Chapter 377: I only like you

As they continued to walk, Xiang Yu spoke about the person he liked, his eyes sparkling with a warmth she had never seen directed at her. Sienna felt jealous hearing him talk about that person like they were the most precious star in the cosmos.

Each word he uttered wrapped around her like a vine, tightening with every compliment. She had always longed for someone to look at her that way, to see her as he saw this mysterious person. This was why she was reluctant to be in an arranged marriage but now she was envious of the person Xiang Yu liked.

"Was it love at first sight?" Sienna asked, her voice barely above a whisper. She knew she shouldn’t pry, yet the question slipped out, fueled by curiosity.

Xiang Yu chuckled softly, shaking his head. "No, it wasn’t. I called him an ugly bastard when we first met."

Sienna’s brow arched in surprise. That was not the answer she had expected. The lightness in his voice was both amusing and infuriating. Her heart sank as she imagined the person who could evoke such love from him, and jealousy stirred like a storm in her chest.

Meanwhile, Han Xin followed a few paces away, unable to hear their conversation but sensing the harmonious air between them. He fought off the urge to stride over and pick Xiang Yu up and carry him to back to the palace and lock them both inside. The chatter of Sienna’s sister and the steward only fueled his growing agitation.

"Xiang Yu and Sienna look perfect together. I hope we see a wedding soon," Sienna’s sister gushed, oblivious to Han Xin’s mounting anger. Each word felt like a dagger, twisting deeper into his resolve.

The steward felt the weight of Han Xin’s presence, a suffocating aura that made it hard to breathe. He tried to steer the conversation away from weddings, but Sienna’s sister was relentless.

When they finally reached the palace, and Xiang Yu turned to bid Sienna farewell. "I am leaving, good night, your highness," he said, his handsome features glowing in the moonlight.

As he turned to leave, Han Xin stepped forward, wrapping a possessive arm around Xiang Yu’s waist. To anyone else, it looked like a simple gesture to guide him along, but Han Xin’s grip was firm, marking his territory.

Sienna noticed the way Han Xin held Xiang Yu, but it didn’t stir any feelings of rivalry. After all, Han Xin was just Xiang Yu’s attendant, a strong alpha but nothing more. There was no reason to see him as competition.

She walked into the palace, her sister’s excited smile greeting her. "Sister, how was it? You two looked so good together."

Sienna sighed, her heart heavy. "Yeah," she replied, sinking into a chair, feeling exasperated. The thrill of the evening faded, leaving only the bitter taste lingering on her tongue.

Xiang Yu and Han Xin walked back to the main palace, the steward trailing behind them. The moonlight cast shadows on the empty hallway, the air felt thick with unspoken words.

The steward’s eyes flicked to the hand resting on Xiang Yu’s waist. It was a casual touch, yet it spoke volumes. Xiang Yu didn’t seem to notice or care but the steward couldn’t ignore it. He kept trying to signal Han Xin to keep his paws to himself but Han Xin acted like he was blind.

In fact, he was grateful to Han Xin for making the prince’s disorder better but the problem was this relationship was meant to be private.

If people found out that Xiang Yu as an alpha needed an alpha to deal with his disorder it would be incredibly bad.

If word got out, it would be disastrous. The steward opened his mouth, ready to speak, but a fierce glare from Han Xin silenced him. The venom in Han Xin’s gaze made the steward rethink his words, and he promptly shut his mouth.

"May you give us a minute?" Han Xin requested, his tone brokering no argument.

"But your highness—" the steward began, hesitant.

"It’s fine, you can go ahead," Xiang Yu said, his voice firm.

The steward looked at Han Xin like he was a big bad wolf that was about to attack his little sheep that he worked very hard to raise. As he walked away, his eyes darted back, silently warning Han Xin to keep his hands to himself.

Once alone, Han Xin pressed Xiang Yu against the cool palace wall. The sudden movement caught Xiang Yu off guard. "There are cameras everywhere," he protested, glancing around.

"Don’t worry about them," Han Xin replied, his voice low as their fingers entwined. The heat rose in Xiang Yu’s cheeks under Han Xin’s intense gaze.

"What did you two talk about?" Han Xin asked, his brow furrowing slightly.

Xiang Yu smiled, sensing Han Xin’s discomfort. Xiang Yu smiled fully aware that Han Xin was unhappy about him talking to Sienna just now. As much as he hated making Han Xin jealous he had no choice but to deal with her until this matter was resolved.

He enjoyed making Han Xin a little jealous, though he hated the situation. "You," he replied, biting his lower lip flirtatiously, his demeanour shifting from distant to teasing.

Han Xin blinked, his confusion evident as he searched Xiang Yu’s dazzling eyes. "Me? What do you mean?"

Xiang Yu chuckled lightly. "You asked what we talked about. We talked about you."

Instantly, Han Xin’s jealousy melted away. He lowered his head, resting his forehead against Xiang Yu’s shoulder, inhaling his familiar scent. It was intoxicating, grounding him in a way nothing else could.

"We have to go. My father is waiting," Xiang Yu said gently, pulling away slightly. Han Xin wanted to ask if he could mark Xiang Yu, not just temporarily but permanently but instead, he simply nodded.

As they resumed walking, Xiang Yu’s flirtatious smile faded. He glanced back at Han Xin. "You don’t have to worry about anyone. I only like you," Xiang Yu said, his voice soft yet firm.

Han Xin stood frozen, taken aback by the confession. Xiang Yu continued walking, and when he realized Han Xin wasn’t following, he turned back. With a playful tug, he grabbed Han Xin’s hand, dragging him along.
