Chapter 72: Xin-ge

Without another word, he turned on his heel, his movements sharp and decisive. Yi Nuo bit her lip, worry etched on her face as she followed after him. She tried to open her mouth and speak several times but she choked.

Han Xin’s presence was imposing and his aura suffocating as he strode through the camp. Soldiers snapped to attention, saluting him as he passed, but they could sense his foul mood and kept their heads down. His steps were heavy, each one echoing his frustration.

Reaching the tent, Han Xin didn’t hesitate. "Princess Xiu!" he called out, his voice carrying through the camp. Passersby tried to mind their own business but they failed. Their steps slowed eager to watch the show.

Inside, Xiang Yu sat up abruptly, his long hair dishevelled and his eyes flashing with irritation. Not only did this asshole ruthlessly kill him in the memories, he was also forced to watch his insufferable romance with Peng Xiu and now he was roused from his sleep by that irritating voice. This venerable one never had a good temper so one could only imagine what happened next.

Before Han Xin could continue his tirade, Xiang Yu emerged from the tent, a dagger gleaming in his hand. In one swift movement, he pressed the blade to Han Xin’s throat, his eyes cold and unyielding. "Keep your annoying voice down; otherwise, you can’t blame me for what happens next," he hissed, his tone deadly calm. He gripped the dagger and tightened it for a moment, restraining himself greatly. He was itching to rebel against the Divine Emperor but he had the twins’ wellbeing to worry about.

Han Xin felt the cold edge of the blade press harder against his throat. When he met her fierce gaze, his heart jerked in surprise. She stood before him, her hair tousled and eyes wild, a mix of fury and rebellion completely lacking the grace of a princess. Instead, she wore the fierce intensity of a warrior who had fought through countless battles. This was the look of his rival directly challenging his authority.

"Your Highness, stand down... I don’t want to hurt you," he said his bobbing Adam’s apple grazing the blade. As though going against him Xiang Yu pressed the blade harder against his skin, a trickle of warmth seeping from the cut.

Han Xin’s instincts kicked in. With a swift movement, he reversed their positions, grabbing her wrist and pinning it above her head, the dagger slipping from her fingers with a clatter.

Xiang Yu felt just as powerless under this man’s grip. He tried to free himself but Han Xin’s grip tightened against his wrist. Well, that was until he took a page out of the twins’ book. His eyes sparkled with mischief as he flashed him a sly grin. His lips curled into a smirk that was both playful and dangerous.

"Careful now, General," he said, his voice low and teasing. "You might find yourself in a compromising position." With that, he raised his foot, aiming for his crotch. He couldn’t kill him but he could see to it that his ancestry ended with him.

Han Xin seemed to guess her next move. He instinctively caught her leg mid-air, the tension between them so intense that the twins watching through the gaps of the tent silently squirmed while smacking each other in excitement. The drama was even more intense than the stories they liked reading.

The twins weren’t the only ones witnessing this momentous occasion. The onlookers nearby shifted uncomfortably, sensing the sparks in the air. The pose was awkward, intimate, and more than a little wrong, but neither of the main characters seemed to notice.

"Don’t mess around, Your Highness," he warned, trying to keep his voice steady despite the rage simmering under his skin. This was the first time he had lost his temper like this. He was usually quite restrained but now... It was as though she had touched his bottom line, something no one else had attempted before.

Xiang Yu’s smirk widened, unfazed by his threat. He had found another way to ruffle this immortal’s feathers. Since he couldn’t kill him, he would anger him to death, literally. Surely the Divine Emperor wouldn’t blame him for that. "If you wanted to touch me, you could have just said so." The frivolity in her tone suddenly evaporated as he shifted, his expression darkening. "Let me go."

Caught off guard by the sudden change, Han Xin’s grip relaxed. He subconsciously glanced at her chest, which was rising and falling vehemently, and an unsettling feeling crept into his mind. "Weren’t they bigger before?" he thought as he released her wrist and leg. He stepped back and confiscated the dagger before saying, "You have ten minutes," his voice low and steady. "Don’t make me wait." He turned on his heel and stormed off only for Xiang Yu to yell,

"Ah-Xin, ten minutes is not enough." The entire military camp froze, the air thick and tense. Not everyone was here to witness this drama but they also felt a shift in the universe.

Han Xin’s steps halted a thunderous grey cloud hanging over his head. He slowly turned his aura like that of a fiend crawled out from hell. He stormed over his cold eyes making Xiang Yu feel like he was going to get punched. Instead of fear, he was rather thrilled; this gave him an excuse to beat him up.

"Don’t call me that... ever. You can only address me as General Han. And if you don’t show up in ten minutes, lunch will be served, and you can only wait for dinner," he said, his jaw clenched. After saying that, he walked away, his entire body engulfed in a hostile air.

Xiang Yu wouldn’t be the infamous Demon King if he just let him walk away. He pouted his lips before saying in a coquettish tone, "Xin-ge, why are you so mean?"

The onlookers, "..."

The twins, "???" aaaaaahhhhhh, their master was the king of flirting. If he knew what the twins were thinking, he would confiscate their books as punishment. Han Xin slowed his steps his fists clenched before he increased his strides with Yi Nuo following behind.

Xiang Yu watched him go, annoyance bubbling beneath the surface. He swore that would be the spark to fuel a full-blown confrontation but he was wrong. He turned back into the tent, the heavy flap falling shut behind him. With a frustrated grunt, he kicked the quilt off his legs, sending it flying across the small space. He lay back, arms crossed behind his head, staring at the roof of the tent plotting on how to poke the bear even more.

Just then the twins cleared their throats to attract his attention. He glanced at the pair sitting on one bed, their legs crossed, watching him curiously. "You are awake? Did the noise outside wake you?" he asked worried that they hadn’t slept enough.
