Way of Overlord -
Chapter 135: Handing In
Chapter 135: Handing In
The significance of the Tripartite alliance was not lost on those who recognized the evolving dynamics on the Southern Great Steppe.
For those who failed to perceive its benefits, the impending danger posed by this union might be equally elusive.
The Chagai tribe had already established an alliance with the formidable Brolgadhr tribe, solidifying their position as a potent force in the region.
With the formation of the Cha-Ner-Ul Alliance, the Chagai tribe could now muster the strength of over twenty thousand men or possibly more if they decided to combine their forces.
This burgeoning power signalled an impending shift in the balance of authority on the Southern Great Steppe.
It is evident that, when the harsh winter subsided, the Chagai tribe would launch a north-westward campaign aimed at the Haltur tribe.
Such an endeavour would serve as the foundation for Chagai tribe ambitions to rival the Brolgadhr tribe for supremacy in the western territories.
The tribes that failed to recognize the significance of this alliance might soon find themselves facing a united front of unprecedented strength, with Chagai tribe at the forefront, ready to reshape the region to their likings.
Who would be the Overlord that would control the west of the Southern Great Steppe?
The newfound alliance between the Ultar, Chagai, and Nergui tribes is a game-changer in the Southern Great Steppe.
Each of these three tribe could now breathe a little easier, free from the constant threat of aggression from their erstwhile neighbours.
The Nergui tribe, once beset by the fear of Ultar attacks, could now consider expanding their influence to the west or east, unburdened by the immediate menace of their powerful neighbours.
This strategic shift allowed them to focus on their territorial ambitions.
Meanwhile, Ulfric, the chief of the Ultar tribe, could now concentrate his efforts on the impending invasion of the Nogai tribe without being overly concerned about threats from other directions.
Among the various tribes that populated the vast expanse of the Southern Great Steppe, this alliance was now widely recognized as the "Alliance of the Three Tribes," consisting of the Ultar, Chagai, and Nergui tribes.
Its emergence had far-reaching implications for the region, setting the stage for a new period of warfare that would surely unfold
The Southern Great Steppe is now undergoing a profound transformation.
On the map, the once-scattered small tribes is gradually vanishing, replaced by larger and more powerful entities.
This is the era of land consolidation, a period defined by the unification of territories.
For centuries, the Great Steppe had remained fragmented, divided among various tribes.
But now, there is a growing trend towards unity.
All of the tribes that have enough power is expanding their territories, absorbing neighbouring lands
It is like dominoes falling.
Aeryon actions had acted as a catalyst, setting this transformative process in motion.
War, in particular, had accelerated the pace of change.
Everything is evolving swiftly, and the Southern Great Steppe is now witnessing a rapid and monumental shift in its power landscape.
And then it is in this charged situation, that the winter wind blows and the snow falls.
As the winter winds howled and the snow blanketed the Southern Great Steppe, a temporary calm settled over the land.
War paused, and people retreated into their tents, seeking refuge from the biting cold. Survival became the primary focus during these harsh months.
But when the winter ends there will be the inevitable resumption of conflict.
When the snow melted and the land thawed, war would return with a newfound intensity.
The stage is set for a different kind of warfare—one where large tribes were consolidating power while smaller ones faced extinction.
The era of unification had arrived, and the question on everyone’s mind was, who would emerge as the unifier?
Who would be the unifier?
Who would be the Overlord of the Southern Great Steppe?
Who would be the greatest of them all?
And who in the end would have the last laugh?
The laughter of the Heavens travel to the mortal realm
Who wins and who lose, only the Heavens knows!
The stakes is high, and the ultimate victor remained uncertain.
...
Aeryon emerged from his tent into the biting cold of the winter morning. His breath formed frosty plumes in the frigid air.
Ayera, still slept soundly, undisturbed by the chill.
"That woman...." He sighed an close his eyes for a moment and could only shake his head. He decided to think of something else
It had been a month since Aeryon and his fierce warriors ventured westward, swiftly subjugating the tribes in their path.
He had returned to the Brolgadhr tribe two weeks ago, victorious and laden with the spoils of conquest.
Aeryon tribe now stood as one of the most dominant forces in the lower region of the Southern Great Steppe.
The Brolgadhr tribe had grown into a formidable entity under his leadership.
And everyone in his tribe is happy even in winter because of the many spoils that they hd.
The cold may have gripped the land, but the fire of ambition and expansion burned fiercely in Aeryon heart.
In the month that followed their victorious conquest, numerous clans and small tribes, realizing they couldn’t survive on their own, had willingly joined Aeryon expanding tribe.
The influx of new members added to the vibrancy of his growing domain.
As he surveyed his surroundings, Aeryon couldn’t help but ponder the situation.
"This place is hardly conducive for calming oneself," he mused.
Ayera, his ever-present wife, remained by his side.
Yet, beneath the veneer of their marital facade, a secret lurked. A secret that must never see the light of day.
"This marriage," he reminded himself, "is a political alliance, not one of love."
He knew all too well that Ayera, the daughter of the Viper, could be a double-edged sword.
If she were to uncover his hidden truth, Aeryon suspected she would readily betray him to her father.
Deciding he needed a change of scenery, he made his way toward another tent.
An attentive guard moved to accompany him, but Aeryon’ subtle gesture silenced the would-be escort.
A sly smile played upon Aeryon lips as he drew nearer to the chosen tent.
He had meticulously arranged his camp, ensuring that several tents surrounded his central quarters.
Each had a designated purpose, some housing vital supplies, while others served as decoys, strategically placed to obscure his true location.
As he stepped into one of these unassuming tents, Aeryon let out a sigh of relief.
Inside, a simple chair awaited him.
He settled into it, a sense of security washing over him as he knew he was now safely tucked away from prying eyes.
Here, he could collect his thoughts and guard the secret that lay heavy on his shoulders.
"I think I could complete the quest now"
"Open quest"
And the moment he thought of this in his mind, there is something that popped out of nowhere
A holographic screen that only he could see appears in front of his face.

[Do you want to hand in the quest?]
The moment the system said this, Aeryon chuckles a bit
"Finally, I could hand in this quest" he thought to himself.
He had been waiting for this day for too long.
"Hand it in" he thought to himself
And then he checks his reward.
As Aeryon examined the resource cards, his excitement waned.
It seemed that, once again, fate had dealt him a hand of familiar resources.
The cards revealed the same types of provisions, materials, and livestock that he had acquired in the past.
It is a bit disappointing, considering the anticipation he had built up.
Nonetheless, Aeryon knew better than to dwell on minor setbacks.
He got ten random resource cards.
"It is more of the same" he muttered to himself.
He got [Stone Resource Card x4] [Wood Supply Card x2] [Meat Supply Card x2] and [Meteorite Iron Card x2 ]
"The meat supply card is a good card to have" he thought to himself.
Aeryon had learned to be resourceful with the cards he received. After all he didn’t know when he will get it again.
He could always ask for new quest but sometimes, it does take some time for him to complete such quest.
It isn’t until he has such experience he knows how hard it is. In book and stories, he reads, it felt like a game.
And it does feel like a game sometimes.
After all, there is quest and rewards.
But in games, you, yourself, the player don’t get tired. The character in the game got tired but the you that play the game is not.
In this world however, Aeryon does feel tired. And he does feel bored.
There is difference between being the player that controls the character and becoming the character itself.
Reality mixed with a bit of surrealness. That is the best way he could describe his predicament.
So, most of the time, he only choose one quest to do and that is also the quest that would net him the most reward.
