Chapter 427: Sirius’s threats

Selene’s hovercar docked at her sky palace late at night. The journey back to the capital of the Federation, two planets away from the wastelands, had been long and arduous.

The federation capital sparkled under the night sky, a sea of lights that mirrored the stars above. Selene glided through the corridors of her palace with the grace and poise befitting a princess. Her presence was regal, her every step deliberate and elegant.

As she entered her leisure room, she paused, her eyes narrowing at the sight before her. In the dim light, her half-brother Sirius lounged in a chair, his silhouette cast in shadows. It was clear he had been waiting for her.

"You look nice," Sirius remarked, his voice smooth yet with an underlying edge. "Where have you been?"

Selene froze momentarily, taken aback by his unexpected appearance. However, she quickly regained her composure, her expression turning cold and aloof. "How does that have anything to do with you?" she retorted, her tone dismissive.

Without warning, Sirius rose abruptly, the sudden movement startling her. He stepped closer, his gaze intense as he studied her. Leaning in, he sniffed the air around her, his expression one of knowing familiarity. "Very familiar," he murmured. "Which omega have you been hanging around with?"

Selene’s eyes flashed with anger, a mix of indignation and defiance. She took a step back, her posture rigid. "You have no right to question me, Sirius," she said firmly, her voice steady despite the tension in the air.

Sirius’s sneer grew more pronounced as he watched her with a calculating gaze, the dim light casting long shadows across his face. The room was thick with unspoken words, the tension between them palpable. "Do you know that Xiang Yu is missing?" Sirius asked.

Selene’s breath caught in her chest, but she remained composed. "No, I didn’t know," she lied.

Sirius shrugged, casually glancing away. He suddenly reached out, toying with her hair. "You will tell me if you see him... right?"

Selene pulled her hair back. "Why does it matter? He’s not the crown prince of the Republic anymore."

"Don’t try and act stupid, Little Sel. You know what I want with him, so you will tell your dearest brother when you see him, right?" Sirius’s voice was smooth, but his intent was clear.

"Fine, but I feel like you should focus on what’s more important," Selene said, her voice steady.

Sirius chuckled. "Look at you, lecturing me... Go on, you must be tired."

Selene turned away to leave, her heart pounding as she tried to quell the storm of emotions within her. Just as she was about to exit, Sirius called out, "How about you invite me to hang out with your omega friend next time? I like her scent."

Selene froze for a split second. She put on a fake smile. "He has a boyfriend."

Sirius smirked. "So? As long as they are not married, they can still be pursued."

"You should stay away from my friends," Selene said before rushing out.

As she left the leisure room, she could still feel Sirius’s eyes on her, a reminder that she couldn’t do anything without him knowing. She couldn’t go and see Xiang Yu anymore otherwise she would break her promise to keep his secret.

Sirius left the sky palace, and as he walked out, he said to one of his men, "Find out who Selene was with and report all her movements to me."

The man nodded. "Yes, Your Highness."

Sirius’s lip curled. He felt that Xiang Yu couldn’t hide from him forever.

Xiang Yu had no idea that Sirius was on his scent, determined to hunt him down. The only reason Sirius couldn’t come after him right now was because Han Xin was keeping him occupied. Sirius was ruthless, but Han Xin was both strategic and merciless.

Sirius paced the dimly lit command centre, his eyes blazing with frustration. The holographic map displayed the latest routes and movements of his forces, but every time he made a move, Han Xin was there to counter him.

The republic’s imperial forces were relentless, and if that wasn’t enough, his supplies were being robbed by interstellar pirates. It was as if they always knew which routes he would use, striking with precision before vanishing without a trace.

Sirius’s fists clenched as he threw a fit, his rage boiling over. He had a feeling that Han Xin was being extra ruthless because he had a vendetta against him but why was that?

AN: Hmm I wonder why?

Han Xin’s methods seemed strategic on the surface, but his emotions ran deep, often clouding his judgment. He could have ended the war a long time ago, but his mind was consumed by thoughts of Xiang Yu.

When Han Xin found out that the house in the photo was nowhere in the Republic, he ordered the search to expand. They hacked the Federation’s database, only to find that the unique house didn’t exist there either. Han Xin was losing his mind.

Others couldn’t see it, but Han Zhan could, and he was really getting concerned. After talking to Little Bai, Han Zhan decided to speak to Han Xin and figure out what he was thinking.

Han Xin was sitting in a chair in his cabin on the warship. In front of him was the clear view of a sea of stars, beautiful and romantic, but his focus was elsewhere.

He flipped the photo between his fingers absentmindedly. The air in the room was suffocating, intense, and oppressive, as though warning Han Zhan he wasn’t welcome without saying a word.

Han Zhan walked in and sat opposite Han Xin, though he felt like running back out. Han Xin didn’t look at him, but he was aware of his presence.

"Ah-Xin," Han Zhan said softly.

Han Xin replied with a soft hum, his gaze never leaving the photo. Han Zhan felt that his cousin’s aura had become even more terrifying since the day he found out that Xiang Yu went missing, making it difficult to broach the subject.

Han Zhan glanced at the photo between Han Xin’s fingers, and a thought struck him. "Maybe it’s not the house he wanted you to pay attention to. Did you check his communicator in detail? If not, I can find someone to take a look at it."

Han Xin was about to agree, but the thought of the pictures on Xiang Yu’s communicator made him hesitate. It wasn’t just normal pictures. Some of them where of a shirtless Xiang Yu. Xiang Yu also had a habit of taking pictures of him as well, some of them... spicy. Before Han Xin went through the communicator, he had this habit. This was why he didn’t want anyone else to see it.

"No, I will go through it again," Han Xin said firmly.

Han Zhan nodded. "Oh... maybe he will come find you."

Han Xin’s fingers froze for a moment, and Han Zhan knew he was walking on eggshells. Han Xin had become emotionally unstable and easily irritable lately. Han Zhan was starting to suspect that Han Xin was about to go through his rut, and the absence of Xiang Yu was only making things worse.
