Chapter 115: Oath is Fulfilled
"What the hell?"
In a split-second decision, Aeryon removed his sword, relinquishing the advantage he had gained.
Gasps of surprise rippled through the onlookers; their confusion evident as they questioned the wisdom of such a move.
Why would Aeryon give Durka a chance to counterattack?
But what followed was a revelation that left everyone in awe.
Aeryon, despite his apparent vulnerability was not taken advantage of
And Durka remained motionless.
His eyes, though open, is fixed on Aeryon with the same fierceness that had driven him throughout the duel.
And everyone understood in that moment what happen to Durka
He lost his consciousness. And he might be dying right now. Aeryon made that split second decision to quickly alleviate the weight because he fears that he would kill Durka.
Even now, he is unsure whether Durka whether he is unconscious or is he dying?
Even in a state of unconsciousness, Durka warrior spirit endured, unyielding and unbroken.
Aeryon couldn’t help but feel a profound respect for Durka unshakeable resolve.
"if all my warriors is like this, the whole world could be conquered!" he muttered to himself
Durka had fought to the limits of his strength, risking everything for his pride and honour. It is an act that spoke volumes about the character of the man before him.
"What a great warrior," Aeryon thought to himself, his admiration evident in his expression.
Durka unwavering dedication and indomitable spirit left an indelible impression on him.
This is the kind of stuff you could only learn during a battle between two warriors.
For artist, the stage is where their self could be found. Then for a warrior, the battlefield is where they learn about themselves
And today battlefield bore witness to not only a duel of strength but also an embodiment of the warrior’s ethos.
The battlefield seemed to resonate with the profound silence that followed—a tribute to the warrior who had left his mark on history.
Aeryon sighed and look at the Ashana on the side.
"Declare the winner!"
The Ashana nodded.
"the winner is Chief Aeryon of Brolgadhr"
Usually, such declaration would come with a cheer but right now, everyone is still shocked about what happened that no one cheer. Aeryon himself did not feel like cheering.
Without delay, Aeryon sheathed his sword and hurried to Durka side.
The old warrior lay there, still and unconscious, his body bearing the scars of the fierce battle they had just fought.
Aeryon knelt down and placed his hand on Durka wrist, feeling for his pulse.
Relief washed over him when he confirmed that Durka was alive, albeit in a state of unconsciousness
Only after feeling the pulse, he heaved a sigh of relief.
"Take back your Chief., he is still alive" hearing this the people of Duhai tribe finally felt a little bit better.
And Aeryon felt the same way. He had just found the right person to recruit as a general. He does not want to lose such a talent.
Aeryon then ask his warriors to bring Durka to his tent and tends toward him. The people of Duhai tribe was surprised that Aeryon really did keep his words.
Not one person in the Duhai tribe is harmed and none of their livestock is stolen. No man or women is kidnapped.
There is a certain disciplined that Aeryon has tried to cultivate. And while the warriors under him is not yet fully disciplined, they also know the temper of Aeryon. He had said before they attacked this tribe, that unless allowed, they were not allowed to pillage and burn, kill and destroy.
And Aeryon words is deterrent enough.
Durka sons and relatives carefully carried him back to his tent, their faces filled with concern and worry.
The Ashana, with her healing expertise, followed closely behind, ready to tend to the wounded warrior.
The atmosphere in the tent was sombre, as the Duhai tribe people outside anxiously awaited news of their chief’s condition.
Aeryon on the other hand look around the tribe. He look at them and then he spoke
"Today, Durka loses. He spoke the oath. He promise me that if he loses, the Duhai tribe would become the sword and shield of the Brolgadhr. This is his oath? And this oath is witnessed by Heaven, Earth and People. He had listened and he had said that he will obey the will of destiny and fate. The oath is sealed" he paused for a moment before saying
"Does anyone want to break it?"
He look and he ask the tribe. The entire tribe had heard the proclamation of the oath.
’We obey the will of destiny and fate" one of the warriors said.
"Kneel before me and pledge your allegiance" he shouted, his voice echoes all over the settlement.
