Chapter 111: Two Warriors
Every movement exuded a quiet confidence
His gaze remained focused, unwavering, as he advanced towards the center of the ring, fully embracing the gravity of the moment.
Not everybody could feel it but pure warriors could feel it. As he walks, there is a momentum in each step and as more and more step is taken, his strength seems to double.
Aeryon has many tricks under his sleeve and he has many skills he could use.
And then a sound echoes all over the settlement
HOUH!
HOUH!
HOUH!
The roars of the Brolgadhr tribe warriors echoes loud and clear, their voice sounded like thunder, reverberating across the area.
The sun is in the position of late afternoon. The entire tribe of Duhai felt like they were being intimidated.
The horse riders of the Brolgadhr tribe stand around the entrance of the Duhai tribe, and their numbers is enough to create a line formation that cover the entire entrance gate from one end to the other
From the opposite side of the fighting ring, Durka emerged, a commanding figure in his own right.
Towering over others, his formidable presence demanded attention and respect. Clad in his war armor, which seemed to gleam in the late afternoon light, Durka exuded an aura of strength and authority.
In his hands, he wielded a formidable halberd, a weapon befitting his stature and prowess.
A symbol of his martial skill and experience.
Its gleaming blade glistened, ready to deliver devastating strikes upon his opponents. The shaft, crafted from steel, offered a firm grip for Durka hands, allowing him to maneuver the weapon with precision and power.
As Durka held the halberd, his muscular frame was accentuated, his well-defined muscles evident beneath the weight of his armor.
His broad shoulders and tall stature lent an imposing air to his figure, emphasizing his commanding presence
As Durka approached the center of the fighting ring, his grip on the halberd tightened, displaying a familiarity and comfort with the weapon
An Ashana stood on the side and then she look to Durka. She muttered incantation, some fo the words seems to invoke the name of the Skyfather and the Earth Mother.
"Lose, and the Duhai tribe would become the sword and shield of the Brolgadhr. This is your oath?"
Durka nodded.
"Today, your oath is witnessed by Heaven, Earth and People. Break it and the Gods will punish you and upon you the greatest curse"
Durka nodded
"I listen and I obey by the will of destiny and fate" he mutters. The Ashana nodded and then she looks at the sky
"And so, the oath is sealed"
The people of the Duhai tribe went silent. Then the Ashana turns to Aeryon
"Chief of the Brolgadhr tribe, Aeryon the Son of Rakarys" Aeryon nodded
Lose, and in your lifetime, you will never again come here to this land and have design on the Duhai tribe. This is your oath?"
Aeryon nodded.
"Today, your oath is witnessed by Heaven, Earth and People. Break it and the Gods will punish you and upon you the greatest curse"
Aeryon nodded and then he spoke the same words
"I listen and I obey by the will of destiny and fate" he mutters. The Ashana nodded and then once again she looks at the sky
"And so, the oath is sealed"
And the warriors that Aeryon brought also went silent. The Ashana then said
"let the duel begins" she shouted
....
Aeryon and Durka locked eyes, their gazes penetrating deep into the hidden recesses of their adversaries’ souls.
Though outwardly motionless, their minds engaged in a fierce mental combat, each envisioning the vulnerabilities and unseen angles from which they could launch their attacks.
Silence enveloped the space between them, a palpable tension crackling in the air.
Two warriors of equal stature poised on the precipice of conflict, their impending clash promised both beauty and peril.
With a subtle shift to the left, Aeryon betrayed the slightest hint of movement, prompting Durka to respond in kind.
To the untrained eye, these minute adjustments might appear insignificant, mere posturing without action.
Yet, to these two seasoned warriors, it was an unspoken understanding that even the slightest maneuvers could shape the ebb and flow of the imminent battle.
As the wind whispered through the surrounding landscape, and the birds serenaded the air with their melodic chorus, the grass danced to the rhythm of nature’s gentle sway.
The passing of time felt both infinite and fleeting, for in this pivotal juncture, much hung in the balance.
A single momentary lapse in judgment could set forth a chain reaction of irreversible consequences.
Neither Aeryon nor Durka desired to make the slightest error.
Aeryon hand instinctively found solace on the hilt of his sword, poised to unsheathe it at a moment’s notice. Yet, despite the mounting tension, he resisted the temptation, choosing restraint over impulsive action.
