaken"
and the moment he thought of this he frowned.
As Aeryon proceeds forward, Waqu swiftly commands one of his warriors to accompany and guide him.
Meanwhile, Aeryon one thousand warriors remain stationed outside the encampment, patiently waiting.
As he walks, he looks to his left and right
The encampment stretches over a considerable area, showcasing signs of organization and planning.
Paths and roads meander through the camp, connecting various sections and leading towards the central point where Garron’s tent stands.
The tents, numbering a few dozen, are scattered throughout the encampment, housing the fifty warriors of the Utgard tribe.
They serve as both shelters
The surroundings of the camp are marked by a mixture of natural elements and makeshift arrangements.
The ground, although dirty and untidy, bears the footprints and traces of the recent assembly of warriors.
There are no extravagant decorations or embellishments in the camp; rather, it exudes an atmosphere of practicality and urgency, reflective of the hastily built nature of the encampment.
As Aeryon and the escorting warrior traverse the camp towards Garron’s tent, the distance may not be significant, but the sheer size of the encampment necessitates a moderate amount of time to reach their destination.
Aeryon laughed as he walks toward the tent of his future father-in-law. As he walks, he looks at his left and right and then said aloud, "I feel awkward when I’m being escorted like this. I prefer to meet my father-in-law alone."
Waqu nodded and dismisses the escort
Waqu now clearly fearing another conflict could pop out and break this negotiation escorted Aeryon and walk beside him while making small talk.
He treated those guards like nothing, like the grass on the ground.
A demeanour of an overlord overseeing the subordinate tent. This is the thought of Waqu
As he looks at the back of that young chief Waqu could not help but thought of something
"this young man is even cunning than my sworn brother...Garron this would not be easy" he thought to himself.
