Chapter 370: Too many love rivals

Xiang Yu, unfazed by the tension, retorted, "If I had known my possibly future brother-in-law was such a prick, I would have prepared a coffin." The words hung in the air, freezing both Sirius and Han Xin.

Han Xin felt the sting of Xiang Yu’s words. Who was Xiang Yu calling brother in law? He had also been ignored all evening as if he didn’t exist. Had Xiang Yu truly forgotten their agreement from the night before?

As if to rub salt in the wound, Sienna, walking up the stairs, stumbled over her veil and fell forward. Xiang Yu caught her just in time, helping her regain her footing. Sirius rushed to her side, grabbing her hand and separating them. "That’s very inappropriate," he said, moving her further away and taking her place beside Xiang Yu.

Han Xin clenched his fists, feeling as though he couldn’t breathe for a moment. The words echoed in his mind: "He is yours... you can’t let anyone touch him." The realisation hit him hard. He needed to seize the throne quickly, to claim Xiang Yu as his own. No one else could dare to covet what was his.

From the sidelines, Peng Xiu watched the unfolding drama, her annoyance reaching a boiling point. She wanted to confront Xiang Yu right there but restrained herself, forcing a smile instead. As she passed Han Xin, she remarked, "Brother has only met her yet he is already performing husband duties... they make a perfect pair."

Han Xin clenched his jaw, replying curtly, "It won’t happen," before walking away. The words were what Peng Xiu wanted to hear, but they felt wrong to her.

Meanwhile, the twins watched the spectacle unfold on StarNet, popcorn in hand. Lian chuckled, "Master is so popular... look, they are already fighting."

Mei nodded, her eyes wide. "But big brother will come out on top. He looks like he’s going to kill someone."

"More like bury them alive," replied Lian with a laugh.

In the grand living room of the imperial palace, the atmosphere was thick with anticipation. The Federation envoy and the imperial family of the Republic sat on plush sofas, their attendants and waiting staff positioned nearby, ready to serve. The room was elegantly decorated, with soft lighting casting a warm glow over the rich fabrics and ornate decor.

As the wait staff brought drinks, Xiang Yu felt the weight of his heavy cloak. He beckoned the steward over, his expression calm yet commanding. Han Xin, watching from the side, felt a surge of urgency to assist him. He took a step forward, but Xiang Yu called the steward directly. Han Xin’s heart sank as he stepped back, realising at that moment that Xiang Yu was not only ignoring him but he was also upset with him. But why? The question lingered in his mind, unanswered.

The steward unclasped the button of Xiang Yu’s cloak; his movements were practised and efficient. Once the cloak was removed, Xiang Yu settled into his seat. Just as he did, Crown Prince Sirius appeared out of nowhere, plopping down next to him. Han Xin’s eyes darkened, a murderous glare brewing within, though his face remained composed.

"May I to sit next to you, Your Highness?" Sirius asked, his tone flirtatious, a smirk dancing on his lips.

"Sit wherever you like," Xiang Yu replied coolly, raising a cup of tea to his lips.

Sirius’s gaze remained fixed on Xiang Yu, captivated. The soft light played on Xiang Yu’s features, giving him an almost ethereal quality. As Xiang Yu lifted the steaming cup, delicate wisps of steam curled into the air. Sirius watched, entranced, as Xiang Yu sipped the tea, his lips glistening from the warm liquid, each movement fluid and inviting.

Sirius’s heart raced as he noticed the way Xiang Yu’s throat subtly shifted with each swallow, the smooth roll of his Adam’s apple catching the light. Xiang Yu’s cheeks were slightly flushed, perhaps from the heat of the tea or the warmth of the room, adding a hint of colour to his otherwise flawless complexion. The contrast was striking, the delicate blush mesmerising.

Long lashes framed Xiang Yu’s eyes, casting gentle shadows on his cheekbones as he looked down, lost in thought. This created an aura of both mystery and allure that pulled Sirius in deeper. How was this man an alpha?

He had all the traits, tall, well-built, commanding presence, sharp features, and a piercing gaze. Yet, there was something enchanting about him that made Sirius unable to look away.

Finally, Xiang Yu placed his cup down, still not meeting Sirius’s gaze. "Keep looking and I will gouge out your eyes," he warned, his voice low and menacing

Sirius chuckled, unfazed. "Aren’t we here to discuss peace.

"Our fathers are," Xiang Yu replied flatly, his tone leaving no room for further conversation.

After a short period of silence, Sirius leaned back in his seat, a casual smile on his face. "So you and my sister, did something really happen last night?" he asked, his tone teasing

Xiang Yu didn’t respond. He stared straight ahead, ignoring the man beside him. Sirius pressed on, undeterred. "Did you two fuck?"

Frustration bubbled within Xiang Yu. He clenched his fists, wanting to strike Sirius, but he held back. Someday, he vowed, he would pull out Sirius’ tongue and feed it to him. How dare he talk to this venerable one like this?

"My father wanted to kill you when he found out what happened last night," Sirius continued, draping his arm over the backrest where Xiang Yu sat. "Don’t worry, I will protect you

Xiang Yu turned his head, his eyes narrowing. "Do you still have a use for your hand?"

Confused, Sirius replied, "Yes."

"Then remove it, or I will make it useless," Xiang Yu warned, his voice low and steady. If it were anyone else, Sirius might have flirted or joked. But with Xiang Yu, he sensed the threat was real.

Across the room, Han Xin watched the scene unfold. The easy demeanour of Sirius grated on him. As Sirius leaned closer to Xiang Yu, laughing too loudly, Han Xin’s jaw tightened. Jealousy simmered within him, twisting like a knife in his gut. He struggled to contain the rage that threatened to spill over. The thought of another man touching Xiang Yu, flirting with him, made his blood simmer. His jealousy was like a raging beast, ready to pounce.

Sirius finally withdrew his arm, still smiling, but the tension lingered. Just then, Sienna appeared, flanked by her sister. "May we join you?" she asked, her veil removed, revealing her delicate features. She sat down gracefully but she was clearly territorial.
