Chapter 425: Gluttonous disciples
Xiang Yu didn’t wait for a response. "It was this one, right? Then this hand must be useless." He immediately took out his dagger, and with a swift motion, he severed the man’s arm.
Blood splattered everywhere as Xiang Yu picked up the limb and tossed it to the crowd. They jumped up, vying for the trophy, tearing the arm into pieces in their frenzy.
"Now you won’t put your filthy paw on anyone," Xiang Yu declared. "If I catch you again, I will take the other one as well." His words were so terrifying that the man trembled as he weakly held his bleeding stump.
Xiang Yu turned to leave, and as soon as he exited the arena, Lian and Mei met him.
"Master, you were so cool," Lian exclaimed.
"And the way you tore his arm was so awesome," Mei chimed in.
"You are over-praising me," Xiang Yu said modestly.
"No, Master, you looked amazing," Mei insisted.
"I wish we could have skinned him; it would have been more fun," Lian added.
"No skinning," Xiang Yu said firmly. "Let’s go find something to eat in this place."
"I heard they have rare delicacies here like marinated rat stew," Mei said.
"That’s marinated in the drain system," Xiang Yu responded.
"Oh," Mei muttered.
"Well, I heard they have double grilled ophidian," Lian offered.
Mei chimed excitedly saying, "Mmm sounds yummy. Double the deliciousness. "
"That’s a two headed snake," Xiang Yu clarified.
Mei stuck out her tongue saying, "Ew, yuck."
Lian on the other hand fell silent but soon she couldn’t stand it any longer. "Master, can’t we go somewhere else to hide? This place sucks. There is no good things to eat."
As they walked through the bustling market, Xiang Yu said, "This is the location in that photo. If we find somewhere else, Xin-ge won’t be able to find us."
Xiang Yu no longer had a communicator, nor did the twins, because not only could Han Xin track them, but so could others, including Sirius, Peng Xiu, and people in the Republic who were calling for his head. Xiang Yu could only stay put until Han Xin came to find him.
As expected, they found nothing interesting in this wasteland. They ended up going back to the house that outwardly appeared like a run-down two-story structure nestled between a mech spare parts shop and a bar.
Outwardly, the house looked like it would fall apart at any moment, but inside, it was a different world altogether. Luxurious and spacious, it was the perfect hiding spot.
Xiang Yu entered and was immediately met by the steward, who seemed extremely anxious. The steward whispered something to him as Lian and Mei followed closely behind.
"Well, well, well," Lian said, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
"Look who is here," Mei continued.
Standing at the door of the lounge area was Selene, accompanied only by Leia. Xiang Yu’s brow arched in surprise. When he had escaped, he had called Selene, telling her it was time to repay the favour she owed him.
Xiang Yu needed Selene’s help to enter the Federation unnoticed. Selene had offered him refuge in one of her properties, but Xiang Yu refused. He didn’t even tell her where in the Federation he was going.
Selene had helped him and the twins get identities for the Federation and sent them to him, but they had never met in person. Who would have thought she would manage to track him and appear at his doorstep?
"Show yourselves out," Lian said, her voice firm. "Our master has no business with you."
Leia opened her mouth to retort, but Selene cut her off. "I apologize for coming here unannounced. As an apology, I brought treats."
"Do we look cheap to you?" Mei retorted.
Selene gestured to Leia, who opened a box of expensive chocolates. Mei’s voice died down, her sweet tooth taking over. She shook her head, realising she was about to sell her master for a mere box of chocolates. Lian hmphed, but then Selene moved out of the way to reveal even more delicacies unique to the Federation.
Lian and Mei wouldn’t sell their master for a box of chocolates, but for a lot of delicacies, they just might. They looked at their master, who gestured, indicating they could go ahead. Lian and Mei were so excited that they rushed into the room.
Selene smiled, knowing she had gotten it right. Only food could gain her access to Xiang Yu. Xiang Yu watched his gluttonous disciples rushing in to stuff their faces with a slight smile.
Soon he sat down on the couch in a relaxed and nonchalant manner as the steward brought him water. He took a sip before looking at Selene. "To what do I owe the pleasure?" he asked.
Selene had been looking for a reason to see him ever since she found out where he was in the Federation. So when she discovered that Han Xin was the true heir to the throne and had been conferred the title of imperial lord, she decided to visit Xiang Yu. Selene was a little nervous, and it showed in her mannerisms. She cleared her throat. "Um, can we... can we talk?"
Xiang Yu nodded. "Sure, we can talk." Meanwhile, Mei exclaimed, "Mmm, master, you should try these tarts," her eyes almost rolling to the back of her head.
"Yeah, it’s so good," Lian chimed in.
Xiang Yu chuckled. "Eat slowly, don’t choke," he said before turning back to Selene. "Can we talk somewhere else?" she asked, her voice tinged with urgency.
Xiang Yu was reluctant but eventually said, "Okay."
Selene seemed less tense as she got up. Leia followed behind them, but Selene mouthed, "No," her expression almost begging.
Leia was uncomfortable leaving the two of them alone, especially now that they were at war. Who knew if Xiang Yu would kidnap Selene or do something as an act of war?
Seeing their silent exchange, Xiang Yu sneered. "What, are you worried I will do something to her?"
"You—" Leia started, but Selene cut her off. "Leia, just go and wait, please."
"Yes, Your Highness," Leia said, halting her steps.
Selene followed after him her palms clammy from nervousness. The door opened to a leisure room that was far more advanced compared to the area outside the walls.
The room instantly created an illusion of being in a garden, reminiscent of the imperial palace gardens. Xiang Yu and Selene took a stroll, the fragrance of the flowers filling the air.
"What is it that you wanted to talk to me about?" Xiang Yu asked.
Selene’s steps paused, and she nervously said, "Did you know that Han Xin... he is the imperial lord now."
Xiang Yu stopped and turned around, a smile playing on his lips. "Yeah, I know," he said.
