Aeryon was surprised. Not that he did not expect Burchu could not defeat Ota but it was that timeframe that shock him

He is of course optimistic about Burchu but three years is too short. What makes him so confident that he could easily surpass Ota in three years?

It is not like Burchu has a system like him.

Ota is a warrior that is compared to Belarion.

And this comparison is not a false comparison.