As the air crackled with tension, Aeryon one thousand horse riders, their hands poised over their swords, a palpable energy rippling through the crowd.
One thousand horse riders had their hands on their sword and arms, ready to pull it out in a moment notice.
There is always a possibility that the Duhai tribe would renege on this promise and attack him and his men
Yet, he remained composed, unwavering in his resolve. The moment hung in the balance, each passing second feeling like an eternity.
Then, as if a single spark ignited a blazing fire, one person knelt before Aeryon.
It is a moment that shifted the course of destiny.
One act of loyalty, one declaration of allegiance, and like a ripple in a vast ocean, the domino effect began.
Another person knelt, and then another, until a wave of reverence swept through the tribe.
In swift succession, the once defiant warriors humbled themselves, followed by the elderly and the youth, all drawn to their knees before their newly affirmed leader.
They bow their heads, their hands on their right chest
The scene was nothing short of grand, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the assembly.
"We pledge loyalty to Chief Aeryon of Brolgadhr" one man spoke it and hundred men echoes the word
Aeryon smiles
"And the oath is fulfilled" he shouted. And only then that these people rise up again.
Aeryon leaped onto the back of his horse, a surge of adrenaline coursed through his veins.
He smiles
This is the first time he felt what it is like to conquer such a tribe. The tribe he had conquered before, he conquered with the Invincibility Card.
It did not feel like it is his own achievement
But this....this is his
This victory are his.
"Hyargh" he kicked the side of his horse and ride into the settlement. Behind him, he is followed closely by his one thousand horse riders.
As they ride into the settlement, a cloud of dust rose in their wake, painting the air with a hazy golden hue.
The ground beneath their hooves trembled with the combined force of their galloping.
The sight of the united riders is a force to be reckoned with.
The people of the Duhai tribe watched in awe as the imposing cavalry swept into their territory, a formidable display of strength and power.
They now stood humbled
The dust settled and the conclusion has been reached
With a sense of swiftness and precision, Aeryon and his warriors swiftly entered the settlement.
The air was heavy with tension, but the moment Aeryon had defeated Durka, the Duhai tribe had already accepted their place under the banner of Brolgadhr.
The oath, witnessed by all, had sealed their fate.
Yet, amidst this apparent victory, Aeryon heart is heavy with concern for Durka.
The triumph felt bittersweet, for to him, the true sword and shield of the Duhai tribe had always been Durka.
He wanted that man
As he rode through the settlement, he offered a silent prayer, hoping that the courageous warrior had not succumbed to his injuries.
In Aeryon heart, Durka’s worth surpassed that of a mere tribe.
His potential as a leader and ally was far greater, and he yearned for Durka to recover, to stand by his side in the battles that lay ahead.
The Brolgadhr tribe had gained another tribe under their wing, but Aeryon understood that this was just the beginning of a long journey.
In the horizon, the sun dipped lower, casting a warm glow over the scene—a symbol of the dawn of a new era for both tribes.
....
His consciousness began to stir
That is what he felt
And then he tries to move. But the action felt so heavy that he stopped trying. So, he tries to open his eyelid and he could feel the weight of his heavy eyelids
But he felt it is not as hard as trying to move the body.
With a great effort, he tried to open his eyes, but his vision was blurred, and he couldn’t make out his surroundings.
It was as if he is emerging from a deep, dreamless slumber.
As he blinked and squinted, the world slowly came into focus.
Shapes and shadows formed before him, and the soft glow of a flickering lamp danced on the walls.
The air is filled with a mix of herbal scents, a comforting aroma that hinted at the presence of a healer.
With every passing moment, clarity returned to his vision, and he realized he is lying on a simple cot inside a spacious tent.
The dim light revealed the kind faces of the Ashana and a few of his sons and relatives standing around him, concern etched on their features.
As he moved to sit up, he felt a dull ache in his body, and he winced.
The memory of the fierce battle flashed before him, and he recalled the overpowering force of Aeryon sword.
"I lost" he muttered
