Chapter 52: The Face Behind the Silk Veil

Chapter 52: The Face Behind the Silk Veil

Time seemed to slow down as Aeryon instincts kicked in.

His body tensed; muscles coiled like a predator ready to strike.

His mind raced, evaluating his options.

With a surge of adrenaline, he instinctively moved to evade the incoming threat. The world around him suddenly became a vivid tableau of details.

The wind brushed against his face, carrying the faint scent of grass and the promise of impending danger.

Blades of golden grass swayed in unison, dancing to an unseen rhythm.

The sunlight painted the landscape in vibrant hues, casting long shadows that stretched across the ground.

Dust particles hung suspended in the air, catching the light and adding an ethereal quality to the scene.

In that moment, Aeryon senses seems to went into an overdrive.

Aeryon eyes locked onto the stranger, the gaze filled with determination and a glimmer of defiance.

"A woman" he deduced

He could see the focused intensity in the stranger eyes, her unwavering aim fixed upon him.

Time seemed to stand still as the tension built, the atmosphere electrified with anticipation.

In the blink of an eye, the bowstring twanged, releasing the arrow with deadly precision. Aeryon heart pounded in his chest as he braced himself for the impact.

His senses sharpened, capturing every minute detail—the whistling sound of the arrow cutting through the air, the glint of sunlight reflecting off its razor-sharp tip, and the rush of wind as it passed by his ear.

With a swift movement, Aeryon instinctively shifted his body, narrowly evading the deadly projectile.

Whizz!

The arrow whizzed past him, grazing the edge of his clothing, leaving a trail of displaced air in its wake.

He felt the adrenaline surge through his veins, heightening his senses and sharpening his focus.

As the arrow sailed into the distance, Aeryon eyes locked onto the assailant.

Tak!

The arrow pierced the ground easily.

"A strong attack" he thought to himself. If that arrow shot him straight at his chest , he would be surely heavily injured.

"Hmm" he thought to himself.

He could see that in the eyes of this person, there is a mix of caution, curiosity, and a flicker of defiance danced within the gaze.

"A woman" Now that she seems to be closer, Aeryon is even more convinced of his deduction.

Though her lower face was concealed by a silk veil, he could discern the outline of her features, her long hair cascading in waves down her back, and the contours of her chest heaving with the intensity of the moment.

The tension between them hung heavy in the air, like a charged storm waiting to unleash its fury.

Aeryon grip tightened around the hilt of his sword as he prepared for the imminent clash.

With a swift motion, he unsheathed his weapon, its gleaming blade catching the sunlight and reflecting his unwavering resolve.

In response, the woman swiftly drew forth a spear, the weapon poised and ready for battle. Her voice rang out, carrying a blend of challenge and determination. "Let me test the famed Chief of Brolgadhr and see if he truly lives up to his reputation!"

Aeryon lips curled into a wry smile, his eyes alight with a glimmer of amusement amidst the intensity of the moment.

He doesn’t know who this woman is. But his mind reach to one conclusion

"Is this foreplay of the woman of the Great Steppe?" he thought to himself.

The horses neighed, and rushed towards him. Aeryon knows he could not get to his horse before this woman so he simply kicks the ground.

"It would not be that easy" Aeryon had learned a lot during the battles he encountered.

Even though right now he does not have the invincibility buff, what those few days of fighting against hundreds of men alone, had given him confidence and familiarity in being a battle

Nothing beats experiencing things like that for yourself.

He kicks the solid ground

BOOOM!

The ground exploded and the soil rise sup into the air. Aeryon felt a surge of power coursed through his muscles, propelling him forward with the force of a cannon being unleashed.

The grass beneath him swayed in response to the sheer velocity of his movement.

The air exploded and the space seems to be pressured by some powerful force

Aeryon body became a blur, hurtling through the distance like lightning

In that fleeting moment, the woman’s spear ascended, aimed with precision, and hurtled towards its intended target.

The wind blows and the grass sways and Aeryon had already arrived in front of the horse. The momentum of the horse cut short; the distance is only two feet from each other

The spear could reach him and the sword could reach her.

