Chapter 56: Pale Service

The burning wind whipped through the broken remnants of the once-glorious Ghost Village. The earth had been scorched black by the colossal footsteps of the invading giants. Ashes swirled in the air like snowflakes in hell.

At the edge of the devastation, on a towering ridge overlooking the ruin below, stood Morgan—her hair billowing like a banner of vengeance. Her large boobs hanging out seductively. Her arua was extremely horny but that was not what she had in mind now.

She watched it all with clenched fists and eyes glowing faintly with suppressed rage. Her dark cloak whipped around her armored frame, and her breathing was slow, controlled, but shallow like a beast caged behind her ribcage, waiting to roar.

Ten Colossus Beings had ravaged the Ghost Village. They had shattered the defenses, crushed the battlements, and left a trail of broken warriors. Morgan had seen it all. She had heard the screams. She had seen Lillian fall. She had Danielle die.

And she had smiled.

But now, as the dust settled and the Colossi began to withdraw, a tightness grew in her chest. Her plan was incomplete. Her plans were shattering. She wanted revenge. A real tasteful one.

Dominic had escaped. So had Lady Fares. And Alice. And even that damn servant, Kreper. How she hated to see her. A disgusting brat in her sight. Someone who feared everything. Not worthy to live. Not worthy to see the light of the day. Tsk. A disgrace to Ghost hood.

The whole village was supposed to fall. Their legacy was meant to die with their bones. Yet somehow, through pure chance or fate they had slipped through the cracks.

She clenched her jaw and turned sharply toward the colossal being behind her–:Gravemind.

A titan of dreadful majesty, Gravemind stood well over 100 feet tall. His body looked like a fusion of rock and organic sinew, like a mountain come alive. His face was veiled in an ever-moving shadow, yet his golden eyes pierced through it like burning suns.

"You said they would all die," Morgan said, her voice biting, laced with venom. Her anger and frustration could be seen.

Gravemind remained silent for a moment, the low hum of his breath vibrating the rocks around him. Then, he tilted his massive head toward her.

"I said I would break the Ghosts," he rumbled. "And I did. Their warriors are scattered. Their stronghold lies in ruins. Their hearts are broken. I fulfilled my pact of the deal."

Morgan’s fingers twitched. "But Dominic. He still lives."

Gravemind turned to gaze over the horizon, the burning trail of the fleeing survivors visible only to his colossal eyes.

"I fulfilled my debt," Gravemind said again. "You summoned the Colossi. We came. We conquered. Our pact is complete."

Morgan felt the fury swirl inside her like a rising storm. Her temper was beginning to rise. "You’re leaving? Just like that?"

Gravemind looked down at her, as if amused. His large frame towered over ger little body. He smiled cunningly.

"You are not our master, Morgan Fares." he said. "You are a daughter cast in rebellion. You are a child playing in the courts of giants. Do not mistake an agreement for allegiance. Besides I gave in because I had personal grudges against your mother."

Morgan’s face twisted. She stepped forward, glaring up at him. " What! And I gave you the coordinates. I gave you the passage. You owe me!"

Gravemind chuckled, a deep, seismic sound that echoed across the ridge. He turned away to the other Colossi. Their frames dimmed the early morning light that struggled to get into the city of ruins.

"We owe you nothing. The Ghosts are finished. Whether your vendetta burns on is of no concern to the Colossi. We have done our pact in this. I will like to leave this place. There is nothing here. Just ruins. We are leaving this weak Village for the weak. The blood of the fallen bodies of the Ghosts is being soaked. Have a nice time."

He turned away, his titanic form slowly moving toward the crater he had emerged from. The other Colossi followed, walking in eerie silence, as if vanishing into a realm only they could access.

Morgan watched them go. Powerless. Furious. Alone.

She let out a guttural scream that tore through the sky. Her magic flared—dark flames erupting around her—but it meant nothing now.

The damage was done. But it wasn’t enough. She fell to her knees. Dominic lived. Lady Fares lived. Her mother.

The very woman who had cast her aside. Who had trained her, praised her—and then forgotten her. Replaced her with a bastard of fate like Dominic and Alice.

Her teeth gritted. Memories surged like venom in her veins.

She remembered when she was once hailed as the next general. The pride of the Ghosts. Lady Fares’ own blood. Her training had been brutal, her achievements undeniable.

Until Dominic arrived.

The stranger. The chosen one. The man with a strange arua. Everything changed when he came. He quickly gained favor. He fought well, killed with grace, charmed with ease.

The soldiers began to murmur. The title of heir shifted to no one if not Dominic.

Lady Fares started trusting Dominic more than her own daughter. That had been Morgan’s breaking point. But even then Lady Fares preferred Alice to her.

So when the hooded figure had approached her, whispering of vengeance and power, she had listened. She had made the pact. She had invited the Colossi in.

But now...

Now she felt hollow.

The Ghosts were nearly gone—but not completely. The fire was not extinguished. It still smoldered in the survivors.

And her revenge still hung unfinished.

She rose to her feet, her expression steel.

"Next time," she said to the wind, "I’ll end it myself."

The wind carried her words across the ruins as Morgan turned, disappearing into the woods. Her cloak became a shadow. Her presence, a whisper.

"Dominic, I’m not done with you." she muttered. She rose, her clothes waved evenly.
