Villainess is being pampered by her beast husbands -
Chapter 68 --68
Chapter 68: Chapter-68
Something about this forest... or maybe, someone.
She glanced down and saw the small, sleeping rabbit nestled beside her chest, breathing softly in his dreams.
Her lips curled slightly.
Kaya looked down at the rabbit nestled against her side.
He was... not cute. Not by anyone’s standards.
This wasn’t the pristine, pampered kind of bunny people kept in cozy homes—soft, white, and angelic. No. This one looked like he’d been rolled in dirt, dragged through a muddy battlefield, and then forgotten under the sun. His ears were uneven, his teeth slightly crooked, and his fur—if you could call it that—was more of a patchy, weathered coat than anything soft.
And yet...
She couldn’t help but smile.
"Why do I still find you adorable, huh?" she murmured, her fingers brushing gently over his rough little head.
(Well, of course, let’s not forget—Kaya’s taste was... questionable at best. This is the same woman who bullied a sparrow just because he wasn’t "cute" enough, and now thought a half-feral rabbit was adorable. What kind of woman does that? Exactly.)
She chuckled to herself, eyes turning lazily—only for her gaze to land on a familiar, feathery form sleeping peacefully beside her.
Her smile vanished.
"You again," she muttered flatly.
Without hesitation, she reached over, picked up the tiny sparrow like a piece of trash, and flung him out of the hollow with a swift flick of her wrist.
"Chirp—!"
"Ahhh!"
The poor bird, who was still mid-dream, let out a startled chirp before tumbling into a nearby bush with a noisy rustle.
A second later, the disheveled sparrow popped his head out from between the leaves, feathers standing in all directions. He looked like he’d been hit by a windstorm and betrayed by life all at once.
He blinked up at Kaya with wide, wounded eyes, completely horrified.
What kind of plant did this woman eat in her childhood to turn out like this?
Chirp chirp chirppppp!
("What the hell did I even do this time?!")
He looked truly offended. If his face could file a complaint, it would have demanded justice from the gods.
But kaya still does not reacted much and just said one word
"Ugly"
Upon hearing that, the sparrow paused for a few moments, puffing up his small chest like a balloon filled too much. In a fit of irritation, he flapped his wings vigorously, grumbling bird-like curses quietly to himself..
"Chirp chirp chirrrrrip!"
("Ungrateful! Heartless! Wicked woman! I flew through fire—freaking fire—for you!")
He stood atop the bush like a fallen prince exiled from his own kingdom, feathers still ruffled from the harsh eviction.
"Chirp!"
("I could’ve died out there, you know?!")
The more he thought about it, the more dramatic he got. He glanced at the tree’s hollow where Kaya had gone back to sleep with that horrid mud bunny curled against her side. His eyes narrowed.
"Chirp chirp chirp!"
("He’s not even cute! What does he have that I don’t?!")
He puffed up further, imagining himself in his most glorious form—his feathers perfectly aligned, his wings majestic, his voice singing heroic ballads across the skies...
...and yet she called him ugly.
With a shaky breath, the sparrow drooped dramatically. His head fell forward as if the weight of betrayal itself rested upon it. He turned to a random leaf nearby and whispered:
"Chirp."
("It’s always the kind ones who suffer.")
Then with the kind of slow, solemn dignity of a bird who had just been thrown from heaven, he began grooming his feathers back into place.
Halfway through his grooming, the sparrow froze as Kaya’s voice cut through the silence—low, sleepy, but sharp as a blade.
"Who was it that caused the vultures to come into my life and mess things up?"
She didn’t even bother to open her eyes.
The sparrow blinked. His beak parted slightly, then clamped shut again. For a moment, he pretended the bark of the tree was incredibly fascinating. The leaves? Mesmerizing. The clouds? Life-changing.
He chirped once. Soft. Innocent.
Kaya scoffed.
Without waiting for a response, she pulled herself up and out of the hollow tree. Dirt clung to her arms and her clothes, but she barely cared. Her eyes scanned the clearing carefully—no vultures, no signs of wings in the sky, and the forest had returned to its deceiving calm.
Cutie stirred beside her, his big rabbit eyes blinking slowly. When Kaya glanced at him, she didn’t say anything about turning back into his human form. Carrying him like this was easier anyway.
She gently scooped him up, and he settled into her arms like a warm loaf of bread.
Kaya looked toward the distant outline of the sheep tribe. Her jaw set slightly.
She had to return.
Her clothes were still there. Her food, her gear—and, most importantly, those spices. There was no way she was going to leave without her stash of onions and garlic. That was treasure in this world.
And... she had to see if the sheep tribe was still standing.
If they had survived the chaos.
Or if they’d been wiped off the map in the crossfire between vultures, snakes, and her own cursed presence.
With one last glance at the quiet forest, Kaya adjusted cutie in her arms and began walking—her steps steady, her expression unreadable, and the sparrow fluttering silently behind her, still unsure whether she was more terrifying awake or asleep.
The place Kaya had sheltered in wasn’t too far from the sheep tribe’s settlement—perhaps ten, maybe twenty minutes at most by foot. And just as she’d calculated, it didn’t take long before familiar patches of land began to emerge through the brush.
But what greeted her wasn’t what she’d left behind.
The houses, thank the skies, stood tall and untouched. Still, everything around them—the roads, the trees, the carefully hidden paths that once shielded the tribe—had been ravaged and torn apart. Crumbled soil, snapped trunks, and crushed shrubs spread like a battlefield aftermath.
Kaya slowed her steps.
Cutie, nestled quietly in her arms, peeked up at her but said nothing. Even he sensed the shift in her mood.
