Chapter 55 --55
Chapter 55: Chapter-55
He didn’t say anything for a second. And just hugged her tightly.
He was still trembling as he pulled her into a tight hug, holding her like he was afraid she’d disappear again.
Kaya stood there, stunned. She didn’t know what to do. She blinked a few times and then did the only thing that came to her mind—something she had seen on TV. Gently, she raised her hand and patted his back. Soft and awkward, but reassuring.
"It’s okay," she whispered.
Cutie didn’t respond. His body was still shaking.
He was so big, tall, and broad—easily twice her size. But right now, in her arms, he felt so small. Like a lost child, scared of losing something precious. His eyes were tightly shut, as if trying to calm himself down.
Then suddenly, he let go and stepped back, looking straight at her with something close to anger.
"Are you crazy?" he snapped.
Kaya blinked, startled.
"Do you even know how to swim? If you don’t, why the hell would you go into such deep water?!"
His voice was rising now—frustrated, frantic.
"There’s plenty of water by the shore! You didn’t have to go that far! Why—why would you go so deep? What if you didn’t come back up?"
Kaya stared at him. She had never seen him like this. Cutie, who was always calm and quiet, was now worked up, pacing slightly, his voice filled with panic and fear.
It hit her then. He wasn’t angry at her. He was scared.
This was the first time she had seen him lose control like this. His usual gentle eyes were wide, his face flushed, his words pouring out in a mix of frustration and raw emotion.
"...I’m sorry," Kaya said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Cutie looked at her helplessly. He didn’t understand this woman. Did she even want to live... or was she chasing death?
One moment she was fearless—fighting an entire tribe, standing against wild beasts like it was nothing. And the next, she seemed so fragile, like a gust of wind could knock her over.
He opened his mouth to say something—but before he could, Kaya suddenly grabbed her head, stumbling as she crouched down on the ground.
"Ah—!" she cried out, her voice sharp with pain.
Her hands clutched her forehead tightly, her whole body curling in on itself as if trying to hold it together. It was happening again—that same crushing wave of pain. The one that made her feel like her skull would split open.
Kaya’s fingers dug into the earth, grabbing at the grass, her breathing sharp and erratic. The pain was blinding.
Cutie dropped to his knees beside her in panic. "What’s wrong?! Kaya—what’s happening?! Why are you crying? What is it?"
But she couldn’t speak.
Tears were already slipping down her cheeks. Not from emotion—but from sheer, unbearable pain. It wasn’t new. She had lived with this for years. Every time it hit, it felt like her mind would rip apart. And yet no one—not even the doctors—could figure out what it was. No tumor. No illness they could find.
Just pain. Pure, cruel pain.
She had learned to bear it. But that didn’t make it easier.
Suddenly, she felt a warm hand wrap around hers. Cutie’s.
He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, they glowed—bright and golden. A soft yellow light surrounded him and slowly flowed into her.
At first, Kaya didn’t notice it. The pain was too loud, too deep. But slowly... gradually... the tight grip on her skull began to ease.
It wasn’t instant. It never was. But after what felt like an eternity, five long minutes passed—and the pain disappeared.
Just like always.
Gone, without warning. Like it was never there.
Kaya stayed on the ground, breathing heavily, her body trembling from the aftermath. She didn’t speak. She couldn’t. She just sat there, eyes glassy, her soul trying to catch up to her body.
Cutie was still holding her hand, watching her closely, his face filled with worry.
And all she could think was—If dying would stop this pain, maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad deal after all.
But she couldn’t say that out loud. Not when someone looked at her like he just saved his whole world.
Cutie stared at Kaya, pale and shaken. His hand was still trembling from the effort, his breath shallow. This had never happened before.
He knew—he wasn’t the strongest in the tribe. His healing abilities were nothing extraordinary. But still, they were never this useless.
When he touched Kaya, he had felt it—just a sliver of her pain. Barely two percent of what she was enduring. But even that much had nearly broken him. The agony had pierced through him like fire laced with thorns. And that was just a taste. Just two percent.
His whole body was trembling.
What scared him more... was that despite pouring everything he had into his healing, nothing changed. Her pain didn’t ease. Not even a little.
And that wasn’t all.
He felt something—something strange, wrong. When his energy tried to flow deeper, when it reached Kaya’s head, it slammed into something invisible. A wall. A spiritual barrier, hard and cold, like an unseen force guarding her mind.
It hadn’t been there before—back when he healed her wounds during the fight with the hyenas, his power had flowed easily. But now?
Now, it was like her very spirit was warning him to back off.
And it wasn’t just resistance. It was hostility.
As if something inside her—someone—was glaring at him, pushing him out with pure hatred. It wasn’t Kaya. No... it was something else. Something that didn’t want help. Didn’t want healing. Didn’t want him anywhere near.
Cutie’s eyes widened as he pulled his hand back slightly. The feeling was gone now, but the chill it left behind lingered.
Cutie sat beside Kaya, helpless and scared, not knowing what to do.
A few steps away, Vayu stood still. His eyes were fixed on Kaya.