His hand moves and the sword arced through the air, meeting the spearhead with a resounding clash that echoed through the area.

The moment it hit, Aeryon smiles

Sparks erupted from the collision, illuminating the intensity of their clash as metal met metal in a battle of skill and strength.

In the fraction of a second, the outcome was decided. A shattered metal spiral up into the air.

The force of his strike had cut off the spear.

Aeryon possesses the power of eleven men. And in that strike, it was like eleven men uses their force to cut something. Stacked their strength and slashes with all of their power

What chance does that spear have?

The sheer power behind that blow forces the spear to be removed from that woman hand, the area around the hand le of that spear was cut off cleanly.

The swift cut of his sword cleaved through the spear, effortlessly severing its sturdy frame like a hot knife slicing through butter.

The woman, caught off guard by the sudden reversal, was forcibly thrown backward, hurtling through the air

Aeryon leaped into the air, swiftly closing the distance between them.

With a swift and fluid motion, he wrapped his arms around the woman’s frame, holding her securely.

The wind whistled around him as he descended on the ground

Crack!

The ground cracked; the sound of the spear fragment echoes as it falls into the ground. The horse neighed and run off to the other side before stopping not far away from the battle.

The woman struggles but how could that woman withstand the mighty power that Aeryon unleashed.

Even the strength of a few men could bring down a normal man. What more her. This woman strength has always lied in her agility.

Now, she is using her weakness against his strength. The conclusions has been written the moment she could not pierce Aeryon body

He carry her down like a princess carry and as she tries to get down, Aeryon make sure that she could not push his hand down

She tries to punch him but Aeryon grabs her back and her body was pulled. Each time she tries, he would pull, making the punches could not even reaching his face or any part of his body.

It took a full minute before she finally give up resistance.

She looks at him and he looks at her. There is a playful smile on his face and a chuckle that sometimes escaped his mouth

"It’s our first-time meeting. And you greet me with a spear? Is this the sincerity of the Utgard?"

Aeryon guessed that this woman is none other than Ayera the Daughter of Garron.

But the woman did not respond.

"Let me see the famed beauty" Aeryon returned back her words with a slight variation.

Aeryon reached out and grasped the fabric that concealed her features.

With a harsh tug, the delicate silk veil tore apart, fluttering through the air before landing on the ground

As the veil was torn, Aeryon eyes fell upon the woman’s unveiled face, and a momentary silence enveloped them both.

Time seemed to stand still as he took in her beauty, his breath momentarily stolen by her exquisite features.

Her countenance held a touch of exotic allure, a captivating quality that was both mesmerizing and alluring.

"Beautiful," Aeryon muttered, his words escaping his lips unconsciously.

The woman’s face, like a work of art, radiated a timeless charm that spoke of hidden stories and untold adventures.

Aeryon gaze lingered upon the woman in this unfamiliar era, his eyes filled with both curiosity and admiration.

"what a beauty" he thought to himself.

In his own tribe, the harsh winds and relentless sands of the Steppe had weathered the faces of the women, leaving them bereft of the allure often associated with beauty.

But the woman in his arms now seemed to defy this norm, her radiance surpassing that of any he had known.

Aeryon face inched closer to hers like he was studying her, his eyes tracing the contours of her face.

It was then that he noticed her mesmerizing green eyes, framed delicately by long, fluttering lashes.

Her dark tresses cascaded down her back in graceful waves, an enchanting sight to behold.

her complexion truly captivated him.

Smooth and flawless, her skin bore no trace of the rugged environment that surrounded the tribes of the Great Steppe.

Instead, it glowed with a natural vitality, enhanced by a subtle flush adorning her cheeks.

Aeryon couldn’t help but be drawn to her, the contrast between her ethereal beauty and the harsh reality of their surroundings only serving to deepen his fascination.

"you are truly as beautiful as the rumours" he said and Ayera finally spoke

"And you are as powerful as the stories make you to be" Aeryon only chuckles at this as he let her go.
