Chapter 84: The price of disguising as a woman
But in the last two days, he chose to ride his stallion instead. Something else seemed off. His cousin was a little restless. If he didn’t observe him close, he would have missed it. When he asked Han Xin what was on his mind, he would always give the same answer which was ’nothing’.
He couldn’t figure it out at first but soon he figured what it was. It was like Han Xin was waiting for Peng Xiu to show her face, and maybe then his unease would subside. His actions were quite subtle but today he was quite obvious.
As the convoy moved steadily along the winding roads, his eyes frequently darted towards Peng Xiu’s carriage, a flicker of suspicion in his otherwise stoic demeanour. Han Zhan couldn’t help but smirk, understanding that despite his cousin’s outward indifference, there was a part of him that drew him to Peng Xiu.
After traveling for a distance, he thought of an idea. There was a river nearby, if they camp there for the night wouldn’t Peng Xiu be forced out of hiding? He caught up with his cousin, his horse trotting alongside Han Xin’s horse.
"Brother, how about we stop by the river ahead and camp there for the night?" he suggested. "The soldiers could refresh themselves, and there is a hot spring nearby that you could use."
Han Xin nodded in agreement. They were about to reach the town and he didn’t want his soldiers to be reeking with sweat and stink out an entire town. It had only been two days since they passed a body of water but that was more than enough days to accumulate unpleasant smells.
Han Zhan smiled before commanding the soldiers to stop at the river. Jun De rode forward spreading the word in case someone didn’t hear it. They rode for another thirty minutes before reaching a clearing perfect for setting up camp. The sound of flowing water and the sight of the lush surroundings was quite peaceful.
Inside the carriage, Xiang Yu was hibernating like a bear. He barely moved these past few days that the twins thought that he was going to grow mushrooms on top of his head. He removed the cloth with medicinal ointment from his face. He had been using it to treat his sunburns. The redness on his face had subsided and his skin was already peeling. After all he had been through, he truly missed his original body.
He glanced at Lian and Mei, who were engrossed in a hand-slapping game and sighed. He wished he had their energy. Despite his knees having already scabbed over, he still felt unwell. His abdomen was cramping and as the days went by, he was becoming more irritable. He hated this body that seemed to have one problem after another.
Lian noticed his discomfort and scooched over asking, "Master, are you okay? How are you feeling?... Should I call the physician?" Xiang Yu sat up slowly struggling to fend off the motion sickness. Yes, he was also suffering from motion sickness. Talk about having a shitty day.
"Not too bad? Don’t worry about it," he said but the both of them knew their master would suffer to the bitter end if no one asked. He was used to suffering in silence because no one ever listened to his complains as a child.
Lian crouched by his side looking so worried you would think Xiang Yu had a terminal illness. "What are your symptoms? Where does it hurt?"
Xiang Yu knew he would only worry them further if he didn’t tell them about it. He described how he was feeling to give them a peace of mind. "I just feel like something is off. I feel pain in my lower belly and lower back, my belly feels puffy, I am getting pimples, my chest feels sore, and I just feel so lazy."
Lian, "..."
Mei, "..."
The twins exchanged a knowing glance. Mei tried to be as sensitive as possible, "Master... I don’t mean to alarm you but... you might be having a men... menstrual cycle."
Xiang Yu, "???" Aaaaaaahhhhhh, he was a man. A full-grown man with man parts. That was impossible.
’Aaaaaahhhhh, old man, you better come out and explain yourself!’ he yelled calling forth the Divine Emperor from whatever crevice he was hiding. The Divine Emperor who was sitting in the company of all the main gods of the heavenly realm almost lost his temper hearing all that screaming in his head.
’You better be dying for you to be screaming like that,’ he said the irritation in his voice hard to miss.
’Why? Why do I have symptoms of a period? Where is it even going to come out from? You did this on purpose didn’t you? First it was the boobs now this.’ He continued with his complaint and the more he spoke the more the Divine Emperor’s face contorted.
’Hello, do you hear me? This is unbearable! I never signed up for this!’ Xiang Yu continued, his voice rising in pitch.
The Divine Emperor’s face twisted further, his patience wearing thin. Finally, he couldn’t take it anymore. ’Enough!’ he thundered, his voice reverberating through the heavens. ’It is a phantom period now stop complaining.’
Xiang Yu paused, taken aback by the Divine Emperor’s outburst. Why was he throwing a tantrum when it was his nipples that were sore. ’A phantom period? What the hell is that?’ he repeated, confusion mingling with his frustration. The twins were already experiencing it and theirs was synchronised which meant that he would have his work cut out for him.
Lian was like a monster off a leash. Around that time, she had a short fuse and wanted to kill anyone who so much as gave her the wrong look. Mei on the other hand cried a lot. She cried if she saw anything cute, she cried about the weather and if not supervised she would curl up in bed for four days straight. This master had to stop one from killing demons and the other from crying herself to death. Now it was his turn.
’Yes, but there will be no discharge,’ the Divine Emperor replied, his tone stern. ’Since you chose to disguise yourself as a woman, you must accept all that comes with it. There is nothing I can do about it.’ Who would have thought one day the powerful creator would be talking about discharge and menstrual cycles with a half blood demon.
Xiang Yu’s shoulders slumped, realising that he couldn’t get out of this. ’Oh,’ he muttered, though his irritation had not entirely dissipated. When his voice disappeared the Divine Emperor raised his head. He noticed the other gods were staring at him, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity. It seemed his animated reaction had not gone unnoticed.
Clearing his throat, he composed himself, his regal demeanour returning. "Ahem, carry on," he commanded, his voice calm but authoritative.
