Chapter 163: This Special Kind of Love
Chapter 163: This Special Kind of Love
[KAWAI]
Tamiko wanted to fight his father’s embrace, and he wanted to say that this wasn’t right or even that this wasn’t the time for this. He wanted to tell his father that he was late and that all of this wouldn’t ever mean anything; oh, he wanted to, so desperately.
However, the way that his father was holding onto him gently, embracing him like a father would a son, Tamiko felt the fight leave him. He felt like he really belonged here with his father and that all would be alright.
He wanted to refute the king’s words and make him understand that this was not the time for him to be acting all high and mighty, but then he didn’t take it in him for that. So, he let his father hold him and whispered promises that he was so sure King Zaffuto would keep.
One thing that Tamiko had already learned was that the mad king never played when it came to him. The king was always true to his words when it came to his son and there wasn’t a thing that anyone would tell him that would change his mind, not even his dear son himself.
"Papa is here, my little angel," King Zaffut0o reassured and Tamiko felt the embrace warming him, so he returned the god that his father had on him, carefully and calculatedly keeping his hands closer.
He was scared of what this would mean, but he trusted his father to make it all make sense. So, for the first time, the young prince let go, he didn’t fight, he didn’t say anything that would cause a fight again, he didn’t do shit that would have his father worry for him.
He just leaned on his father’s shoulders, imagining that he was rougher and he had his father carry him like fathers did with their kids.
"You don’t have the right to protect yourself, my boy. Everyone in Kawaii owes you their lives and they will lay their lives for you without question. No one is ever going to make you cry again, my Kaito.
"And if they try, then it will be the last thing they get to do with their lives," King Zaffuto promised, and Tamiko sighed in relief. He loved how protective his father was of him. He felt his father’s words tug at his heart and he wasn’t about to say no to that.
Sure, they still had a few things to work through, but right now, her with the king, Tamiko was alright. That was all that he cared about. He had his father and his father would keep him safe.
"I’m sorry too," Tamiko whispered against the king’s shoulders.
"No, my boy. You don’t have to be sorry. I just want you to always keep in mind that I love you more than anything and anyone that exists in our timeline. I will do anything for you, but you just have to promise me that you will let yourself live, my little angel.
Let your wings sprout and fly as far and wide as you wish to fly. You are free, loved, and protected by everyone, my little angel. You are safe here, in Kawai, always," King Zaffuto swore and Tamiko just smiled.
He knew the truth of those words and they were reassuring to him. It’s not going to be easy for the both of them, but Tamiko is more than willing to try and talk it out with him. They had been through enough already and had enemies who were growing.
"Walk with me, please," King Zaffuto requested when he pulled back from the hug with his son. He wanted to stay in that embrace and have his son for eternity, but he also knew that he had to talk to her son.
For months he had dallied about the truth that Tamiko would soon face and now that they were home, it was getting more and more obvious that there was chaos inbound for them.
Even that didn’t scare King Zaffuto. He was the master of all the chaos anyway, so this wouldn’t mean shit to him. Still, he didn’t want to put his son in an uncomfortable position.
"Okay," Tamiko agreed and the king almost choked back tears of joy. He didn’t want to fight with his son and honestly, he didn’t want to be the reason why his little angel was suffering.
It was not what he had intended and today would definitely haunt him for some time.
"Thank you," the king said as he led the way out of the dining room he had trashed so loudly and scared his people. Then again, they didn’t matter right now. The only person that mattered was right beside him and Zaffuto wouldn’t ever let his son go. Never.
"But... where are we headed?" Tamiko asked when he noticed they were walking to the chambers in the palace. It was like the king was about to introduce him to his room or something, But was that it, or was there more to this?
"You’ll see," the king said excitedly and Tamiko just smiled, unsure of how he was supposed to react to that. He didn’t want to break his father’s heart even more so he was complying with ease.
"These hallways used to have so many flowers on them. When we found out we were having you, my Lili made sure that the hallways smelled like lavender flowers. The scents would someday be so much that the space eventually became a no-go zone for most of the Lycans.
"It wasn’t because they didn’t want to come, but because they knew that the queen would make them tell her whether the lavender scents were perfect enough. Sometimes I used to think that she was a little unhinged for that, but then she was the love of my life, and whatever she wanted; my Lili got.
"I never compromised no matter how hard her demands could sometimes get. The flowers thankfully were different lavender shades, like she called them. She wanted to make sure our child was lavender-scented because that was a reminder of her favorite flowers.
"Oh, she loved lavenders. I knew then that she would love you without question of course she was your mother and that was something that was a must, but Lili loved you differently. You were everything to her, to me, to all of us.
"There came a time when the Lycans decided to brave the lavender scents just to make sure the queen was doing okay, and on days when she didn’t whine about her lavenders in the general mind links;
"... some of the Lycans would come in groups and make sure the queen’s flowers were fresh," King Zaffuto said fondly as he walked the wide hallways with his son, talking about beautiful memories like he didn’t murder so many people in these hallways long before he had met Liana.
She had changed him for the better and now he was going to be taking care of their own with all that he had and didn’t have.
"You must have really loved her," Tamiko whispered, even though he knew that already. He had read about his parent’s love and he knew damn well what they meant to each other. Theirs was the kid that had hearts beating for them.
"I still do," the king said before he stopped right in front of a room that had white doors.
It was the only white door.
Tamiko had read about this.
This was his parents’ original chamber before the king moved out.