Though Durka possessed the physical advantage of height, standing tall at around six feet in the expanse of the Great Steppe where most men reached a mere five feet, he refrained from initiating any action.
His halberd, a weapon of considerable reach and power, hung at his side, its potential energy restrained.
In this tense standoff, both warriors resisted the allure of their respective weapons.
Aeryon with his sword and Durka with his halberd remained motionless, their discipline and composure overriding the urge to strike.
The unyielding stillness between them intensified, like a coiled spring ready to be unleashed, yet held back by the unwavering resolve of these two warriors.
In an instant, the dynamics shifted.
"Ssis!"
The howling wind pierced their ears, a chilling reminder of the tempest brewing in their midst.
"Shing!"
The resounding echo of a sword unsheathed reverberated through the expanse, cutting through the air with a steely determination.
"Swoosh!"
The mighty swing of Durka halberd cleaved through the wind, its path a blur of deadly precision.
With these unmistakable sounds, the battle commenced!
...
The sword and the halberd make their moves and the wind howled and the grass were cut, the sword light flew and the halberd cut everything on its path
the sword and halberd danced with an ethereal grace, each move like a symphony of deadly beauty.
the sword light and halberd’s edge left trails of brilliance in their wake.
A symphony of clashing metal echoed through the air, and a dazzling spark of fire erupted where the sword and halberd met.
The spectators gasped in awe at the breath taking spectacle before them. "What a beautiful fight!" some of them marvelled, unable to tear their eyes away from the captivating contest of skill and power.
In that fleeting moment, when the sword and halberd locked in a titanic struggle, Aeryon eyes shut tight, attuned to every sensation coursing through his hands.
As the force threatened to rend his sword asunder, he instinctively glided backward with almost surreal grace, evading the perilous blow like a fairy in flight.
Durka, too, embraced the moment with closed eyes, his unwavering focus immersed in the intense clash.
The ferocity of the impact almost proved overwhelming, but he stood his ground with unwavering resolve. "Houh! What a powerful strike! The rumors are true," he acknowledged, recognizing the formidable strength of his adversary.
Taking measured steps backward, each footfall cracked the earth beneath his feet, the ground bearing the weight of the forces unleashed.
Everyone encircling the fighting ring could feel the tremors, as if the very land itself quaked with awe.
In that moment of profound connection, as their eyes remained closed and the world blurred around them, the warriors perceived the raw energy and impact they had unleashed upon each other.
A fleeting glint of spark spoke volumes of their extraordinary skill, and for a brief second, time seemed to stand still.
A glint of spark, a moment passes and they both retreated from each other, in a few feet distance, a beautiful footwork, elegant and masterful
In unison, they gracefully disengaged, retreating a few feet from each other.
The wind, as if acknowledging the magnificence of the duel, broke forth, playfully revealing the sword’s gleaming light and the halberd’s razor-sharp edge.
The very grass beneath their feet seemed to bear witness, displaying the mastery of a young talent and the seasoned hardness of an experienced warrior.
The wind break, showing the sword light, the grass cut showing the halberd sharpness, the blooming of talent of the young, the hardness of the old.
As they retreated they exchanged knowing smiles, the air crackled with a shared sense of admiration and respect.
Their attire billowed with the caress of the wind
"Hahaha! Durka the Berserker! Not a false reputation!" and Aeryon laughter rang out like a jubilant melody, blending harmoniously with the wilderness surrounding them.
But the fight is not yet over.
Swoosh!
The sound of the wind, the sound of the sword, sword light seems to erupt.
Only Aeryon and Durka, locked in their mesmerizing struggle, could perceive the potent energy shrouding them, guiding their every move and revealing the hidden intricacies of each attack.
The spectators, on the other hand, could only marvel at the astounding speed and power displayed by these two warriors.
Aeryon understanding deepened as he realized that innate strength was not the sole determinant of power.
With dedication and relentless training, one could ascend to a level where a single punch could shatter boulders and a halberd swing could cleave a person in two.
Such feats seemed unfathomable in his world, but here, they were not only possible but could be transcended.
Excitement coursed through his veins, an exhilarating surge of possibility.
In this world of wonders, every fiber of his being tingled with anticipation. It was a realm where dreams collided with reality, and the boundaries of human potential were pushed to their very limits.
Aeryon heart soared with the prospect of this boundless world, where warriors danced on the edge of possibility and the art of combat knew no bounds.
